Kaito manipulated the fully formed Susanoo to bend down and effortlessly extract the Box of Bliss from the rock wall.
Susanoo cradled the Box of Bliss in its hands, slightly bent its knees, and then leapt out of the underground space. Its wings spread wide, lifting Kaito into the sky.
Next, Susanoo raised the Box of Bliss, examining it closely.
Such dense malice!
Kaito thought to himself. It looks like it needs to be emptied once.
With his objective achieved, Kaito prepared to leave.
He controlled Susanoo to flap its wings and ascend higher.
"Wait!!"
Mui's voice echoed once more. Kaito looked down.
By this time, the wide courtyard of Hozuki Castle had completely collapsed, turning into a massive crater.
Mui stood at the edge of the pit, looking desperate.
Susanoo hovered in the air, and Kaito's voice sounded, "Do you still want to take back the Box of Bliss?"
"No, you can take the Box of Bliss," Mui shouted, "I just have one request!"
"What are you saying, Mui!"
"How dare you! Are you going to betray the Hidden Grass Village?"
Four masked figures in black robes emerged from the pit, angrily pointing at Mui.
"Grass Shadow Style, Explosive Palm!"
Mui moved with lightning speed, taking down the four black-robed figures with a few swift blows.
"You... how dare you..."
"The village no longer exists in my heart since my son sacrificed himself." Mui looked at them coldly.
The surrounding guards and prisoners, stunned by the scene, scattered in all directions.
Mui turned to Kaito in the air and shouted, "Please, give me a chance to open the Box of Bliss. Afterward, you can take it."
"Oh? Do you have a wish you must fulfill?" Kaito asked, intrigued.
Mui closed his eyes briefly and spoke in a low voice, "To open the Box of Bliss, the Hidden Grass Village conducted countless experiments, sacrificing many lives. In the end, even my son, Mukou, was sacrificed. Since then, my only wish has been to see Mukou again."
"You mean your son was thrown into the Box of Bliss?" Kaito asked, surprised.
Tears welled up in Mui's eyes as he nodded.
"Impossible. The malice within this box can distort anyone's will," Kaito said, somewhat helplessly. "Even if you open the box, do you think the person who emerges will still be your son?"
Bang!
Mui fell to his knees, hands on the ground.
Kaito's overwhelming power made it clear that fighting was futile.
If the Box of Bliss was taken away, he would never have another chance.
So, even if he had to kneel and beg, he would not hesitate.
Because this was the only possible way to fulfill his wish.
"Please let me see my son again, I beg you!"
A shadow descended from the sky with a thud, placing the Box of Bliss before Mui.
Kaito retracted Susanoo, standing atop the Box of Bliss, looking down at the kneeling Mui.
He didn't particularly care about Mui's plea.
There was no point in regretting sacrificing his son now.
And the way the Box of Bliss fulfilled wishes would surely be twisted. Even if it was opened, the result wouldn't be what Mui wanted.
But Kaito had already said his piece. If Mui insisted on risking his life, Kaito wouldn't stop him.
After all, he needed to open the box once to clear the malice inside.
Mui looked up at Kaito, understanding that he had agreed to his request, and quickly expressed his gratitude, "Thank you for fulfilling my request."
"I've already warned you. If you insist, do as you wish."
Kaito jumped off the box, casually tossing out several talisman papers before forming a seal with his hands.
"Gather!"
The five talisman papers expanded rapidly in the air, forming a pentagram.
The next moment, a wind arose, and natural energy began to gather continuously.
The demonic face on the Box of Bliss opened its mouth, greedily absorbing the gathered energy.
Buzz!
A vibration sounded, and the eyes on the demonic face of the Box of Bliss lit up, beginning to spin.
When the eyes of the four different expressions on the demonic face lit up, it returned to its original state.
"Go ahead," Kaito said to Mui.
Mui nodded, stood up, and made his request loudly, "In the name of Mukou, please open the Box of Bliss and fulfill the wish of the one who opens it. Let my son, Mukou, appear before me again!"
A cracking sound was heard, and the demonic face on the box split into several pieces, revealing a grotesque beast head.
Roar!
The beast head slowly opened its mouth, revealing pure darkness inside.
Kaito sensed the aura inside the Box of Bliss and couldn't help but frown.
Tap, tap.
Footsteps echoed as a long-haired boy in tattered clothes stumbled out.
He steadied himself, his gaze falling on Mui, and he called out softly, "Father..."
"Mukou!" Tears immediately streamed down Mui's face as he reached out to Mukou, "Mukou, I'm sorry. It was my fault."
"Father..."
Mukou suddenly accelerated, leaping into Mui's arms.
With a ripping sound, Mukou's hand pierced through Mui's chest.
As expected...
Kaito watched coldly from the side, making no move to intervene.
He had sensed it earlier. This Mukou was no longer the same Mukou, Mui's son.
Over time, the box had absorbed too many lives, and the filth inside had grown immensely powerful, even birthing a monster.
Now, driven by Mui's wish, the monster had merged with Mukou.
"I won't spare a father who sends his son to his death."
Mukou, expressionless, said this and withdrew his bloodstained arm, letting Mui's body fall to the ground.
"Don't you have anything to say?" He turned his face to Kaito.
"This has nothing to do with me," Kaito replied calmly.
"I see."
Mukou's arms elongated, growing vicious claws, and his body rapidly transformed, sprouting layers of black feathers.
Amidst constant roars, a black monster with wings, four claws, no eyes, and a long tail appeared, its huge mouth gaping open.
"I can't hear your fear. You must be strong."
Kaito raised an eyebrow, "I suppose so."
The black monster spread its wings and flew into the sky.
"So, even if I throw everyone in this castle into the Box of Bliss, it has nothing to do with you?"
