In One Piece As a Pirate
Chapter 34
"Rood, I found three people who want to be pirates and have the talent to repair muskets. They are good at it, and they also have their own unique muskets," Sophie suddenly came and told him.
"Okay. Where are they right now? Let's go and see if they are interested in joining our pirate crew. By the way, how do you know that they want to be pirates?" Rood agreed and asked Sophie.
"I got the news about their behavior since childhood. They don't like following rules. One of them is a good mechanic. She worked in a weapon factory," Sophie said while looking at the paper in her hand.
"Oh! Tell K. Kish the location. First, we will invite our new partner. Then we will leave for the ORGE (weapon refiner)," Rood thought about the disruption of his plan.
But it's okay. Plans always disrupted. I shouldn't make long-term plans in the future.
Rood went to his room and thought about his recent journey. He then took out his cutlass, held it tightly in his hand, and tried to wrap it with Armament Haki.
With a "srink, srink" sound, something tried to emerge from the handle of the cutlass but vanished again.
'Why does it feel like this?' Rood looked at the cutlass and tried again. But the same thing happened. Rood took a closer look and tried once more. This time, he saw what was happening with his cutlass.
His Armament Haki was being absorbed by the cutlass. Upon closer inspection, Rood realized that the cutlass had become sharper and harder than before.
'With this demon knife, I may not be able to reach that level of Armament Haki anytime soon.
How about I practice Observation Haki? If I dedicate the rest of my time to Observation, I may become an expert.'
With that thought, Rood went to Yoku for Observation Haki practice.
"Yoku, I need you to help me with my Observation Haki," Rood said.
"Okay! Are you going to practice all day long?" Yoku asked.
"Nope. I have sword training with little kids. So, when it's time, I'll go there. For now, let's practice in my cabin," Rood said while looking at Dr. G, who was practicing with two daggers.
'Hey, this gorilla can learn everything,' Rood thought after seeing Dr. G.
He went into the cabin with Yoku, closed his eyes, and Yoku took the right posture before attacking with a hammer.
Rood could feel that the attack was coming from the right and would hit his shoulder. Without hesitation, Rood bent down and dodged the attack. But he had no time to rest as the hammer paused above his head.
Yoku changed the direction and aimed at Rood's head. But Rood dodged it again.
To make the practice more challenging, Yoku secretly switched weapons. This time, he held a long stick and swung it toward where Rood was standing.
Rood felt that the attack was coming from the left, so he decided to take a step back. The moment he stepped back, the stick struck his head from the left side.
With a loud bang, the stick broke. Rood was about to open his eyes to see what had happened when Yoku stopped him.
"Don't open your eyes. You don't need to see what's happening outside. You have to figure out what kind of weapon the attacker is using," Yoku instructed.
Rood immediately closed his eyes again after Yoku's suggestion.
'It was a stick. But how do I figure out where to dodge if I don't know the weapon's shape? This is very troublesome. But I have a good partner,' Rood thought while preparing for the next exercise.
Again, Rood dodged the attack, but this time, he came very close to Yoku. Yoku kicked from the side, so Rood had no time to hesitate and dodged again.
The same thing happened repeatedly. Twenty days passed this way.
One morning, most of Rood's pirate crew was swimming in the sea near the ship. But Rood was doing something different. He was fighting Duke, while Mokume was sparring with K. Kish.
Others were just observing. When Rood and Duke's fight ended, Rood thought about something he had seen on Torino Island.
At that time, he had seen many pictures, and one of them depicted a fight in the water. This inspired Rood to train in underwater combat.
"Duke! Let's fight in the water. The pressure is greater there than above the surface. I think it will improve our stamina. How about this? You fight with Mokume. With his blunt weapon, it will help strengthen your skin," Rood said to Duke, who was lying on a chair beside him.
"Rood, we are stronger now. Let's find that King Pirate and show our strength. If we don't go to the Grand Line, why don't we make those Grand Line pirates come to our South Blue? How? Do you like this plan?" Duke proposed.
"Good idea. But how do we lure those pirates? Send some fake treasure maps? Spread rumors that Rood Pirates are looking down on them?" Rood looked at Duke and considered some plans for Duke's idea.
"Will they really fall for it?" Duke asked.
"Who knows? To complete this plan, Sophie needs to think about it carefully. Only she can make it work. But there is another thing we can do," Rood said.
"Oh? Do you have another plan?" Duke asked, catching Rood's last words.
"We have our crocodile, which can help us reach the Grand Line. So, why don't we find a pirate base camp and fight them on their own turf? This way, the navy won't know where we will appear or which pirates we will attack. I think it's a good plan. What do you think?" Rood suggested.
"Well! It's a good plan. Okay, let's discuss it with everyone. They may find some flaws in our plan, which will help us perfect it," Duke agreed.
That night, after holding a meeting, all the crew members agreed to fight pirates in the Grand Line. But before that, they needed to complete their previous plans, such as recruiting a gun maker and making weapons from big blue stones.
Five days later...
"Rood! We are here. Vixi Village, quite a name, right?" K. Kish asked Rood with a smile.
This island was famous for its brothel business. That was also the reason for the village's chaotic nature. Navy officers and pirates blended here like wine and water.
That night, a large ship anchored on the other side of the island. Rood's pirates disembarked. The first thing they did was head straight to the pub for information.
This time, everyone was present and spread across the village. Their target: two girls and one boy. The two girls were twins, but one had become slightly overweight due to her eating habits. Their names were Right and Left, given by the villagers because they used different dominant hands.
As for the boy, he was their elder brother, a Devil Fruit user with the ability to pull objects. No matter what it was, he could pull it—but only if he touched it and held it in a pulling position. His name: Abu.
The crew scattered throughout the village to locate them, but it took a long time. Rood's pirates remained on the island for three days but couldn't find them. Many significant events took place, including battles with small pirate groups and clashes with navy spies.
After three days, a merchant ship arrived with lots of goods and some passengers. Among them were the three siblings.
This time, they went out to find information about a pirate group that used to live in this village. These pirates were very vicious, having killed most of the residents. Their parents were among the deceased.
But today, before they could reach their home—or what could be called a weapon shop—they were stopped by some pirates. Although they didn't know them, the pirates' oil-painted skin, weapon-holding style, and clothing made it clear who they were.
"What do you want? We have all kinds of guns and swords," the eldest brother, Abu, asked the pirates without fear.
"He he he he he. Get in the shop. You will understand," the pirate standing in front replied.
Abu didn't think much and simply walked into the shop. The first thing he saw was a group of people sitting there, dozing off.
"What are you people doing in my shop?" Abu asked in a serious tone.
"We are pirates! What do you think we are doing here?" Duke replied to Abu's question.
While speaking, Duke looked at the girl beside Abu. Both girls had expressions like puppets without any emotion—one was fat, the other skinny.
"Then why are you waiting for me here? Take everything and leave," Abu ordered them.
"We are pirates. We aren't thieves who like sneaking around and stealing goods. Since you're here, we would rather kill first and rob your store. What do you think?" This time, it was Zamp who replied. With a scar on his face, his answer sounded especially menacing—a naked threat.
