Chapter 56 - Chapter 17: Factory Secrets!

"The world before him was all splashes of water!

Jia Yan, startled, hastily spread his wings, with splashes of water chasing behind him!

He took flight!

The pursuit of chemical liquid was incredibly fast. Jia Yan directly retreated back into the pipe he came from!

Splashes of water behind him sprinkled, a few drops even splashed onto Jia Yan's body, leaving a slight sense of pain.

In an instant, Jia Yan accelerated to his limit, then his body, unable to turn at the corner of the pipeline, suddenly collided with the pipe wall!

Buzzing!

The sound of his wings rubbing against the pipe wall was grating!

His body descended freely, with the chemical waste water closely pursuing, almost submerging Jia Yan's hind legs.

"Almost there! Almost there!"

The dark sewer was right in front of him, about to reach it, and Jia Yan's speed soared once again!

Reached it!

Quick, turn!

Buzzing!

The frequency of his wing flaps almost reached Jia Yan's limit.

In the upper space of the sewer, Jia Yan, who had crashed down from the pipe, abruptly made a sharp stop in mid-air using his wings.

Then his body quickly darted aside!

The surging chemical waste water flowed right next to him, rushing down with a crashing sound!

Smashing into the sewer, countless splashes of water rose.

Jia Yan flew a little further away.

The feeling of being chased by the chemical waste was not pleasant at all.

Jia Yan felt like he had shortened his lifespan by a few months out of fear.

Fortunately, he had managed to evade. The feeling of being immersed in that chemical waste wouldn't be good at all. A few splashes were fine, but if his whole body got soaked, it could spell serious trouble!

"Actually, in that moment just now, there were two choices. One was to continue back along the pipeline, and the other was to fly out from the observation port. But that way, there's no way to conceal my presence; I'd be facing all those workers directly. Besides, there are no other escape routes in the workshop, so the danger would be even greater. So my instant decision was correct!"

Jia Yan really hesitated for just a fraction of a second there, he wasn't sure if it was that short, but he did hesitate for a moment. Fortunately, he didn't choose to escape into the workshop, because if he had, he might have ended up in even greater danger now!

"In this workshop, I've found an infiltration route, but there are too many people. Now I need to get to the outside and wait for an opportunity!"

Jia Yan firmly believed that something must have happened in this factory; otherwise, why would those two workers' whispered conversations be so eerie!

So he could wait, as long as he stayed a bit outside the factory, he was confident that an opportunity would come!

"And those people in the tent, this group will eventually find their way here. When they appear, it will be another variable. Maybe that's my chance!"

Jia Yan was convinced, climbing out through the spacious upper part of the sewer, heading towards the drainage outlet!

The outside was still pitch-black in the early morning.

A giant version of a mosquito, its wings fluttering, carefully avoiding the cameras, flew into the air...

The night would pass, and dawn would come.

Compared to the forests in the night, the morning forest had a hint of green vitality, the embodiment of life.

But for the group of people who set out in the forest early in the morning, it was not so pleasant.

"Teacher, we don't have any signal on our phones here. Who do you think should go out and contact the police and relevant personnel?" The young man, Lin's student, said, holding his bruised arm.

All five of them were carrying backpacks, their luggage piled up.

The teacher, Lin, looked at the team, three men and two women, then glanced past his eagerly waiting student to the middle-aged driver who served as their guide.

"Mr. Jin, please go back, but remember to explain to the police, and hang up this phone. Just say it's the phone I gave you, pass on the information we told you to the other side, and they'll take care of everything. You'll also get your salary from them."

"Okay, Teacher Lin." Mr. Jin was initially nervous, wondering how he got involved in something that seemed so complicated, even possibly connected to a world war decades ago, and seemed really dangerous.

After Mr. Jin left, Lin, ignoring the slightly resentful expression on the male student's face, led the team into the deep mountains.

Day quickly passed, and night came again.

Then, night passed once more, and the bright daylight descended again.

