Early in the morning, Aaron took Happiness to the small conference room next to the central control room. Maya announced the results of the experiment here. Happiness's cells have no effect on activating the dead brain. Her cells are always infected and devoured by the virus within seconds, which means that although she has traveled through time for thousands of years, her body is unable to resist the virus invasion, just like the humans from thousands of years ago.
She is useless to them. Happiness doesn't know whether this is good news or bad news. She doesn't believe that Maya and Noah will let her go just because she has no use. They are like ice blocks, just listening to them speak makes her feel cold. On the way back to the room from the conference room, Happiness suggested visiting the captured beast clan member. Aaron hesitated a bit, and Happiness said, "Uncle Ermao, please help me. I just want to see how my friend is doing, I won't do anything." She held Allen's finger and shook it.
"Okay, they don't have time to deal with that tiger for now. I'll take you there, you can just take a look, don't think you can escape or save him now." Aaron lifted Happiness and put her on his broad shoulder, took out an identification card from his neck, and walked towards the end of the corridor. After swiping open a door, Happiness clearly felt the temperature drop, but the temperature control system was still working, and it didn't feel as cold as their home in District 2. Aaron led Happiness through twists and turns and suddenly exclaimed, "Happiness, this tiger may already be dead. Let's go back. Look, the door is slightly open, someone has already gone in to deal with it."
From a distance, the door was indeed open, and it was pitch black inside, without a single trace of light. Happiness's heart sank, and she said, "Then, let's go back." She didn't even know the white tiger, she came to see him just to see if he had any plans to escape back. From what Uncle Ermao said, she could imagine how bloody the scene in the prison cell would be. She wasn't naive enough to try to save the white tiger, nor was she cruel enough to visit the scene of the beast clan being killed.
After returning to her room where she was being held, Happiness felt unusually heavy-hearted. She absentmindedly talked about things from a thousand years ago with Allen, but her sadness did not diminish in the slightest. Allen sighed and said, "Kid, your friend has been captured. Even if he doesn't die, he will still die. Don't be too sad."
Happiness probed, "Uncle Ermao, don't you hate these beast clan members?"
Aaron shook his head, "Why hate them? In my previous life, I had a big yellow dog. It was a good dog, very loyal. But then the government said to kill the dogs, and they killed my big yellow. If killing humans wasn't illegal, I would definitely avenge my big yellow."
"You silly child, I'm a robot. It doesn't matter where I live. At least here, there are some of my kind..." Aaron smiled and shook his head. Then he looked at the flashing light on his wrist and said to Happiness, "Kid, don't be sad. Ermao has something to do, but I'll come back to accompany you."
"Yes, Uncle Ermao, please come back early." Happiness said.
After Aaron left, Happiness turned on the TV absentmindedly. Staying in this eerie place even for a second was torture. Before she had watched for long, the door suddenly opened with a click. Happiness's hair stood on end. She was worried that it wasn't Uncle Ermao who came back, but Maya or some other weirdo who would dissect her.
Damn it! Whatever I'm afraid of will come. It's not Uncle Ermao after all! A man entered without saying a word, keeping his head down and wearing a hat. In his hand, he held a piece of arm, and at the other end of the arm, there was not a hand but a long metal spike. The edge of the spike gleamed with a cold light, sharp enough to cut through gold. Happiness stood up, holding the remote control tightly in her hand. Sweat dripped from her nose. She tried to calm herself and said, "Who are you? I just came back from Noah and Maya's place. They didn't mention that they needed me for an experiment today."
The man raised his head, and the remote control in Happiness's hand fell to the ground with a snap. She recognized those pair of blue eyes that looked like they came from a fairytale! It was the White Tiger! Happiness rushed towards him and held his hand. His hand was big and warm, with a body temperature that shouldn't exist in this base!
"How did you escape? I thought you were dead!" Happiness was ecstatic.
"I destroyed three surveillance systems. They will find out soon. I only have six minutes. Don't make a sound." Bern said.
The White Tiger shook off the sheets on the bed, while Happiness stood stupidly watching. Suddenly, she was wrapped and lifted by the sheets. Then he tied her to his chest with a strip of cloth. Happiness trembled with excitement, her hands and feet shaking, and she kept swallowing saliva. She never expected the opportunity to escape would come so soon. "Can you operate their aircraft? How can we make it in six minutes?!" she asked.
Bern reached out with his big hand and pressed Happiness's head against his collarbone. He held the spike and rushed out the door. They had to hurry now, no time to waste on small talk.
To reduce the obstacles to the White Tiger's actions, Happiness used her free hands to hold onto his neck, trying to stick her body as closely to his as possible. Their body temperatures connected, and Happiness didn't know what the White Tiger felt, but being in his embrace, feeling his hot skin, she didn't want to be separated from him even for a second. It was like a drowning person grabbing onto a life-saving straw!
The White Tiger was a strong leader in battle, and Bern could completely ignore the soft and plump pair of rabbit ears pressed against his chest, as well as the tempting scent of Happiness's animal heart. He focused all his attention on his surroundings. He didn't even look at Happiness Happiness was lying on his chest, watching as the rooms on both sides of the corridor quickly receded. When they passed the room Uncle Ermao had brought her to before, she saw the door wide open. A man was lying at the door, his right arm and below were empty, and half of his metal skull was lifted. Perhaps he had been struck, and his brain matter was scattered on the ground.
