Chapter 31 - Minoan ruins

The group of Spartans soldier made their way through the collapsed, and dusty halls of the building.

Syeinos was looking trough the materials used for the curtains and floors.

If my intuition is right this place should be a old royal palace.

"Men gather up"

"It looks like this is the palace from this civilization"

"They should be the ones that created the labyrinth underneath our feet."

"And we will be looking for their treasure vault."

"Ahoo ahoo ahoo" the men awnserd their admiral.

ROAR!!! a loud call was made making even the ground tremble.

"Shut up" syeinos wisperd

Everybody stayed quiet hoping whatever made that sound would not come to them.

After waiting 6 minutes in silence they began to move trough the palace again, some parts were collapsed so they had to search for different routes.

After a long search they found giant scorched gate.

It was the most likely route into the throne room and the treasury.

But the gate appeared to be barricaded, so the search party went around looking for a way in.

And they found it trough a crack in the wall just big enough for a men to squize trough.

So one by one they went trough.

But once inside there was a somber silence.

"What could have driven them to be this desperate."

Back in Sparta Leonidas was sitting on his throne veins bulging on his forehead.

He just received the dove Deimos sent back with the message from the United city states against Sparta.

"They grew a pair of balls in our absence it seems" he mutterd while crumpling the letter.

Ensemble my generals we are going to strike first in this war.

2 hours later the throne room is filled.

Cleomenes had come to this meeting too since this concerned the future of Sparta.

Honourable generals of Sparta today we are here to announce that the preparations are ready and we are going to take over all of Greece.

But before we even made a move against our enemies they dared to sent us this.

Leonidas handed the letter to a servant who read it aloud to the generals.

They were to hand over Deimos or face the combined might of Thebes Athens Delphi and Corinth.

The generals started laughing.

Even Leonidas had to keep in a small smile.

Did they truely think this would scare Sparta.

If it is war they desire it is war they would get.

And the first strike would be on the Athenian fleet.

They had been working on this for years and had all plans ready to cripple all city states in Greece.

And Athens would be the first of many.

"Ready my horse we will make a move on Athens."

"And sent news to our spies in the different city states."

"Yes your majesty."

"What is the message."

"Cripple their fleets."

"Burn their boats with oil"

"And burn down the grain storages."

"Both within their city's and at the farms."

"Right away sir."

"Alright let's go, ready the army we move in two days."

Back in the Minoan throne room syeinos and his men found thousands of skeletal remains.

They were of giant stature, being at least 4 meters tall.

And some of the bigger ones got up to 7 meters.

There bones had turned brittle.

And their flesh had all but rotten away.

It was a eerie sight.

You could even find the remains of children and baby's.

They began exploring even with all this dread and horror surrounding them.

Syeinos was analysing why they had died, they couldn't just die from nothing.

But the more he searched the weirder it got.

No blind trauma on the bones and no cuts or bite marks.

"Looks like they either died of starvation or sickness."

But the fact that they were all staying together looking for safety, would suggest that it was starvation.

And that this fate was better than facing whatever was outside.

Thinking of this syeinos got a bad feeling.

They just heard a giant roar, and it could very possibly be the monster that drove them to this.

And if not the beast itself maybe a descendant of it.

Just as syeinos was about to give up the search and order his men to retreat, one of the soldier found something.

"Admiral come quick I found something."
