Just as Chiri had said, once Black Zetsu learned of Kaito's recent actions, he reached a conclusion in his mind.

"The worst-case scenario has come true. It seems Kaito is indeed gathering the power of the King of Yama." Various thoughts flashed through his mind in an instant. "We must stop him from obtaining that power!"

Nearby, White Zetsu scratched his head in mock distress and asked, "That's really bad. What should we do?"

"Ah!" He struck his right fist into his left palm with a look of surprise. "Why don't we cooperate with the other two?"

Black Zetsu ignored White Zetsu's exaggerated performance and immediately rejected his suggestion. "No. Although those monsters are twisted, they still originate from the King of Yama's power, and they have an instinctive hostility towards the power from my mother within me."

"Oh? So you've already tested them out, and I didn't even know!" White Zetsu looked at Black Zetsu with a playful smile.

Black Zetsu responded angrily, "I dealt with those monsters when they first emerged. If it weren't for that, why would I exclude them from our plans?"

"Ah, that makes sense. I was still asleep inside the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path back then, so no wonder I didn't know." White Zetsu sighed exaggeratedly. "I'm really grateful to Lord Madara for creating us, even though I couldn't experience the comfort of it."

"Enough!" Black Zetsu glared at White Zetsu with some impatience. "There's no other way now. We must kill Kaito before he completes the four seals!"

"I get it. What's the plan?" Seeing Black Zetsu's impatience, White Zetsu became more serious. "Obito has already started his actions, right?"

Black Zetsu said darkly, "Obito's actions aren't guaranteed. I initially wanted to use Hidan to probe Kaito's intentions, but that's no longer necessary."

He gave a direct order. "White Zetsu, this time you will also assist Obito!"

"Yes, sir!" White Zetsu saluted playfully. "But, last time Obito and Nagato acted together and failed. If it's just me and Obito, our chances aren't much better. How about you join the fight too?"

"No!" Black Zetsu rejected without hesitation. "My form would be at a disadvantage against an onmyoji."

"What a pity." White Zetsu shrugged.

"But it's fine," Black Zetsu smiled sinisterly. "Kaito is sure to clash with the remaining two monsters. His next target, according to the sequence, is the Shinigami."

"When he confronts the Reaper, inform Kakuzu and Hidan. Jashin will definitely notice something through Hidan."

"At that time…"

White Zetsu also grinned mischievously. "Hehehe... Then Obito and I will ambush him."

...

Kaito infiltrated Konoha alone once again. Izuna declined to join the mission, citing the need for a smaller target. Thus, the two seniors resumed their slumber. Gurē remained on standby for backup.

Despite all that had happened, Konoha's defense and detection barriers hadn't improved, allowing Kaito to slip in smoothly. He arrived at the Uzumaki Clan's Mask Hall without any trouble.

Stepping into the dilapidated building, he carefully examined the wall full of menacing masks. Despite their varied expressions, they didn't seem significantly different. It was clear that without sensing the Shinigami's power, one couldn't identify the true Shinigami mask by sight alone.

This posed no problem for Kaito as an onmyoji. After closing his eyes to sense the spiritual power for a moment, he quickly locked onto his target. He extended his hand, releasing spiritual energy to envelop the Shinigami mask, which then floated gently into his hand.

After securing the mask, Kaito turned to leave the Mask Hall, intending to find a safe place to summon the Shinigami quietly. Suddenly, he felt a jolt of unease.

Something's wrong.

Kaito frowned, sensing danger. It seemed necessary to postpone his plans. As an onmyoji, he had utmost faith in his intuition. He decided to wait until nightfall to observe the stars.

Raising two fingers, he held a colorful paper doll between them. Unlike ordinary paper dolls, this one was detailed with realistic proportions and painted features. When Kaito pressed it against himself, he transformed, adopting the exact appearance depicted on the doll.

...

A young man carrying a drawing board strolled through Konoha's streets, drawing curious glances from the villagers. Though his features weren't striking, his approachable demeanor made him likable. He smiled warmly at everyone who accidentally made eye contact, making them feel a gentle breeze had swept over them.

An artistic temperament, a blushing girl thought.

Kaito's presence in Konoha wasn't part of any plan; he simply wanted to enjoy a good meal. With his plans postponed, he wasn't willing to continue eating dried rations outdoors.

"Is there something wrong?" Kaito, maintaining a harmless smile, looked kindly at the boy with sunglasses blocking his path.

Shino scrutinized the artist-like young man before shaking his head and walking away.

"What's up, Shino?" Kiba ran over, looking at the stranger's back.

"When I got close to him, my insects became agitated, but I couldn't detect anything unusual upon closer inspection," Shino said, frowning.

"No worries, he's just a normal guy. Akamaru didn't smell anything off either, right?" Kiba said nonchalantly.

"Woof, woof!" Akamaru barked in agreement.

"My Byakugan didn't see anything unusual either. He doesn't have chakra," Hinata added, coming from the side.

"It must be because of the complex smell of his paints! Even I felt uncomfortable smelling them!" Kiba concluded.

"Woof, woof!" Akamaru nodded vigorously.

Shino thought for a moment and accepted this explanation.

Though at a distance, Kaito heard their conversation. He continued walking leisurely, ignoring the discussion about him.

After enjoying a sumptuous dinner, Kaito arrived at the Naka River. Feeling inspired, he set up his drawing board and began painting. The fiery sunset reflected off the sparkling river surface, mirroring the dim, broken houses on the opposite bank.

Footsteps approached from behind him, stopping as someone watched him paint. Immersed in his art, he ignored everything around him.

Another set of footsteps and a girl's voice sounded, "Sakura, you're here!"

Sakura turned her gaze from the stranger's artwork and gestured for Ino to be quiet.

The commotion seemed to have disturbed the young artist, who turned to look at them.

'Sakura, another of Sasuke's teammates?'

Kaito smiled as he greeted them, "Hello, young kunoichi."