The golden morning light illuminated the earth, and Jia Yan bathed in this morning light, quietly hiding among the trees.

He would always rest for a few hours every day, just like before. When he rested, he would still fall asleep and dream.

Yesterday he had a dream. Through the purple-red potion, he became a super-sized mosquito. As for how big, he had no concept, just a feeling that when he flew in the pitch-black place, the hurricane he stirred up could radiate energy. The energy radiating from the explosion would splatter in all directions towards the dark space...

But when he saw a huge sphere in his dream, he woke up.

He only remembered that in the dream, when he saw the huge sphere, he was very excited and flew towards it.

"Why does that sphere look a bit like... a planet?"

Well, that dream was too surreal, don't dwell on it.

Jia Yan kept his gaze on the three buildings in front of him.

After observing here for two days, Jia Yan found that there must be something going on in the factory.

Northeastern Tiger would occasionally bring a few tough-looking men to inspect the factory.

There would also be roars coming from the factory from time to time!

"There must be something happening in the factory, maybe even a workers' revolt. If chaos breaks out, that's when my opportunity will come!"

Jia Yan was slightly excited. If a major change occurred in the factory, he might have a chance even greater than being soaked in the purple-red potion. Would the degree of mutation be even more severe?

He was looking forward to it!

In the factory, both Northeastern Tiger and the man with glasses appeared somewhat tired.

"Boss, there was another incident yesterday. There was some kind of explosion in that place again. Luckily, no workers were inside, but the equipment was damaged. I hurriedly sent the mechanics over to repair the valve temporarily, and that's what allowed the workshop to resume normal operation!"

The man with glasses had an indiscernible look beneath his thick lenses.

He asked in a low voice, "Boss, can you tell me now what that hole is all about?!"

Northeastern Tiger also looked at his subordinate with a deep gaze.

This student from a third-rate university had been underestimated by many, but during their first conversation at the job fair, he could see that this person was exceptionally knowledgeable, and his demeanor was not that of a fresh graduate. He should be a capable subordinate.

So Northeastern Tiger employed him, and he turned out to be reliable, becoming his top subordinate.

He also trusted this

 subordinate.

Northeastern Tiger sorted out his words.

Then he said, "Yu Xunren, if you want to know, you must keep it to yourself. If I find out you leaked even the slightest bit of information, I'll personally kill you. Do you still want to know now?"

The man with glasses smiled, his face a bit twisted.

"Boss, you know me. Have you ever heard me mention anything about this factory, even to you? Alright, if you don't trust me, it doesn't matter if I don't know."

Northeastern Tiger shook his head. "Okay, I'll tell you..."

"Here, during the war, it was occupied by the Japanese, and then they built these three buildings in this place."

"Then, inhuman experiments were conducted on some of our ancestors. After that, something happened, and you and I both know what it is. There were many domestic and foreign troops stationed here during the war."

"The result of the occupation was that no one knew what this facility was for in the end. Even on the Japanese side, many records and executives were killed or injured, and these three buildings were completely forgotten."

"But I'm different!" There was a complex light in Northeastern Tiger's eyes.

"My great-grandfather was one of the victims! He left us descendants with documents, and even... he left behind a few drug formulas!"

"Most importantly, he told us descendants that if we had the ability in the future, we should guard this place!"

"Why should we guard it?!" The man with glasses furrowed his brow, Northeastern Tiger's words sounded a bit too fantastical.

Northeastern Tiger looked directly at the man with glasses, then shook his head.

Maybe he didn't know the answer to this question, or maybe he knew a bit but didn't want to say.

Seeing the expression on the other's face, the man with glasses tactfully didn't inquire further.

But in his heart, he felt a creeping sense of terror towards 'that place' in the factory.

The scorching sun in the sky hung high above their heads.

Jia Yan still lay hidden among the trees near the factory, waiting for his chance.

And the four-person exploration team stumbled out of the jungle...

Before long, they arrived in front of the factory formed by the three buildings!"
