Chereads / Soaring as a Monster Bird in my Next Life! / Chapter 19 - Movement & Regroup

Chapter 19 - Movement & Regroup

After Vitaliana left and the city's chaos erupted, the several guards that had run over to the square, looked at each other, nodding for a moment.

"If a single Tori of the bird monsters is capable of this massacre, we shouldn't even bother defending. There is no point." One of the women said.

"The guards... No, the Empire has gone too far now. We can't fight these creatures. Their power is far too great." Another woman said, trembling.

"That's right, Let us head to the nearest holy place for Lady Eternia." Another said.

"But, if we go there like this... Will they even let us in?" Another woman asked.

They all looked at themselves, the armor they wore, that had once given them an overwhelming sense of pride and conviction, now only made their stomachs turn into knots.

"You're right, let us part with this sinful attire." One said, already starting to remove it.

"I'd rather be bare than wear this stuff." Another said as she started tearing the armor off as fast as she possibly could.

They proceeded to strip themselves of their armor. Opting to rather be nearly fully exposed, than to wear such armor. Some of them were, however, completely bare. Though they didn't care. They still entered a building and found some clothes to cover themselves with.

"Good now that everyone has enough to keep their dignity intact, let us make way for the nearest holy place. We must repent." One of them said as they then made their way there.

~ The City Lord's Mansion ~

"That damn bird! How dare it embarrass us like this!" The City Lord yelled, completely red in the face.

"My lord, might I speak freely?" The Butler asked, with a slight bow.

"Granted!" The City Lord grumbled.

"Why not make another announcement? Saying something along the lines of..." The City Lord's Butler said, explaining a few intricate details.

As the butler spoke the city lord's face grew more pleased. However, it wasn't enough to sate the City Lord's frustration. As a result the city lord grabbed one of the younger maids by the arm and threw her down on his bed.

"Well make the announcement after I'm done venting. Leave now." The City Lord yelled, ripping the maid's clothes.

The Butler bowed and left the room. Shutting the door behind him. Such actions are utterly disgusting. At least have relations like that with willing partners. Well, they are all humans so what do I care? They are, after all, nothing more than food to someone like myself. The Butler thought, walking away whistling.

It was at that moment that one of the maid's happened to notice an odd gleam of light shine from the Butler's mouth. Is... Is he a... No, those are nothing but horror stories to keep children well behaved... How could one possibly be here now? The maid thought slightly panicked, as she continued focusing on her cleaning duties.

The Butler walked right on by the maid. Hmm, she must have seen the City Lord pull that unfortunate maid inside the room with him. Oh! There's the sobbing from the unfortunate maid now. Perhaps this other maid had been close with the other one in the room, currently attending to the City Lord. Oh well, let's go and prepare that speech. He thought, continuing to whistle away.

~ Outside the City ~

Vitaliana regrouped with her sisters.

"Congratulations on the successful mission little sis. You did an excellent job. With the way you look now you could have the same name as me now. Heh heh. So, how was it?" Acialia asked with a happy chirp.

"It didn't go entirely according to plan... But I did kill quite a few of those vile people." Vitaliana replied, shaking her feathers all over the place. The still wet blood, was shaken off. "Hmm, it seems I'll need to take a bath soon." She added with a hmph.

"Ahahaha, little sister doesn't need to worry about that kind of thing. Once we bathe after this battle I'm sure you'll be fine. Though it is funny given what your name is. Anyway, how many humans did you kill? And what level are you at now?" Aieria giggled, landing on a branch nearby.

"Well, it was only just under 50. However, I got the experience points from the humans that they had killed as well. So I got the experience of nearly 50 Guards. And over 100 citizens ranging from young to old. All said and done, it was quite a good haul. Though, it's also made something painfully obvious..." Vitaliana answered, seeming annoyed.

"Hmm, what might that be?" Aieria asked.

"My level... it didn't go up nearly as high as it should have. And I have most of the skills that give a boost to experience. Right now this is my status..." Vitaliana answered.

"Wait, are you serious? Only level 34! Sure it's not that big of a deal given you're still stronger than the strongest of Tori Naru. Even still, that's a stupidly low amount of levels. You should be evolving by now. I mean, you're still just a Tori. That alone should have been more than enough to just level up to level 50." Acialia said with a look of shock, turning her head to the side. "Let me check as well... It's true... you really are only that strong..." She added, after appraising Vitaliana for herself.

"Well look at it this way, if Vitaliana has next to no problem with those weapons... This, well, this might be far easier to deal with than we might have thought. And we know that with our more advanced versions of the same skills... Heh heh, The only weapon we really need to worry about is the one they hid in the food." Fernia explained.

"Sisters, the problem is that the humans, who are supposed to give practically the most experience of all creatures... Are pathetically weaker now. It's likely due to their odd reliance on these firearms... And because of the nature of Vitaliana's status.." Flairiana said, seemingly a little bit tired as she perched upon a branch as well.

"The humans have simultaneously made themselves a weapon that can basically kill anything at or below a certain level. Unless they have the skills to deal with it, while also making themselves effectively worthless to kill for experience." Fulgiana added landing as well.

"""Which means we have to kill even more human's for the same reward...""" All six sisters sighed.

All Elemental Affinity ~ A passive skill, one that signifies the bearer has the required acumen to wield all elements. Increases overall control of all elemental spells, regardless of how they are used. Secondary effect, when attacked with elemental magic of any kind, from monsters, people or the natural environment, the effects will be significantly reduced.

This skill is also highly sought after among Mages, Magus and High Magus. As such, simply having it makes one, one of the best there is. However, all those who have reached the title of High Magus, have acquired this skill. And it is thus thought to be one of the requirements to achieve the title. Only adding even further desire towards the acquisition of the skill.
