Chereads / Happiness in the end of the world / Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 Sad

Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 Sad

There is a federal government between the primitive beast tribe and the machine battle beast tribe. Except during times of war, this government is virtually non-existent. However, due to the existence of mutated ancient species, the federal government has recently begun to function, activating its central functions. Although the primitive and machine battle tribes are often in conflict and do not see eye to eye, they can still unite against external enemies.

Federal investigator Brooke is the first staff member dispatched by the federal government to deal with Happiness's existence during a non-war period. Prior to Happiness's time travel, his profession was called a special agent.

Brooke is an African lion. Unlike the semi-regular army like Alexander and the others, he is directly under the official authority. When a lion who serves as a deputy editor on a certain website told him about the human girl, he didn't really believe it and thought it was just media hype for the new 3D female star. It wasn't until he took on a secret mission and signed a confidentiality agreement that Brooke admired these media guys for their well-informed information.

Special agents have good self-control. From the moment Brooke saw Happiness, he had a serious sense of unreality. He couldn't say a word in the official language he had prepared until the little girl followed the tiger tribe who was carrying the seashells into the house. Only then did he remember his purpose and pretended to explain with depth, so that the guys from the old fifth district would think that he had been observing their interactions instead of daydreaming.

"Yes, in fact, we have always regarded Happiness as an equal friend," Alexander nodded politely. They didn't intend to let Brooke have a share, so naturally they wouldn't be too enthusiastic towards him. However, the people sent from above completely ignoring him was also unacceptable. If they were to go to the highest court in the future, Brooke's investigation report would carry a lot of weight.

Bern deliberately slowed down his pace, and Happiness caught up to him. Thinking of his various protections and comforts towards her, Happiness looked back at Damian and the others, hesitated for a moment, and then put her slender hand into Bern's empty hand. Bern didn't stop his steps, but lowered his head and smiled gently at the small animal by his side. His big hand held hers even tighter than before.

"Happiness, has this guy been bullying you these past few days?" Damian looked at their intertwined hands, feeling quite uncomfortable, and asked in a rough voice.

Happiness turned her head and said seriously, "Damian, Bern has never bullied me. He risked his life to save me from the ancient species and was seriously injured."

"Oh... but any one of us would have risked our lives to protect you," Abyssyus took over the conversation, teasing Bern with a hint of sarcasm, "That being said, Bern, we have to thank you for saving our little Lei. The tiger tribe is truly the king of the forest. Even I wouldn't necessarily be able to keep up with the mutated ancient species."

Bern turned around, holding Happiness's hand, and said, "I was originally tracking the ancient species, and my initial goal was not Happiness. You don't need to be so polite. Between me and Happiness, there's no need for constant thanking. Our tiger tribe never bullies weak little animals."

As it turned out, although the tiger tribe had a huge body, Bern also possessed the agile thinking and sharp teeth of a feline. The leopard tribe, wolf tribe, and dog tribe were all weaker than the tiger tribe. Abyssyus's words were unexpectedly turned back by Bern so effortlessly!

The expression on Damian's face changed, and Eugene and Abyssyus didn't look particularly good-looking either. Alexander and the investigator were still behind, and Happiness keenly sensed that if they continued speaking, it seemed that they would fight. He quickly pulled Burn's hand and interrupted with a smile, "I'm so hungry. It's rare to be able to eat such fresh seafood. Let's all go in and eat together. Eugene, Vincent caught a lot of big fish. I really want to drink your fish head soup! By the way, you don't know Vincent yet. He's a very nice python. Hehe... You know I don't like the python clan, but Vincent is really nice!"

Happiness's smile was undoubtedly very lovely, even if she smiled awkwardly, the several beasts didn't say anything, looking at the only bright and beautiful girl in the world, they all felt an uncertain feeling about the future. Investigator Brooke was just the beginning of Happiness's exposure. After returning, Happiness would be sent to the high-level area of the primitive beast tribe in District 10. Would they be able to get her back smoothly according to the plan? With Brooke's watchful eyes, they couldn't even complete the long-awaited mating on this island...

"Don't think too much. Let's make Happiness happy for a day by accompanying her," Eugene said. "There's a solution to everything. Let Happiness eat first."

Seeing the atmosphere becoming lively again, Happiness breathed a sigh of relief and sat happily by the bonfire waiting for the meal. Eugene brought a lunchbox with many things she loved to eat. They were arranged in a fan shape in front of her, even the sticky rice cakes that were so troublesome to make, he made them. Burn put the shell on the fire and carefully watched the temperature.

Lionel, who was watching coldly, suddenly said, "Aren't you going to tell her the current situation? Can avoiding solve the problem?"

For a moment, except for Bern who was in the dark, the faces of the beasts were gloomy. Happiness asked in doubt, "What's wrong? What's the situation? Can't we go home after we finish this meal?"

"Happiness," Alexander sat down next to Happiness, putting her on his lap and hugging her, and struggled to say, "We can't go home anymore. After boarding the plane, you will be directly sent to District 10, and we will be separated from you for a while."

