Chapter 49 - The Aftermath

The aftermath of the duel between the King of Curses and the God of Sorcerers was a revelation to the world. Yuta Okkotsu had released the majority of his cursed spirits by the end of the titanic fight in an attempt to obscure his location. Millions of cursed spirits were unleashed, causing quite a commotion in the city of Tokyo, specifically in the Shibuya and Shinjuku wards. However, with the majority of the Jujutsu Sorcerers and SBI personnel present, it became an extermination mission. Senju Hiroshi obliterated all the cursed spirits in Shibuya, leaving most of the sorcerers and SBI personnel, including Suguru Geto, to clear out the Shinjuku ward. The damage was contained within the two wards, with Shibuya transformed into a massive forest instead of an urban landscape, courtesy of Senju Hiroshi. Overall, it was a major incident. The first and foremost revelation was the rank of special grade cursed spirits and the special grade jujutsu sorcerers. The term "curse users" was further proliferated, referring to rogue sorcerers not affiliated with Jujutsu High and the SBI. In the original timeline, the Shibuya Incident would have destroyed all 23 wards of Tokyo, but with the butterfly effect of Senju Hiroshi, everything changed.

At Senju Palace, a meeting was held to discuss the future of Japan and the Jujutsu Society as a whole.

"Patriarch, the damages caused by your battle against the King of Curses have led to the outside world discovering the hidden danger that is the special grades," Senju Aoi, the Prime Minister, reported.

Hiroshi looked at the people in the room, his clansmen. "Was there not a curtain we replaced the four Kenjaku set up?" Hiroshi asked.

"The final blast destroyed the curtain covering Shibuya, Patriarch," Senju Mizuki said.

"Damn... Alright, just release the rest of the grades to the public and tell them that this is the first mass curse outbreak," Hiroshi said.

"Regarding the situation of the non-sorcerers, Patriarch, there has been an influx of foreign spies into the country, specifically from the U.S., Russia, and China. We have tracked almost 400+ spies looking into the nuclear-esque explosion that happened in Shibuya," Senju Aoi said. As the Prime Minister, he is privy to these matters, and it is his duty to alert the Patriarch regarding the movements of the mundane world.

"Just give those three countries the same decoy location and materials regarding cursed energy, and let the tigers fight. As long as it does not erupt into a situation disadvantageous to the country, you can keep the status quo. Our priority now is to find Kenjaku. I cannot be at peace until he is six feet under," Hiroshi said.

A clan elder arrived late, clearly carrying urgent news. He was sweating bullets just from traveling. "Patriarch, there has been news regarding the mysterious phenomena of comatose non-sorcerers. They have begun to awaken. Tsumiki Fushiguro?" Hiroshi asked. Although he was not close to Megumi's step-sister, she was left in the palace for the best medical treatment the Senju Clan and, by extension, the world had to offer after she became comatose.

"Ms. Fushiguro has awakened, but like the rest of the patients, she shows signs of language slang from different eras, archaisms, chronolects. Although Ms. Fushiguro's speech patterns are somewhat hidden, they still indicate that something happened to their memories. Our experts discovered that Ms. Fushiguro's chronolects and archaisms come from the Heian Era. Some comatose personnel even attacked our sorcerers upon awakening, causing injuries, but the rampaging curse users were immediately subdued," the elder reported.

Hiroshi thought for a moment and then dialed his phone. The number he dialed was Gojo Satoru's.

"This is Satoru," the answer came.

"Satoru, come to the Senju Palace ASAP. There is a peculiar event that only you can see, specifically with your Six Eyes," Hiroshi said.

"Open your clan barriers. I don't want to crash into them," Satoru said.

"Sure," Hiroshi replied as he looked at one of the elders, who immediately went into action and left the meeting room.

"Bye-bye, see you in a minute," Satoru said as he ended the call. The next person Hiroshi dialed was Suguru.

"This is Geto," Suguru answered.

"Suguru, come to the palace ASAP," Hiroshi said.

"Barriers, please," Suguru said.

"Don't worry, it's done," Hiroshi replied.

"I'll be there in a few. See you," Suguru said as he ended the call.

Hiroshi turned back to the room. "For the rest of you, I believe that our nation, Japan, will become the center point of a catastrophe in the future. To protect our assets and our nation, gentlemen, I want preparations made for that very purpose. I'm talking about the possibility of Japan ceasing to exist as a nation. It's that type of national emergency! Dismissed!"

"Yes, Patriarch!" the assembly responded in unison.

Meanwhile, in the Zenin Clan, Naobito Zenin lay bedridden due to his severe injuries from the battle against Dagon and the clearing of the Shinjuku ward. The Zenin Clan received news that Naobito Zenin was at death's door.

As Naoya Zenin walked towards a room where his uncles were waiting, he was accompanied by servants. "Those two, Maki and Mai, do they not have plans on returning to the clan?" Naoya asked with a sneer.

"Maki Zenin is currently spending time in Shinjuku. The extermination mission is still ongoing. Mai Zenin is with the Senju clan, together with the former member Senju Mizuki, formerly known as Mizuki Zenin," one of the servants, likely a close aide, replied.

"Both sisters don't know how to support a man. Any woman who can't walk three steps behind a man should get stabbed in the back and die. That turncoat too," Naoya said as he walked.

"Is my father dead?" Naoya asked as he entered the room.

"You're late," Jinichi Zenin said, staring at Naoya.

"Right now, your father is at death's door," Ogi added.

"Sorry," Naoya said in a playful voice.

"It does not matter if I come or not because once I kill Megumi, I will be the next head of the Zenin Clan," Naoya declared.

Naoya knew that his older brothers were losers and that his uncle Ogi Zenin amounted to nothing despite being his father's brother.

"Your face is no good. Too bad you didn't switch places with Toji," Naoya said in response to Jinichi, prompting Jinichi to attack. Naoya evaded easily.

"Daddy's at death's door. Why don't we all get along?" Naoya smirked as Ogi's katana was on his neck.

The door opened, revealing Megumi.

Megumi walked in, seeing the trio blocking his way to the medical area of the clan. "Move aside if you want to save the clan head," Megumi said, facing the trio led by Naoya, who was smirking.

"Make us, so-called heir," Naoya said. Within seconds, Mahoraga's blade was at his neck. Simultaneously, on Ogi's neck were the claws of the Were Tiger, and on Jinichi, the Divine Dogs Totality. "Move aside, or do you want a replay of the first time we fought?" Megumi glared at Naoya.

Megumi's Binding Vow allowed him to summon Mahoraga almost instantly, a formidable feat that struck fear into Naoya and the others present. The Binding Vow came with a trade-off: Megumi cannot use his reverse cursed technique for the duration of the summoning. While this limitation could hinder him in extended battles, in this particular situation, Megumi faced no immediate threat that required his reverse cursed technique, the binding vow was both a test and a temporary tool this was the lesson Hiroshi is teaching him today.

This prompted the three of them to freeze in place, lest they die. They saw that Megumi was serious and knew that if Megumi killed them, the Zenin Clan would immediately fall to the Senju Clan's grasp via Megumi. This was just a simple intimidation technique, as Megumi was not often seen in the Zenin clan, spending most of his time with the Senju clan and Jujutsu High. The last time the clan saw him was during his duel with Naoya, which meant Megumi did not have any real power in the clan for now. However, everyone knew that Megumi possessed the Ten Shadows Technique. The hostility was mainly due to his affiliation with his mentors: one from the Gojo clan, another from the Senju Clan, and the last one being the strongest non-clan affiliated sorcerer who heavily leaned towards both rival clans.

"No chant?" Naoya thought as he gazed at the strongest shikigami, Mahoraga. Naoya knew that Megumi had to chant to summon Mahoraga, as he heard Megumi say it before they fought.

As Megumi entered the room, he saw Naobito on oxygen supply, missing his left arm and bearing a variety of injuries.

Naobito was being assisted by the clan's doctors. As Megumi approached the unconscious Naobito, he fed him a Senzu bean, the same type that Hiroshi had created to heal sorcerers, albeit a counterfeit one. "You cannot die yet. My mentors say I am not ready to lead a clan," Megumi muttered.

Seeing that Naobito's missing arm had been restored and every injury healed, Megumi spoke to the medical personnel in the room, "The old man just needs to rest and restore his cursed energy." He then left the room.

Senju Palace

Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto arrived at the Senju Palace, greeted warmly by Hiroshi who was waiting for them at the entrance.

"Yo, Hiroshi!" Satoru greeted enthusiastically as he arrived first.

Suguru descended from a pelican cursed spirit, asking, "Was I late?" as he touched down.

"No, you're right on time," Hiroshi reassured Suguru, greeting both his best friends warmly.

"So, what's the problem here?" Satoru inquired as they followed Hiroshi towards the medical ward.

"Here's the thing," Hiroshi began explaining. "There's been an anomaly lately with the comatose patients. They've started to awaken and some have even attacked our sorcerers. Keep in mind, these were non-sorcerers before falling into a coma. I have a strong suspicion that this is Kenjaku's doing or at least part of his plan—it bears his fingerprints all over."

"So you're saying these patients are exhibiting unusual behavior? Like using archaisms and chronolects?" Suguru asked, intrigued.

"More than that," Hiroshi confirmed. "They're using phrases from different historical periods—Heian Era, Ashikaga Era, Tokugawa Period. Tsumiki, for instance, referred to kimonos as 直衣 (naoshi) and the sky as ひさかたの (hisakatano) instead of sora."

"That's quite unusual," Suguru remarked thoughtfully. "Could they be souls from those eras? The phrases they use certainly suggest it."

"It's possible," Hiroshi agreed. "According to the data from my experts, the majority seem to be from the Heian Era... If that's the case, we might be dealing with 'boomers' in the literal sense!" Hiroshi joked lightly.

"Haha, I'll beat their old asses," Satoru chimed in playfully.

"But seriously, old era sorcerers against us? They wouldn't stand a chance," Suguru stated confidently.

"Exactly. Satoru, I called you here because your Six Eyes can identify souls, similar to how you distinguished Sukuna from Yuji," Hiroshi explained as they approached the medical ward.

"Sure," Satoru agreed readily.

The moment the trio entered the room, Satoru Gojo removed his glasses to get a closer look. Although he could see perfectly well through them, out of respect for Hiroshi, he examined the situation seriously. As Satoru's gaze fell upon Tsumiki, who was sitting on the bed watching the clear blue sky outside, Yorozu, inside Tsumiki's body, felt his presence. Sensing danger, she attempted to activate her cursed technique.

"Looks like we have a parasite," Satoru remarked playfully.

Instantly, the wooden walls surrounding Tsumiki reacted, restraining Yorozu. "Shinboku no Jumon: Stocks," Hiroshi acted swiftly, nullifying Yorozu's cursed energy and firmly restraining her.

"Tell me more, Satoru. What can you see?" Hiroshi inquired, his focus unwavering on Yorozu.

"There are two souls inside her right now. The dominant one is the sorcerer, and the heavily suppressed one, presumably Tsumiki," Satoru explained.

"Suguru, can you use Mahito to separate their souls?" Hiroshi requested.

"Let me try," Suguru responded as he summoned Mahito.

Mahito landed in front of Tsumiki and placed his hand on her, initiating his idle transfiguration technique.

Meanwhile, in the innate domain, Mahito and Yorozu faced off in a stalemate. "Who are you, cursed spirit?" Yorozu demanded, defending her soul from Mahito's invasive touch.

"Come on, the boss just needs to separate you two. It won't hurt," Mahito taunted. Not all sorcerers from the Heian Era were as formidable as the King of Curses; not everyone could resist Mahito's attempts to manipulate their souls whilst defending their own, resulting in a prolonged stalemate.

"This stalemate could go on indefinitely. She's a tough one," Suguru remarked.

Satoru continued to observe Tsumiki closely. "I'm out of ideas, really. Perhaps Kenjaku has a plan. If we can capture that runaway brain..." Satoru mused aloud.

"Then we just have to keep her restrained until that happens," Hiroshi declared as he entered Sage Mode. "Sage Art: Maximum Technique - Gate of the Great God."

Summoning four miniature torii gates, Hiroshi sealed Yorozu's body within them to prevent her from escaping.

Yorozu protested vehemently, but Hiroshi's orders were final.

"Give her meals three times a day. The restraints will extend and retract, but they're limited to this room," Hiroshi instructed the guard sorcerers and medical staff.

"Yes, Patriarch!" they acknowledged in unison.

A/N: Are you the strongest because I am you? Or are you me because nah i'd win?
