Voldemort hadn't yet done anything, however. Instead, he was gloating over the wand he picked from Dumbledore's dead body. His face was destroyed, and his inhuman smile was terrifying.
"Hehehehe! Elder Wand is mine at last!" Voldemort declared and looked at Harry. "Surrender to me, and I shall be benevolent."
Clank!
In an instant, a few Aurors surrendered. It was insane how quick they were to change sides. But Moody wondered if they were ever on their side at all.
"Potter, tell your friends to surrender if they want to live." Voldemort walked into the battlefield openly, surrounded by five masked men.
"Never!" Hermione retorted back.
Voldemort sneered. "Ah, the muggle-born. While others may have a bright future, yours belongs in servitude."
"Hehe, my Lord, can I keep her?" Bellatrix blurted. "She'll be exciting to play with."
"You may," Voldemort replied and looked around. "Where is the blood traitor Weasley? That boy has earned nothing but death. The Weasleys shall no longer be a part of… Ah, I have three of them right here."
"No!" Harry jumped to hide Ginny behind him. "What do you want, Voldemort?"
"Haha, nothing. For I have already earned what I desired." Voldemort proudly looked at Dumbledore's dead body. "There is no one who can stop me now."
Boom!
The earth shook.
Boom!
The entire chamber shook.
Boom!
All heads turned towards the staircase seats at the edge of the room.
Boom!
The explosion became visible this time and the entire part of the staircase blasted open like a piece of foam. The fire raged from behind, and a figure came out walking through it. Panting, his coat utterly drenched in blood. His wand was raised towards the center while a smile formed on his lips.
"Did you miss me?"
"Ron!" Harry shouted.
Ron didn't respond, however, and smirked at the dead body of Dumbledore. "You can get up now, Professor. Thank you for the help."
"Wonderful, my boy." Dumbledore's usual, old voice resonated in all ears. The white-clothed wizard stood up and took out a wand from under his sleeves. The real Elder Wand. "You made it on time."
"You guided me well." Ron thanked him more and glared at Amelia. "Sadly, I had to apparate to get out, and I splinched a little. But how are there six of him here?"
"Horcruxes!" Dumbledore revealed to all. "He sought immortality through them, yes. But I fear he has done more—he has given each fragment of his soul its own form, its own body. Now, all those bodies contain devastating magic."
Fuck! Ron cursed under his breath.
"So we gotta kill him six times now?" He tiredly asked and started to walk. "Why the wait then?"
Crack!
Ron took out a glass vial from his pocket and slammed it on the ground. An explosion of mist formed all around him, and it continued to cover a few Death Eaters nearby. Thankfully, he had already taught the spell to see through it to Harry and the others.
"Avada Kedavra!" Ron roared, going for the kill right away. "Crucio!"
He held no shame in using the unforgivable curses and killed any Death Eater that was close to him. He lunged around like a wild beast, using every single part of his body thoroughly, a fighting style that none there were aware of or experienced with.
Woosh!
Ron kept throwing vials upon vials of different effects. Sometimes poison, and at times simple mist. Sometimes the vials contained potion to slow down the body. And a few other times they just made one very itchy.
BOOM!
However, he also had a few that blasted things into pieces.
Single-handedly, Ron shifted the pace of the battle. He killed, ruined, and destroyed Death Eaters around him like a giant playing among children. Dead bodies flew around, blood splattered, and vile gore painted the stone floor red.
"Weasley!" Voldemort roared and aimed towards Ron. However, Dumbledore engaged him.
But the battle ahead wasn't easy. Dumbledore had to fight Voldemort and his two clones at the same time. Meanwhile, the other three clones aided the Death Eaters in subduing the Ministry.
Ron was in his own zone, however. He wanted to get rid of the Death Eaters first so he could focus on the clones. Each dead Death Eater meant more free wizards to fight the clones.
"Ron!"
Ron landed beside Hermione and heard her voice. He didn't know what to say, so he silently continued to fight. He joined Harry instead and helped whenever the clones tried to kill him.
It was utter chaos of magic.
Spells flew around and knocked rocks, ceiling, and whatever was around them. But so lost in the battle, they all slowly came onto the rock floor with the veil at the center.
"Avada Kedavra!" Ron killed another and took out an exploding device from his coat. "Sirius!"
Sirius caught it and threw it at one of the clones he was fighting.
Boom!
The surprise attack worked. The clone died, and half of its body exploded. A black steam oozed out of the dead body then, wailing like a ghost and rising into the sky. Then, it vanished.
"WEASLEY!" Voldemort's real body felt the death of one Horcrux. He roared despite fighting Dumbledore. "All of you! Kill that Weasley boy!"
"Yes! Come at me!" Ron welcomed all the Death Eaters. But none of them rushed towards him. There was hesitation in the last thirteen Death Eaters left. Even Bellatrix was hesitant. "Faltering already?"
Fuck, I can't see well. Ron knew he had lost blood from that apparition gone wrong. He gulped his saliva and marked all the main enemies, the last four clones. Even Dumbledore is struggling with three of them. He's… bleeding?
"Take them!" Voldemort roared all of a sudden.
What do you m—
"NO!" Ron roared and jumped forward to reach Moody. Amelia was right beside him. "Crucio!"
But he was too late. A clone of Voldemort had already apparated to Moody and captured him in a tight embrace. Right after that, the explosion happened.
Grrrrr~
It was intense! More than anything before. So blinding that everything got covered in a complete white light. Everything stood still for some time.