Whether it was intentional or not, Bern raised his left hand and considerately blocked Happiness's line of sight.
Happiness also recognized the next section of the route. She recognized the huge serrated metal circular door and the UFO placed on the large iron armor!
"Look over there!" Happiness pointed with her hand. She recognized the white round egg that Eugene often used. These ancient species seemed to be used for researching anything and everything, even the beast tribe had brought meaningless flying machines over.
"I can operate this." Bern supported Happiness's waist with his left hand and whispered, "I'll jump over there, don't make a sound." The distance from the round egg was at least 150 meters, and below was a bottomless black rock. Happiness had confidence in the White Tiger. After holding onto his neck, she closed her eyes. The two of them had been assisted by some kind of divine intervention all the way here, and surprisingly hadn't encountered a single ancient creature!
Bern squatted slightly, without exerting any force, he suddenly jumped to the side. A large machete fell beside him, and a large piece of rock broke off and fell into the abyss without making a sound, demonstrating how terrifying this abyss was.
"uncle Ermao!" Aaron withdrew his machete and was about to strike Bern's neck again when Happiness shouted, "uncle Ermao, don't hurt my friend, we are trying to escape!" No matter how strong an animal was, how long could it duel with a robot? Moreover, uncle Ermao had such a powerful build! If the White Tiger faced uncle Ermao, they probably wouldn't be able to leave and would both lose their lives!
Although Aaron didn't continue his attack, the momentum of his machete slowed. His aim was extremely accurate, and it was impossible to harm even a single hair on Happiness. But he didn't expect Bern, the White Tiger, to move as fast as a ghost. When the machete struck, it only hit Bern's afterimage. With a clang, Alan's neck was heavily struck. Under the heavy pressure, his head shifted to the lower half of his neck. Alan looked at the weapon that the White Tiger had used to strike him, without showing the slightest surprise. Whenever Solomon captured a member of the beast tribe, he would torture them to death, not even sparing young beasts. Now, dying at the hands of the beast tribe, it could be considered a fitting end.
Happiness anxiously said, "Tiger, don't kill uncle Ermao, he's a good person. He said he will let me go!"
Aaron pushed his head back into place and turned his neck twice, saying, "It's not that easy to kill me, Happiness. Did you and him conspire beforehand?"
Happiness quickly denied, "uncle Ermao, how is that possible? After I was captured, I was always kept separate from him. There was no way for us to conspire. uncle Ermao, come with us, leave Maya and them. I will earn money to support you. I really like you!"
"You silly child..." Aaron slowly lowered his raised machete, his electronic eyes flashing red. If it wasn't for him following them all the way, concealing their tracks, they would have been captured long ago... In Happiness's expectant gaze, Aaron finally laughed and said, "Happiness, now uncle is not afraid of pain or injury now. Even if I risk my life, what can I do? Just think, if my daughter traveled a thousand years to this ghost era, I would hope that there would be someone like me to save her. Saving you is saving my daughter. I can understand that!" After finishing his sentence, for some reason, Aaron spoke in the language of the beast tribe. Glancing at Happiness, he said again, "Great white tiger, you must treat my daughter well, or else..." This honest man couldn't come up with any threatening words, so he blurted out, "Or else, I would have died in vain!"
Bern retracted his spikes, and a hint of warmth flashed in his watery blue eyes. He nodded slightly and said, "If all the mutated evolutionary species were like you, there would be no need to continue the war."
Aaron turned around, waved his hand, and shouted, lifting his knife to face the several figures rushing towards them...
Bern effortlessly jumped over the 150-meter distance. Since he didn't have an identification card, he forcefully pried open the door on the outside of the spacecraft and jumped in with Happiness. As expected, there was no usable fuel inside the spacecraft, and even the electricity was insufficient. Bern calmly took out two ancient energy crystals and stuffed them into the energy synthesizer. The spacecraft immediately lit up with a bright light, and the abundant energy instantly activated the intelligent system. Without bothering to untie Happiness, Bern operated the manual control system, causing the round egg to take off, and then he squeezed a small capsule, throwing it out through the broken door.
After the white round egg soared into the sky, the valley, which was filled with ancient flying machines, exploded loudly. The resulting airflow made the round egg shake violently. Bern steadied himself and tightly hugged Happiness.
Happiness didn't care about the turbulence, her face was full of tears. She only remembered Uncle Ermao saying that she looked like his daughter, and his kind and generous figure as he left. She was engulfed in extreme sadness, unable to even feel happy about escaping the danger with white tiger.
The oxygen system had not been turned on yet, and a large amount of thin air rushed in through the broken space. Bern saw that Happiness's face was pale as paper, her breathing rapid, and she showed signs of oxygen deprivation. However, she was completely unaware and only kept crying. Bern could have immediately gotten up and fetched a spare oxygen mask for her, but he leaned against the door and didn't move. Instead, he suddenly lowered his head and pressed his lips against the little person in his arms, taking a deep breath of air for her.
It was just a simple form of artificial respiration, but when Happiness regained her senses and saw what Bern was doing, he didn't let go of her. He lightly licked her soft tongue, bringing a fragrant scent that caused his chest to rise and fall. The hands that held her back and waist tightened even more...
However, this sudden kiss didn't last long. Bern's ears twitched, and he heard the sound of something breaking through the air behind him. He released Happiness and looked out, only to see the flying mutant ancient species following behind! (˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )
