That was a strange red pouch.

The pouch was covered with dense, incomprehensible runes.

Inside, it was filled with silver—genuine silver coins. The opening of the pouch wasn't tied tightly, leaving the silver exposed. Anyone passing by could immediately tell it was a bag full of money.

It was a big-headed ghost, kneeling in the dark, murmuring some kind of incantation that was clearly related to the red pouch.

Qin Lily then recalled a type of ghost—those who died prematurely, unwilling to accept their fate, and sought a sliver of life in the mortal world.

They would find a way to gather a sum of money, place it on the roadside, and put it in a red pouch.

This was commonly known as—**life-buying money.**

Anyone who took the money was essentially agreeing to sell their life to the ghost.
