Lyra hesitated, trying to sound convincing. "Nothing. The man claimed he knows nothing about a familiar." She hoped Orpheus would believe her, but his piercing eyes seemed to see right through her deception.
Orpheus raised an eyebrow, his expression unyielding. "I see," he said, his voice dripping with skepticism. Lyra's heart raced as she realized she needed to come up with a better story - or risk facing Orpheus's wrath.
"Lyra, don't think for a moment that my hospitality is a sign of weakness," Orpheus warned, his voice dripping with menace. "If I discover you've betrayed me, even slightly, I'll show you no mercy."
He took a step closer, his eyes blazing with an otherworldly intensity. "If I find out you've deceived me, Lyra, I will end you. No hesitation, no remorse. You'll cease to exist."
