Chapter 29 - Revered Magus Chapter 29 – Prices of skills

When Rio finally got his runic dagger back, Rio placed it in his spatial ring and took the spatial rings that Josh looted including his and Rose's, broke the seal encased in the ring, and searched through it. The 3 men Josh disposed of only had monster corpses in their storage rings, and Josh and Rose had a sizeable amount of spirit stones albeit low-grade.

Rio then realized that monster corpses can be sold, but he didn't really care since he had his own personal piggybank called Lara, Rio

searched the remaining things in the storage rings and nothing special was found. When Rio searched through everything which didn't take up to a minute, Rio headed his way back to the academy.

Before Rio came back to the academy, he put every monster corpse in Josh's ring which seemed to be the only ring that could fit the number of corpses there were, and sold it at the Academy Market.

There were roughly 50 low-level beasts and 20 Intermediate-level beasts, and Rio received 3 Medium Grade Spirit Stones. After Rio received the payment, Rio went to the forest to throw the ring away and went back to his dorm, who knows if there is a tracker on the ring?

It is best to get rid of any possible lead that could put Rio into trouble, Rio doesn't know if he had a backer behind him, and if it is an elder or family behind him, that would basically make me a dead man walking.

'System how much EXP can I get from the Medium Grade Spirit Stones?' Rio asked as he placed his hand on one of the stones he received.

[Ding!]

[Host can receive 100EXP from Medium Grade Spirit Stone]

'Ten times as much as Low-Level Grade Spirit Stone but it would be wasted if I exchanged for such little EXP.' Rio thought before checking his status

[Ding!]

Name: Rio Casmir

EXP- 28,100

Class: 2nd rank Mage

Subclass: 1st Rank Hachidan Martial Artist

Strength: 54.6

Agility: 57.8

Endurance: 52.0

Mana: 150.0

'I didn't manage to reap enough EXP for me to rank from 2nd Rank mage to 3rd Rank Mage and this outing made me realize that I am far too weak to venture out by myself, it's best if I stay here and improve my strength before trying to leave this place, this place is too little for someone like me to be in for the rest of my life, I can't see myself devoting my loyalty to someplace like this.'

First, Rio needs to get the 6 fundamentals down which include: Attack, Defense, Surveillance, Healing, buffing, and movement. Rio already got attacked down due to the spells he got from the inheritance, and he has a movement-type spell, but it is far too slow for Rio now.

There are still two days left before the competition. It would be best if Rio could get a Defense and movement spell he could use before the competition.

Rio went to the library and requested to get a spell. The librarian and he have gotten close since for the past 6 months, Rio has been reading in the library but only on the first two floors when no spell books were and just books with general knowledge

However, since Rio is a Mage now, he can venture toward the 3rd Floor. Which contains all the Human Level Spells from Bronze to Diamond, however the price increases in accordance with the level.

There were six floors, however, the sixth floor was a place where special core disciples go, and only the top of the Core Disciples, Rio was an inner sect disciple at the moment, and the difference between inner disciples and core disciples was like word apart especially when it came to treatments.

Once you're a core disciple, instead of a dorm, you have your own private house, which is the closest to the giant spirit stone that made the academy rich with mana, the closest you are the denser the mana is.

Rio entered the 3rd floor and skipped everything and started analyzing through the Diamond Level Spell books and martial arts. Rio found a darkness movement spell book; however, the spell only works when shadows are around, which would be helpful in the dark, but he had found things that would be helpful in the competition.

Plus, the price was 10 High-Grade Spirit Stones, Rio doesn't even think Lara would be able to afford that. Right now, Rio has 50 Medium Grade Spirit stones including the money he took from Lara.

And everything in the Diamond Level was at least 5 High-Grade Spirit Stones and above. So, Rio started searching through the Platinum Level Spell books, which were more in my budget, with the most expensive being 80 Medium Grade Spirit Stone.

[Ding!]

[Galago Movement Art... when practicing this technique, energy is stored in the Host's tendons and can give a burst of speed, most effective whilst in crouch start position]

However, Rio was not looking for the most expensive, he was looking for the most efficient and suitable for him. Until Rio found one that seemed very suitable for him and it seemed to be a growth-type movement art

[Ding!]

[Octane Movement Art... Give the host a surging burst of speed for a specific amount of time]

It seems that time depends on the endurance of the body, the higher the endurance of the body, the longer the duration of the movement art.

Luckily, Rio spread out his stat points evenly enough for everything to be relevant. On average a normal person could use this movement for a minute but he could probably use this for ten minutes as he was, the more Rio invested in endurance the longer he could use the movement skill.

Ten minutes should be enough since the speed of this movement art is around five times as fast as the wind chaser movement art.

And since there is a time limit, the price doesn't seem to be expensive too either. Rio can afford 30 Medium Spirit Stones. Rio entered his token into the slot under the skill and it opened up the transparent case, Rio took the book and started searching for a defensive spell book that he could use.

Rio stayed in the Platinum section since this was around his budget, so he could possibly find a defensive spell for around 20 medium-grade Spirit Stones.

After a couple of minutes of scanning the was no defensive skill good enough for Rio that he could afford.

After 20 minutes of searching through Gold and silver and not finding anything he liked, Rio went to bronze, just to try his luck, and found something that caught his eye.

[Ding!]

[Host analyzed Adaptive shell technique...this technique allows the host's body to be more durable depending on the amount of mana that is provided]

This seems very good, Rio wondered why It is in the bronze section, and it only cost 10 low-level grade spirit stones. Rio put his token in the slot under the skill and took the skill book out and walked towards the booth to pay 30 Medium Grade and 10 Low-level Spirit stones.
