Hero: a character who displays qualities such as bravery, selflessness, and a strong moral compass.
They face formidable challenges, such as saving the world from a great evil or restoring order and peace.
"Fatebound," a fantasy novel I've been reading lately, tells the story of a chosen one selected by the Goddess Athena herself.
The Hero, Gideon, defeated the Order of Demon Worshippers a thousand years ago.
The Worshippers managed to call forth Azazel, the Lord of All Demons, into the Mortal Realm from the depths of the Abyss.
The battle ensued for ages, and millions of lives were lost, but humanity prevailed victorious.
Immediately losing all their power with Azazel's defeat, the remnants of the Order were hunted by the entire world until none were left.
"Demonic Imprint," a tattoo made through pure Demonic Arts, was proof of someone allying themselves with the Evil Forces. It granted them the ability to harness the power of the Abyss for themselves.
However, this mark was also what caused their downfall, as it made them unable to escape pursuit. Everyone in the past era recognized the symbolic pattern.
A millennium passed since their destruction, and not a single movement from the Worshippers appeared. It seemed their end was definite.
Or so they thought.
Fatebound begins when the Hero applies to the Arcane Academy, the most prestigious magic school in the entire Kingdom of Zephyria.
With great talents, he aces the entrance exam, surprising everyone with his skills in both swordsmanship and magic, even gaining the interest of the Princess and the King.
He is THE Hero, the one chosen by the Goddess herself.
I am not someone like that.
"Now... what should I do?"
I never intended for things to turn out this way, for I am currently inside the Fatebound world itself.
"Please tell me I'm dreaming! Another-world transfer was only cool in books; I have no interest in experiencing it myself!"
Fatebound is one hell of a dangerous verse, especially if you're a mob!
I will definitely be killed the moment I encounter the villains. Please, just return me back!!
As my plea goes ignored by the divine, it looks like I have to survive on my own.
In that case, the only path forward is to get stronger as quickly as possible and find a way home.
I will try to avoid involving myself in the storyline, no matter the cost. The protagonist can deal with the evil.
He can have it all: the glory, the praise, even the harem.
Go stop the rise of the lost Demonic Order so everyone in the world can live happily ever after.
Just don't disturb my peaceful life!
