DGP Veer Singh, a tall and imposing figure with sharp eyes and a weathered face that spoke of years of service, strode toward Rajeev with a broad smile. "How are you, my boy?" he called out warmly.
Rajeev's face lit up instantly upon seeing him. Veer Singh wasn't just any officer to Rajeev—he was one of Rudra's closest childhood friends. He had practically watched Rajeev grow up and had always treated him like his own son.
Rajeev stepped forward, embracing him tightly. "Uncle, it's been ages! I'm good, but it's been a while. How have you been?"
Veer chuckled, patting Rajeev's back before pulling away. ""I'm doing well, my boy. Just passing through this city for some work when I heard you were having a bit of trouble. So I came running. You know I can't leave you hanging," he said with a wink. Then, glancing at Abhi, Veer grinned. "Ah, my little buddy," he greeted, his tone filled with affection. Despite their small age difference, Veer often called Abhi his "little buddy," while Abhi, in turn, playfully referred to him as "big buddy."
"Hey, big buddy," Abhi replied with a smile, clearly happy to see him. "Glad you could make it in time. I wasn't about to let Rajeev handle this mess alone."
Veer clapped Abhi on the shoulder. "I know I owe you for this one. Thanks for the call. Wouldn't have known if you hadn't given me the heads-up."
Abhi had learned early that morning that Veer was in town. So, when things had gotten tense at the mall, he immediately called Veer, letting him know Rajeev might be in danger. Veer wasted no time, getting the exact location from Abhi and speeding to the scene without hesitation. As soon as he arrived, he ordered his officers to arrest the don and his thugs without asking any questions.
The don, a man used to intimidating everyone around him, visibly shrank when he saw Veer. He had heard of Veer Singh's reputation—of how ruthless he could be when dealing with criminals. And the don had more than enough skeletons in his closet to be truly terrified.
Veer's eyes shifted to the don, who was still struggling against the officers holding him. "What did he do?" he asked, his voice low but commanding.
Rajeev, his jaw still tight with anger, gestured toward the man. "He just made an alley about my spouse", Rajeev replied, his tone seething.
Veer's expression darkened instantly. He turned back to his officers, his face stern. "Get me his full record," he barked.
The don, who had already been pale with fear, visibly paled further. He had run into many officers in his time, but none struck fear in him quite like Veer Singh. A chill ran down his spine as he realized the gravity of his situation.
The officer standing by nodded sharply and left to gather the necessary details, leaving the don and his goons in the hands of the remaining officers. There was no escape for them now.
As the officers dragged the don away, Veer turned back to Rajeev, his stern expression softening slightly. "Don't worry, Rajeev. This guy's going to pay for everything he's done. We'll make sure of it."
Rajeev gave a small nod, his rage still simmering beneath the surface but now mixed with a sense of relief. "Thank you, uncle. I knew I could count on you."
Veer placed a hand on Rajeev's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze. "Always, my boy. Always."
Veer turned to face the two stunning females who were approaching them after the policemen had departed. Sashi is already known to Veer as Abhi's wife. Then his eyes shifted to Gowthami, her grace and beauty evident even in the casual way she walked. A smirk appeared on his face as he asked, "So, this is your wife?"
Rajeev grinned broadly and replied, "Yes, she is. Let me present her to you. Her name is Gowthami, and we will soon be hitched."
Veer's expression softened as he gave an approving nod. "Whoa, hearing that you had finally entered your life to have a family of your own was really wonderful news."
Gowthami, smiling politely, stepped forward to greet Veer. "Hello, sir," she said, her voice sweet but confident, and she bowed slightly to receive his blessings.
Veer placed a hand on her head gently, as if she were his own daughter. "Good, my child," he said warmly. "I wish you both a lifetime of happiness and love."
He admired the way she carried herself, appreciating her respectful demeanor. It was clear that she had won his approval in mere moments.
With a cheery grin, he turned to face Rajeev and remarked, "Nice choice. Rajeev, I feel that that your loved ones will be really pleased for you guys wherever they are. She is extremely attractive and well-behaved among elders."
Veer was well-aware of Rajeev's past as well as the misfortune that had befallen him. He had a great deal of sympathy with Rajeev since he had a difficult upbringing without parental guidance. The loss and loneliness Rajeev had endured as a child were still fresh in Veer's mind, and he couldn't help but feel a deep sympathy for the man Rajeev had become. But seeing him now, with a future wife by his side, gave Veer a sense of comfort and pride.
Just then, Ram approached, his usual energy apparent in the bounce of his step. Veer turned to him, grinning playfully. "Hey, angry bird!" he called, using a nickname he'd given Ram for his feisty nature, knowing it would get a laugh out of him.
Ram chuckled and stepped in for a hearty embrace. "Good to see you again, uncle. It's been too long."
Veer returned the hug with a firm pat on Ram's back. "Always a pleasure, my boy. So," he teased, glancing at Ram with mock seriousness, "So, when are you launching with your familial life, and where the heck is your girlfriend?" while glancing at Ram.
Abhi burst out laughing at Veer's question about Ram's love life, the sound so loud it drew stares from passersby. Ram, annoyed, shot him a fierce look, but that only made Abhi laugh harder.
