Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

In the heart of Tokyo, the year 2024 unfolds within the cozy confines of 'Sato's Books,' a small haven where our protagonist, Oda Nobunaga, now resides.

Once a brilliant mind in the world of special ops, Oda climbed the ranks swiftly, achieving the distinguished position of special ops commander by the tender age of 23. Renowned for his impeccable combat skills and strategic brilliance, he held an unparalleled success rate of 100%, wielding every weapon at his disposal to secure victory for his team.

However, the sands of time have shifted, and at 27, Oda finds himself in a different role—no longer a commander on the battlefield but a humble clerk in Sato Hiroshi's bookstore. Sato, a fellow veteran and trusted ally from Oda's special ops days, owns the establishment. Together, they weathered the storms of life, forming an unbreakable bond forged in the crucible of military service.

One sweltering summer day, their ordinary lives take an extraordinary turn.

"Commander, are you sure you want to continue working here? What about exploring life more—perhaps forging connections, finding a girlfriend, and embracing experiences more fitting for someone your age?" Sato inquired, genuine concern etched on his face.

"Come on, Sato, I've asked you to drop the 'commander' title, we've both retired, and we're in a bookstore, not the battlefield. Besides, socializing is not my strong suit, especially with people my age," Oda replied with a tinge of sorrow.

Sato sighed, recalling Oda's challenging past. Orphaned at 17, Oda dove straight into the military after high school graduation at 18. Displaying extraordinary growth in shooting, hand-to-hand combat, strategic thinking, and other military skills, Oda, despite his genius, always carried a solemn demeanor, especially in solitude.

Uncertain how to comfort his friend, Sato extended an invitation for dinner: "Alright, Oda, try to make a friend every now and then. I'll be off soon for a family dinner. You're welcome to join; we're having spaghetti and meatballs today—might lift your spirits."

Oda went silent for a short moment. An odd sensation, a premonition perhaps, flickered in the back of his mind.

"Thanks, Sato, but not today. Besides, carbs aren't my thing," Oda replied with a faint smile.

"Alright, you are welcome any time tho." Sato said understandingly and getting ready to leave

As Oda methodically cleaned through the shelves, his eyes caught an enchanting book, reminiscent of an ancient tome. Upon opening it, he encountered cryptic texts and symbols previously unseen. Flipping through the pages, a sudden flash of light enveloped him. In its wake, Oda found himself flooded with memories of lost ancient magic, and his latent magical abilities were unfurled. The tome vanished as quickly as it appeared, leaving Oda to collapse under the weight of newfound knowledge.

As he awoke, the realization struck him like a bolt of arcane energy – he now possessed the powers of ancient magic, fueled by the latent force known as mana. The knowledge absorbed from the mystical tome granted him a potent and nearly immeasurable pool of mana, intertwined with a mysterious power.

Oda's mind swirled with memories of his past missions, the camaraderie of his team, and the pulse-pounding thrill of combat. The bookstore, once a refuge, echoed with the distant sounds of gunfire and the camaraderie of his comrades.

As Oda closed the ancient tome, now a normal book, and tucked it under his arm, he noticed Sato's absence. The soft chime of the doorbell signaled his friend's departure. Sato's words lingered in the air, a reminder of their enduring camaraderie.

Oda sighed, the weight of the ancient magic he now possessed settling upon him. "We've come a long way, haven't we?" he mused to himself.

Among the array of ancient spells at his disposal, the first to captivate his attention was "Nexus Travel." This spell bestowed upon Oda the ability to open portals to a distant world known as 'Nexus.' The prospect of exploring this newfound magic compelled Oda, and he couldn't resist the urge to test the spell upon his return home. The journey into the unknown beckoned, and Oda was ready to unravel the mysteries that lay beyond the portal.

Yearning for the allure of fantasy worlds, Oda often found solace in his daydreams. This day, driven by an irresistible desire, he decided to leave work early.

Upon reaching his spacious house, a relic from his late parents, Oda secured every door. The grandeur of the residence, meant for a family, emphasized his solitary existence. In his room, he prepared for the magical journey.

Whispering the incantation, "Nexus Travel," Oda conjured a substantial portal. It emanated a subdued, green aura, not blinding but undeniably mystical. Through the gateway, he glimpsed a wooden cabin in a realm unknown.

With the knowledge of traversing between worlds, Oda packed essentials for his venture. A determined smile played on his lips as he declared, "Alright, let's go!" Stepping into the portal, he embraced the uncertainty that awaited him on the other side.
