Chapter 4 - The Cursed Forest. (3)

- (Is this as far as I get...? Is it really the end?) A feeling of defeat and helplessness began to spread through his mind, doubtful of how to overcome the current situation.

- (I'm sure there must be some way...) Even if it seemed that Kael would lose consciousness at any moment, he began to analyze his situation, trying to find some way to overcome it;

- (I am surrounded by 3 Undead Beasts: One in front and the other two on the sides, each 4-5 meters away. I could turn around and run away... no, even if I was in perfect condition, they would catch me. In my current state they would simply devour me before even taking 3 steps.)

- "Damn..." With every passing second, it was becoming more and more difficult for him to stay awake and think clearly. The pain in his left arm tormented him, while the disgusting smell of the Beasts penetrated his nostrils, causing him to retch.

Surprised because by now some of the Beasts should have already attacked, he slowly looked up…

Black.

As if the world had been dyed from nothing itself, both the gloomy forest and the Beasts disappeared, leaving nothing but emptiness and darkness in what seemed to be an absolute night.

- (I lost consciousness...?) Kael couldn't think of any other motives, and if it were true, the Beasts would already be devouring him right now. He couldn't help but think that if he did things differently, maybe this wouldn't be happening.

If only he hadn't been thrown into the Cursed Forest.

If only the "Patriarch" had not banished him from the family.

If only his mother had stood up for him.

Kael felt as if something incredibly heavy was crushing his heart and thousands of negative thoughts began to arise from it.

- (If they hadn't abandoned me to my fate... If someone defended me at that moment...) "I wouldn't be going through all this" - Before he let those words escape, he felt a shiver all over his body and an indescribable fear consumed him.

Immediately after that, a voice, imposing and terrifying spoke to him;

- [That's right.]

-"!?!?"Again, Kael felt a deep fear, but not because of the voice, but because of the power and authority that the words of it carried.

- [You are right young man, it is the fault of those who despised you that you are in this situation, suffering.]

-"…"

- [Tell me, young man. Do you want the power to defend yourself? The power to survive this situation and prove that you are not "trash"?]

- "I don't know..." Those words seemed like those of the devil himself whispering in his ear so that he would fall into temptation.

- [don't worry, young man. I don't plan to hurt you, but I do have a small favor to ask of you in exchange for my help.]

- "Favor...? What is it about?"He asked cautiously.

- [i need to regain my strength and you are my only way to do it.]

- "To regain your strength? And how am I supposed to do that...?"

- [it's still too early for you to know, but trust me, it's not like you have many options left.]

-"..." Those words were like being offered water in the middle of the desert; really tempting. By now, Kael was ready for anything, even if it meant selling his soul to the devil, he didn't want to die in a place like this; not before knowing who he really is.

- "...I accept your deal. Tell me what I have to do."

- [very well. Just this once, I'll borrow your body.]

After saying those words, a kind of black smoke began to come out of Kael's wrist and began to spread slowly taking shape. The "black world" took shape, replacing Kael's hand, making the darkness disappear.

Finally, both the forest and the Beasts were visible again, as well as Kael's figure, standing in front of the Beasts.

- "Ha ha ha! It's been so long since I've had a body!"