"Moody!" Sirius yelled in pure horror. Only Moody's fake leg was left on the ground. The rest of the body was gone. Not even blood was there. "Fuck! Stay away from the clones!"
"Take the minister!" Voldemort shouted.
"No, no!" Ron didn't waste any time and ran to Amelia. She was also injured in what killed Moody. He took out vials filled with freezing potions and threw them at the clone. The mist that formed slowed the lanky body.
That was enough time. Ron got in front of Amelia and swung his wand. "Avada Kedavra!"
The green flash hit the slowed clone and that was it. The body disintegrated into the air, and the soul within faded away.
"I'm sorry." Amelia, on the floor, firsthand saw the wound mark on Ron's back. She realized it was her fault. It felt shameful and heart-wrenching.
"We'll talk about it later," Ron replied and helped her stand up. "Stay back now! Don't make my blood go to waste. Kill the Death Eaters!"
Ron looked toward Dumbledore as the last two clones and Voldemort himself were fighting him. But seeing Dumbledore holding himself, he decided to kill the Death Eaters and clean up the battlefield.
Woosh!
Woosh!
He threw flasks of mist all around him. It helped Harry and the rest a lot. The Death Eaters had no idea how to deal with the mist instantly, and those few seconds always spelled doom.
"Goodbye, sister!" Sirius finally defeated his cousin, Bellatrix.
Shacklebolt defeated Rodolphus.
One by one, the last of the Death Eaters fell. The battle had gone on for far too long, and much blood had been spilled.
"Aaaaaaa! Kill him!"
Shhhh~
Just then, Voldemort and Dumbledore fell into a standstill. Both of their spells struck each other and it became a tug of war. However, that was bad for Dumbledore. The two Horcrux clones apparated and struck Dumbledore physically.
BOOM!
The two clones exploded at the same time—Ear shattering, blinding. It seemed as if the entire ceiling would fall down on them.
"Professor!" Sirius tried to rush forward despite the blindness.
Thud!
When everyone finally saw again, Dumbledore's body fell to the stone floor. He was still alive, but bleeding from every hole in his face, his veins visible, and counting last breaths.
"Haha! This is my victory!" Voldemort was unscathed, albeit a bit more insane. Losing so many pieces of his own soul must have some repercussions. "Avada Kedavra!"
Randomly, Voldemort sent killing curses at anyone near him. It was his own Death Eater that it landed on and died.
"Haha! Now, all that is left is…"
Only pure insanity was left in Voldemort.
"Hehe… Bellatrix! Kill them!"
Voldemort failed to see that Bellatrix was already dead.
"Avada Kedavra!" He attacked an Auror this time and continued to walk closer towards Harry.
Thud!
"Ugh!" Ron groaned at that time and fell to his knees. He spat a mouth full of blood, the pain and exhaustion sinking in. It was hard to see anything since everything was blurry. Even the stone ground was barely noticeable.
What the hell? Where is the bloody luck?
It ached everywhere. He felt his throat dry, and itchy inside. He felt his eyes burn. It was hard to even feel his own back, especially the left arm. There was no strength.
This isn't how it should end. No… It can't…
"Avada Kedavra! Hehaha!"
"Avada Kedavra!"
"Avada Kedavra!"
Argh… No, no! Fuck! Ron tried his all to pull himself back on his feet. Right in front of his eyes the Death Eaters and the Aurors were dying left and right. Just once more… I can do it. It's my fucking luck!
"Aaaaargh!" He roared as loud as he could, forcing his mind to trick itself. "I… Can… Kill…"
"Avada Kedavra!"
"Harry!" Ron looked towards Hermione's shrill. He failed to feel his heart beating anymore. He failed to hear any sounds around him. All he saw was Harry's body falling onto the floor after being hit.
"No, no…" Ron slammed his feet onto the ground and ran as fast as he could straight towards Voldemort. His eyes welled up, realizing his best friend was dead. The entire plan had gone to hell. "This ends now! Haaaa!"
Bam!
Ron slammed right into Voldemort like a bull, his arms clasped around the snake-like waist. He lifted the evil wizard off the ground and kept on running forward with a destination in mind.
Voldemort panicked and tried to struggle. "Weasley! You traitor!"
Just as Voldemort was about to lower his wand to strike him, Ron looked up with a bleeding grin.
"I won!"
Woosh!
Silence fell in the Death Chamber of the Department of Mysteries. All eyes stared at the black, fluttering veil in horror. Before any shouts or wails could arise, there were tears that formed. Bleeding, and battered, the destroyed battlefield was in ruins.
The battle was over.
"Ron!" Hermione ran towards the Veil.
Sirius caught her in time. "Stop! Stop it!"
"Harry! Ron! They're both gone!" Hermione cried and tried to do something. "Let me go!"
"Harry is alive! He was a Horcrux!" Sirius shouted at her. "He was meant to be hit by the spell! Dumbledore planned for it!"
"W-What... Did Ron?" Hermione looked back at Harry's body on the floor and then the veil. "D-Did he?"
"He didn't know," Sirius confessed, shame in his eyes. "Dumbledore forbade us."
"Even me?!" Amelia bellowed from the side. "Why wasn't I informed? Ron jumped in there thinking he lost his best friend! He…"
"Let me go!" Hermione coldly pushed Sirius away. "Harry will never forgive you for this."
"Ugh…"
Harry started to wake up just then. He looked around left and right.
"Did we win? What happened?"
Sniveling, Hermione jumped at Harry and hugged him.
"Harry… R-Ron… He's gone!"
