"Minato Namikaze was truly a genius; this seal successfully utilized the power of the Ryūmyaku itself," Kaito carefully observed the sealing jutsu in front of him. "So even though it has been over a decade, this seal has not weakened at all."
"Are you going to break the seal, Kaito?" Gurē curiously looked at the shuriken-shaped sealing formation on the ground.
Kaito shook his head, "We can't rashly undo it, otherwise the sealed Ryūmyaku energy might burst out suddenly, leading to unforeseen consequences."
"What kind of consequences?"
Kaito smiled mysteriously, "It might even take us to the past or the future, who knows."
"Really?" Gurē's eyes sparkled as he leaned closer, "That sounds like fun!"
"Forget it," Kaito gently pushed him away, "While traveling through time might be an incredible journey, it would disrupt my plans."
Gurē pouted and sat down on the ground, "What a drag! So, what are you going to do now?"
"I need to improve on this seal. Because the divine tree originally drew out energy, the Ryūmyaku energy tends to flow outward due to inertia. We can't just block it; we need to guide it as well..."
Kaito squatted down, muttering to himself while taking out paper and pen to start calculating, becoming completely engrossed in his own world.
"Not this again!" Gurē looked at his back somewhat helplessly, grumbling, "Fine, I'll reluctantly keep watch for you."
...
Uchiha Residence, Ōeyama Mountain.
"I'm back," Sasuke said, pushing open the door with a large scroll on his back.
"Welcome back, Sasuke-kun," Yūrei boredly lay on the living room floor, looking up and saying, "It's so boring being here alone every day…"
"It's your choice to stay at my house all the time; uncle isn't even here."
Sasuke glanced at her and went straight to the coffee table to set down the scroll behind him, then poured himself a glass of water.
"Humph, humph, I'm going to stay right here until Kaito comes back!" Yūrei rolled on the floor.
"I don't care about that."
Sasuke ignored her, drank his water, then placed the scroll on the floor and performed a hand seal.
"Release!"
Bang! A stack of neatly arranged books and scrolls appeared before him.
Sasuke picked up an envelope from the top, labeled with his name.
"What's this?"
Yūrei came closer, her expression changing upon seeing the letter in Sasuke's hands, "Is that from Kaito? Did someone bring it back for him?"
"Yeah," Sasuke nodded.
Yūrei stretched out her hand towards Sasuke.
"What?" Sasuke looked at her, puzzled.
Flushing, Yūrei smiled, "Where's my letter? Give it to me!"
"There's no letter for you." Sasuke turned away and began to open his letter.
"That can't be…"
Yūrei froze.
"It can't be... Kaito knows I'm waiting for him... That night when I got hurt, Kaito was so gentle when he carried me to the room..."
Sasuke put away the letter, looking at her speechlessly, his ears red, "I don't need to know about you adults' stuff! Don't talk about that in front of me!"
Then, he quickly resealed all the documents, picked up the scroll, and ran off to the study.
"Humph, this kid really gets embarrassed easily."
Yūrei watched Sasuke's retreating back and complained, then flopped back onto the floor, rolling around.
"That damn Kaito, forgetting to write me a letter!" She pounded the floor in frustration, then suddenly changed her demeanor and laughed, "No, no, Kaito must be waiting to meet me in dreams... I got it! Heh, just you wait, I'll definitely show you!"
In the study, Sasuke carefully read the letter from Kaito.
After a while, a complex expression appeared on his face.
He set down the letter and stared blankly at his hands.
Uncle had already punished those high-ups in Konoha, killed the man named Danzo, and recovered the Uchiha clan's relics, the rest… were Itachi and that man called Obito…
He clenched his fists, stormy emotions brewing in his eyes.
Next time, I must do it myself...
After a while, he undid the seal again and took out all the documents from the scroll, touching the fresh paper.
This was the knowledge passed down by the Uchiha ancestors.
Unfortunately, it was no longer those ancient originals, he thought regretfully.
"This is..." He picked up a scroll marked with a spiral symbol and opened it, "
Uzumaki clan's…"
Thinking of Naruto, he wondered how he was doing with his training.
"I won't let you surpass me," Sasuke said with a confident smile, "Next time we meet, I'll definitely show you the difference between us."
He walked to the desk, spread out the papers, and picked up a brush to start writing a letter.
I'll have uncle give Naruto a copy of the Uzumaki stuff; although I'm sure that idiot won't understand those complicated sealing techniques.
I just don't want to take advantage of that dead last, he firmly thought.
...
Rōran, Ryūmyaku Node.
Kaito finally showed a satisfied smile and stretched lazily.
"Kaito, are you done studying? I'm starving!"
Gurē saw Kaito's movements and hurriedly stood up, eagerly looking at him.
"Ah? Sorry, I lost track of time when I get focused," Kaito apologized with a smile, handing him a pack of jerky, "Here, eat this."
Gurē cheered, grabbed the jerky with one hand and started stuffing his face with the other.
Kaito shook his head, turned back, and picked up a brush to start adding new spells on the Ryūmyaku seal.
Though he only drew a few strokes, the entire seal immediately changed.
All the spells lit up one by one, the new spells smoothly integrated into the flow, and the whole formation shifted from a shuriken shape to Kaito's usual pentagram seal.
Hum...
A deep sound emerged, causing the entire platform to tremble slightly, and golden light suddenly lit up from beneath the abyss.
"What's happening? Is it collapsing?!" Gurē, with jerky in his mouth, looked around nervously.
"It's okay, it will stabilize soon," Kaito walked to the edge of the platform, calmly looking down into the abyss.
Sure enough, after a while, the golden light that emerged slowly extinguished, and everything returned to calm.
"Is that it? I can't feel any change," Gurē asked, somewhat puzzled.
"That's how it is, the Ryūmyaku has calmed down, but now I'll need your help,"
Kaito handed a piece of talisman paper to Gurē, instructing, "I need to communicate further and completely with the Ryūmyaku. If my body undergoes any changes during the process, please stick this talisman on me to wake me up."
"No problem!" Gurē took the talisman paper and nodded, "Leave it to me!"
"It's in your hands now."
Kaito turned back to the sealing formation, sat down cross-legged, formed hand seals, and closed his eyes.
