Chapter 23 - Welcome to your new home

Gowthami spent the next fifteen days in the Vedhika Memorial Hospital, under Rajeev's careful watch and treatment. Each day, she grew stronger, her wounds healing well under his expert care. Despite Rajeev's tireless efforts to locate her family, reaching out to local police and using every possible resource, no clues emerged about her past. It was as if she had appeared out of nowhere.

Finally, realizing that she had nowhere else to go, Rajeev made the decision to bring Gowthami to his home. One bright morning, he approached her bedside, carrying a sense of hope and determination.

"Gowthami," he said gently, "I've been trying to find your family, but so far, we've had no luck. I don't want you to stay here in the hospital any longer than necessary. How would you feel about coming to stay with me at my home?"

Gowthami looked up at him, her eyes reflecting a mix of gratitude and uncertainty. "Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden."

Rajeev smiled warmly. "You're not a burden, Gowthami. I'd be happy to have you stay with me. My house is big and can use some more life in it."

She hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Thank you, Dr. Rajeev. I'd like that."

Later that day, Rajeev guided Gowthami to his car, helping her settle into the passenger seat. The drive through the village of Dharmagiri was serene, the landscape filled with lush greenery and the simple beauty of rural life. Gowthami watched the scenery pass by, feeling a sense of peace despite the lingering questions about her past.

They arrived at Rajeev's home—a charming, large mansion that exuded warmth and history. The house was nestled amidst gardens filled with vibrant flowers and ancient trees, their branches swaying gently in the breeze. The stone facade of the mansion was covered in ivy, giving it an almost ethereal quality.

Rajeev helped Gowthami out of the car, leading her through the grand entrance. The interior of the house was just as welcoming, with wooden floors polished to a gleam and large windows letting in streams of natural light. The rooms were adorned with family heirlooms and photographs, each telling a story of a rich and storied past.

"This is beautiful," Gowthami said, her voice filled with awe.

"Welcome to your new Home," Rajeev said, smiling. "Let me show you around."

He led her through the spacious living room, the cozy library filled with books old and new, and the kitchen where the aroma of freshly baked bread lingered in the air. They finally reached a room with a large bed, soft linens, and a view overlooking the garden.

"This will be your room," Rajeev said, opening the door wide. "I hope you'll be comfortable here."

Gowthami stepped inside, running her fingers along the edge of the bed. "It's perfect. Thank you, Rajeev."

As the days turned into weeks, Gowthami settled into her new life at Rajeev's home. She helped with the garden, enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, and grew closer to Rajeev. They spent many evenings on the veranda, talking about life, medicine, and the mysteries of the past.

Though her memory had not yet returned, Gowthami found a sense of belonging she hadn't felt in a long time. Rajeev's kindness and the warmth of his home gave her the strength to move forward, one day at a time. Together, they faced the future, knowing that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would meet them with resilience and hope.
