The hours passed by swiftly, just when the sun was about to rise was when I finally arrived at my apartment. The officer pulled up into one of the spaces, "We're here."
I open the door and step out, "Thank you for the ride."
She doesn't respond and drives away. Hmm, okay. Looking away from her cruiser, I see another a few spots over. Why was there an Officer here? I hurry my steps through the door and up the stairs. UP three flights and down two hallways, I was at my door. I open it and step through to see… four people playing video games. Two of them were Ryung and Hana, the other two were officers. Or, more specifically, Xin and Korinn.
Someone pauses the game while everyone looks over to me. Upon seeing and recognizing me, Ryung and Hana bolt to me, giving a big ol' hug. I bend down to give them a hug back while keeping an eye on Xin and Korinn. How long had they been here?
Ignoring that, I ask a question to both my siblings, "How was it when I was gone?"
Hana doesn't say anything so Ryung replies in her stead, "We've been doing well. Ms. Xin and Mr. Korinn were watching over us until you got back. You'd be surprised at how good they are at playing!"
"That's good to hear."
I then look to Hana. Though she looks at peace right now, there's a deep trauma that's forming or has already formed. The experience must have been awful.
Suddenly she yelps in surprise, "Why did you pinch me?"
I'm about to ask her what she means when the realization hits me that my hand was closed in a near death grip. I loosen my hand and offer an apology. She doesn't say anything but she seems worried, Ryung too.
"Don't worry, just thought about something. What game are you all playing?"
"We're playing one Ms. Xin brought over. I think it was called… King Chun's Grand Conquest. It's really fun! We all control a kingdom and declare wars and trade and talk and it's so much fun!"
I chuckle a little at his enthusiasm, "Sounds like you had fun. What about you, Hana?"
"I also had fun."
"That's good."
Giving them one last hug, I stand and start talking to the two Officers, "Thank you two for coming here and looking after them, but why are you here exactly?"
"Officer Xin and I were assigned to protect Ryung and Hana from further attempts of kidnapping or assault. Officer Xin got bored from just looking after the kids and decided to play some games after bringing them here."
Xin speaks now, trying to clear up the situation and dissuade me from the apparent false perspective, "It wasn't just for me, Hana and Ryung weren't having fun in that sterile room. We needed something fun to do."
Most of that was probably directed at Officer Korinn and only partly at me. But it is nice to know that they weren't confined to a room with nothing to do… How did they get authorized to leave? And when did they get into it?
"When did you get here, and before you answer that, what time is it?"
"It's, I don't know. Korinn, what time is it?"
He breathes in and sighs deeply, "It's currently seven fifty in the morning."
"So were you all playing, all night?"
The two officers look at eachother, or more like Xin looks at an astonished Korinn who starts near, but not quite, shouting. "You three played for that long!? We got here at eleven! That's near seven hours straight!"
"In my defense they kept wanting to have a rematch!"
"They're Kids! You're an adult! Know when to call it quits!"
Xin tries to defend herself more but only sputters of sound is all that comes out of her mouth before she fully admits defeat.
She starts to speak but on a different topic, "We should probably leave now, that you're here."
"I guess so."
They both start to leave, saying bye to Ryung and Hana and how much they enjoyed watching over them. Before they've fully left the apartment, I tell them, "If you two want to come back sometime, just tell me. I'll set it up."
Korinn nods while Xin smiles and says, "I'll be waiting", with a wink.
I stand still as they both walk away, heart fluttering a furry. Only once asked by Hana what's wrong am I pulled from the stupor. "Sorry, it's just, I just. I like Ms. Xin."
" "We know" "
"Wait what?"
"Yeah, Ms. Xin told us you have a crush on her. She said it makes her feel weird yet nice at the same time."
I just blankly blink at them. She knew this whole time. Oh God, she Knew, This Whole Time!
"Why didn't she say anything!?"
"You obviously know nothing about girls. You wouldn't know what to do."
"You're right, Hana, but shut up."
She laughs at my humorous jab. It's nice seeing her able to smile and laugh after such short time.
"Seeing as how it's already six fifty, let's go to bed for the night. We'll reconvene in the morning, sounds good?"
" "Yeah" "
"Then head on to your rooms and fall asleep. If I hear any noise, I'll beatch ya!"
They scurry off laughing while I'm in the living room. Once their doors are closed I sit down on the couch, entirely drained and entirely afraid of the day's affair. Hana was kidnapped at one of the safest places to be.
There's also what happened at the warehouse. My actions weren't my own, Hell, I bit someone's skull out. It only happened after I was about to die, after my Gi exploded in volume. Does… does my Gi have a mine of its own? Does it have its own will? Will it take over?
Wait, before that I was shot. Take my blood stained shirt and look at my chest to see… nothing. It's fine, near perfect actually. No signs of scratches or even bruises, let alone bullets.
Did, when, how, what the fuck!? Am I dreaming? I run my hands over it and, nope, no wounds. The back too, no wounds.
Is this… my reality? Fearful for not only my siblings now that one of them got captured, but also that I may just sometimes just turn into a murder monster? Count me the fuck out.
