Chapter 107 - A traitor

"You are staying here. Keep in mind two things," Sullivan said, his voice firm, eyes narrowing as he unsheathed the dagger for emphasis. "One, don't bring trouble for me. Two, do not leave this room. If you do, there will be consequences."

Dahlia sat on the edge of the mattress, watching him intently. "Won't I be bored staying here the entire day?" she asked, tilting her head slightly, a hint of defiance in her voice.

Sullivan sheathed the dagger with a click. "You won't," he said, his tone softening just a bit. "Because I'll return soon."

"Why don't you take me with you?" she suggested, sitting up straighter, her eyes following his every movement.

"I would have," he began, pausing as he met her gaze, "but the place I'm going isn't safe for you. That's why I need you to stay here. Be a good wife and listen to your husband." His voice carried an underlying command, though it was layered with concern.