"District 10?" Happiness was stunned, "Isn't District 10 a developed city that you mentioned? Why do I have to be sent there? Why do you want to separate from me?"

Bern took off the sizzling and fragrant shell, and when he heard what Alexander said, he stopped cutting the meat and looked up at them.

"After you were taken away, we discussed it and unanimously agreed to inform the authorities of your existence," Alexander said in a low voice, "That person sitting over there is Brooke, the investigator sent by the federal government."

"What does that mean? What's wrong with telling the authorities? Why do I have to be separated from you?" Happiness said anxiously, "I have studied the information of the breeding camp. I can choose not to go to the breeding camp, and I already have a formal job. I am considered an integrated member of your society, a citizen protected by the law. Are you going to capture me for research?!" At this point, Happiness couldn't help but tear up. "Then I might as well stay in the ancient times and be studied there. After all, it's just dissection!"

"Miss Happiness, don't worry too much," Brooke smiled cautiously, neither making Happiness feel annoyed nor disgusted, "I am Brooke, the African lion. You can call me by my name directly."

Happiness's heart was sour and she nodded randomly. She broke free from Alexander's arms and sat aside, hugging her legs.

"I am Brooke, the African lion tribe," the investigator said calmly.

"I know, you've said it twice," Happiness said.

"Cough,Cough, can I call you Happiness?" Without waiting for Happiness to answer, Brooke said again, "Happiness, if you really are someone from a thousand years ago, then you should know that our world is no longer the same as before..."

"Alright, let me handle this." Lionel interrupted Brooke's flattery. It was the first time he sat in front of Happiness and looked into her eyes. "Happiness, it's not a thousand years ago anymore. On this planet, you are the only living humanoid woman. You spend a lot of time watching TV and going online every day. It's impossible for you not to understand the desires of most beasts towards humanoid women. Don't blame Alexander and the others. If they could protect you properly, they would want nothing more than to keep you hidden forever."

Inside the room, there was only the crackling sound of burning firewood. Happiness listened silently to Lionel's words. He was always the one sitting in the corner playing on his computer or phone, but this was the first time he spoke to her in such a long and serious manner.

"They are not afraid of death, they are afraid that if they die, no one will know about your whereabouts, no one will be able to save you. If it weren't for Bern following you this time, not seeking support from the country's forces, how could they save you? In other words, once you are exposed, will the beasts at the top of the animal kingdom even spare a glance at you? In what you wrote, there's an extraterrestrial visitor, and isn't he always yearning to truly integrate into this world, to receive dignity and legal protection? If you want all of that, you must have the approval of the most powerful beasts!"

"Lionel, that's enough," Abyssyus interjected. "It's our own race's innate weakness that's to blame, otherwise..."

"The head beast of the entire animal kingdom is Siberian tiger Fran," Bern said. "I've met him a few times. He values fairness, is honest, and never stoops to bullying the weak. But once he meets Happiness, I'm afraid she won't be able to escape the hurdle of mating."

As soon as she heard the word "mating", Happiness clenched her buttocks. She was about to speak when Bern continued, "But your considerations are reasonable. Happiness's existence should indeed have a clear path, allowing her to live with dignity."

"That's the point," Damian nodded, feeling slightly better about Bern. He continued, "Happiness, we can't guarantee what the future holds, but I can't stand by and watch you die. The Second District is a deserted place, completely defenseless against ancient species. If a full-scale war were to break out, we would all have to join the regular army, and..."

Happiness understood. She grabbed a piece of sliced clam meat prepared by Bern and put it in her mouth. Mechanically, she took a few bites. Suddenly, she stood up, mumbled about something getting into her eyes, and ran to the corner by the water basin, burying her face in her hands. A few uncontrollable tears immediately melted into the water.

Yes, Happiness felt very sad. Although she had been molested by Alexander and the others when she first arrived in this world, they hadn't really hurt her. Living together until now, she had developed deep affection for them. Even though they had been happy together, they were now forced to hand her over to the so-called higher-level head beast. Maybe as soon as she was handed over, this unfamiliar Fran would restrain her and force himself upon her. Although they hadn't said it, maybe she would never see them again after that... This situation was completely different from before, and Happiness knew that Alexander and the others must be even more saddened. Abyssyus even mentioned that their race was naturally weak. If leopards were considered weak, then what about the dogs? That's why Alexander, Ben, and Eliot were not even saying a word... Happiness was indeed not willing to end her life just because of the reasons of being forcefully taken by the beasts for rape or gang rape, but she was still a flesh and blood girl with normal thinking and emotions. Deep down in her heart, she didn't want to be separated from Alexander and the others.

In one sentence, everyone doesn't want this to happen, and they don't want to let happiness be sad, but they are also helpless. ᕦ༼༎ຶ_༎ຶ༽ᕗᕦ༼༎ຶ_༎ຶ༽ᕗᕦ༼༎ຶ_༎ຶ༽ᕗ
