Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: The Dream Is Shattered

I had recently arrived in Zhonghai City and was fortunate that my grandfather had left me an address; I wouldn't have known where to find him otherwise. If I had lost the twin sisters-in-law, that would've been a huge loss. Even choosing one would be better than my current single status.

After closing the tattoo shop, I caught a ride with Xiaozai Xing to my grandfather's address.

It was only upon arrival that we realized it was a famous wealthy district in Zhonghai City, with rows of high-end villas standing in front of us, the neighborhood was incredibly luxurious.

My grandfather truly is my kin, not only had he paired me with twins for wives but also provided a wealthy father-in-law. My heart swelled with joy at the thought; I might not even have to work hard for my billion anymore.

However, it's not easy to enter this upscale community. The security guard said that only residents with a card could enter, or if a resident escorted us in. We weren't allowed to pass through.

Out of options, I had no choice but to ask the security guard if there was a resident by the name of Zhao Donglai, who had twin daughters.

One of the older security guards mentioned that Zhao Donglai used to live here but later moved away with his twin daughters and sold the villa.

Moved away? Damn it, how am I supposed to find him now? In the vast city of Zhonghai, there must be many with the name Zhao Donglai—it's like searching for a needle in a haystack, especially since I've never met him.

I hurriedly asked the security guard why he moved away and where to.

The guard said he wasn't sure where Zhao Donglai moved to but knew he left to avoid someone. Since Zhao Donglai had lived here for a long time, it must have been a nuisance for him to prefer selling the villa and relocating.

The security guard spoke at length, essentially saying nothing, which only made me sneeze repeatedly. Xiaozai Xing asked if I was coming down with a cold.

I shook my head, saying no, but rather that it felt like someone was cursing me!

With Zhao Donglai's departure, my chances of connecting with him shrank to almost zero in the vast crowd of people.

Thinking about it made me want to cry for my twin wives!

Twins are every man's dream, and I thought my unreachable dream was about to come true, only to be harshly slapped in the face.

I don't want to wake from this dream, but I have to—the dream has been shattered!

I ripped up the address and dejectedly told Xiaozai Xing we should go home, but right at that moment, a woman called out to Xiaozai Xing.

I recognized this woman: Hu Bingbing, a top-tier celebrity, a leading lady time and again in movies and TV shows, all smash hits. Sometimes her presence alone could carry a film.

Hu Bingbing was also very beautiful, different from many internet celebrity faces; her beauty had quality and charm.

I couldn't quite understand why someone of her stature would call out to Xiaozai Xing.

Just as a luxury car tried to enter the community, suddenly Hu Bingbing popped her head out of the car window and called out to Xiaozai Xing.

He was stunned for a moment but then responded—apparently, they knew each other!

Hu Bingbing waved at us to come over, and Xiaozai Xing didn't hesitate; at the call of a beautiful woman, his short legs hopped into the car, and I reluctantly followed.

It was a Maserati, my first time in one, giving rise to an immense sense of satisfaction.

Besides Hu Bingbing, there was also an assistant in the car, a stunning beauty with an exquisite figure.

Once we got in the car, the driver drove into the community, and inside Hu Bingbing asked Xiaozai Xing about Mr. Tang, mentioning they'd lost contact with him over the years and that the tattoo shop had closed.

Clearly, she was asking about my grandfather. Could it be that this top celebrity also wanted to get an Underworld Tattoo?

At this moment, Xiaozai Xing pointed to me and told her, "Miss Hu, this is Mr. Tang's grandson, Tang Hao. If you want an Underworld Tattoo, you can come to him."

"Oh, so young?" Hu Bingbing looked at me with a frown, seemingly not very trusting.

I couldn't blame her, as the saying goes, 'the young may be unreliable'. My grandfather always said, especially when it came to matters of yin tattoos, the older, the more dependable!

Of course, I've been trained in the family trade of tattooing, and my skills are solid, I certainly didn't want to be underestimated.

"Miss Hu, rest assured, my tattoo results will definitely not be inferior to my grandfather's. Everything he could do, I can do."

That was a bit of an exaggeration, but close enough – my grandfather had taught me all his tattoo techniques.

"Really? Then Bingbing will have to trouble Mr. Tang for an Underworld Tattoo!"

With that said, Hu Bingbing led us to a two-story villa, the decor of which could only be described as luxurious and extravagant.

After hosting us for a while, Hu Bingbing got straight to the point – the reason why she sought the Underworld Tattoo.

It turned out that she had a boyfriend at the start of her fame and even got pregnant.

But at that time, she couldn't have the child nor let her fans know she had a boyfriend, as that would've been the end of her career.

Later, she aborted the child without her boyfriend knowing, which led to a huge argument and eventually a breakup.

It seemed like no big deal at first; Hu Bingbing's career was thriving, and she could find someone better after ending a relationship. But since the abortion, she started having nightmares every night, dreaming of a bloodied fetus seeking her out.

The fetus would climb from her feet to her back and kept calling her 'mommy'. When Hu Bingbing tried to pull it off, she ended up twisting its head off.

The terrifying head still spoke up, asking, "Mommy, do you want to kill me again?"

Hu Bingbing was so scared that she woke up. The nightmare continued for a long time, featuring the blood-covered fetus which was not yet fully formed. Its body was wrinkled, as though soaked in blood for too long, twisting unnaturally with every movement – a horrifying sight.

Initially, it was just dreams, but later, she started seeing the fetus in reality.

Sometimes under the bed, sometimes in the closet, sometimes in the dark corners of the room, sometimes in the fridge – bloody and omnipresent.

At night, as soon as the lights went out, it would crawl out and call 'mommy', so Hu Bingbing never dared sleep in the dark or stay alone in a room, always accompanied by her assistant.

She initially thought it was a mental issue, but after seeing a doctor, there was nothing wrong with her. She then sought monks to chant scriptures to deliver the aborted fetus' soul, and hired a Taoist priest to exorcise the bloody fetus to no avail. She seriously doubted the capabilities of the priest she hired, suspecting him to be a charlatan with no real abilities.

That's when she remembered the Underworld Tattoo and my grandfather.

In fact, Hu Bingbing knew about the Underworld Tattoo for a long time. She had been to the tattoo shop and met my grandfather before she became famous, back when she was just an artist being groomed by her agency, accompanying her boss.

The magic of the Underworld Tattoo that my grandfather inked left an unforgettable impression on her.
