Kaito, Yukie, Ryan, and Ivan all sat at the lunch table after classes were finished. It was silent for a bit before Yukie gave her imput on the matter.
"Maybe if we try to get them to talk with each other, then they'll become friends again."
Kaito then shook his head. "No. That wouldn't work. They'll just end up fighting again."
"Who are you talking to, Kaito?" Ryan asked, tilting his head.
Kaito had forgotten that only he could see Yukie. "Oh, that's right. Uh...you." He saved himself.
"Well, okay." Ryan sighed.
"Maybe something really bad happened between them?" Ivan lifted up a sign.
"Yeah, that could be the case." Kaito then glanced over at Ryan who wasn't talking about the situation. "Ryan. You knew Yijun longer than I have. Do you know about the feud between her and Charlotte?"
Ryan then clenched his teeth, taking a sharp breath through them before spilling the beans. "Er...actually. Yes."
"You do?" Yukie and Kaito asked in unison.
"Yes. I am actually Yijun's ex-boyfriend."
Kaito's eyes widen when realizing this. That could have been why Yijun was mad at Ryan.
"Ex-boyfriend?" Kaito muttered under his breath.
"You see, it was back in our last year of middle school when Yijun and I started dating. She was cute, and I never saw anyone so beautiful in my life. But do you know what Sirens are?"
"Yeah, that mythical creature that seduces pirates with their voice, right?" Ivan added.
"Exactly. My family is a line of Sirens. Except my mom and dad couldn't produce a daughter, I ended up with that gift." Ryan sighed.
"So that's why whenever you talk I feel captivated." Kaito finally understood.
"Yes, but I don't know why hearing that come from a man makes me feel disgusted." Ryan nodded his head. "Anyway, she accepted me despite that trait of mine, but no matter what, I had to speak. But everytime I spoke, girls would literally throw themselves at me. It hurt at first, but then seeing Yijun hurt like that hurt even more. Charlotte was a girl who actively tried to take me from Yijun. They used to be friends, but my power was too strong that even she, despite her efforts, fell in love with me. I hate my gift." Ryan lowered his head.
A fight between two girls over one guy seemed to be an overdone trope in Kaito's eyes, but these two were going to be Kaito's friends, whether they liked it or not.
"I understand." Kaito nodded his head. "We're going to devise a well thought out plan to bring the two closer together again. Okay?"
"I doubt that would work." Ryan shook his head. "The two are mad at me, so if I try getting them back together, it'll just be futile."
"If only I could find a way to convince him." Kaito mumbled to himself.
"I have an idea." Yukie stood up before placing her hand onto Ryan's forehead and closed her eyes. "Rewind." She said before sitting back down and looking over at Kaito with a smile. "Try reading his mind before he says anything."
"Stop." Kaito raised his hand, stopping Ryan from speaking right before he was going to. "Even if you may feel like you can't do anything to help them, Ryan, you're our friend. I believe in you." Kaito gave him a warm smile.
Ryan couldn't help but accept. "Alright. I was going to say that I doubt it would work, but now, I'll help."
Kaito's eyes widened, not because Ryan actually agreed to help, but because Yukie did something to convince Ryan. Kaito thought that Yukie couldn't come in contact with anyone.
"Alright. I'll go bathroom, and then we'll discuss more on this 'togetherness' plan." Ryan stood up and left.
"Me too." Ivan narrowed his eyes at Kaito, seemingly suspicious about what just happened there too before running with Ryan to the bathroom.
"What on earth did you do to Ryan, there, Yukie?" Kaito wanted to ask her louder, but with the amount of people around, it was too dangerous.
"Er...I just rewinded time only for him. That's all." Yukie grinned.
"Huh?" Kaito had specifically remembered that Yukie told him that she couldn't use any of her powers without him. "That doesn't add up, Yukie. You said you needed me in order to use your powers. You were the mind, and I was the body."
Yukie flinched before she remembered she did tell him thay. She looked down at ther hands before fiddling with her fingers. "Oh, yeah. I did say that, didn't I?"
"Why are you able to use your powers without my help? As I thought. You are keeping secrets from me, aren't you?" Kaito furrowed his eyebrows. "I knew that something was off about you from the start. Why do you keep lying to me?"
"Kaito..." Yukie tried taking his hand, but he took his hand away from her.
"You know what? I can deal with this friend thing by myself anyway. You don't have to help me anymore since the mind apparently can work on its own without the body." Kaito stood up and stormed off.
"Kaito!" He heard Yukie, but he didn't look back once.
Why did she keep secrets from him just like his grandfather?
