"Tsk, she doesn't look promising, beta, I don't know how to tell the Alpha, he spent a lot on this one." A woman who didn't look a day over fifty said, concern laced her voice.
"I can still hear her pause, it's faint, but it's a sign you're doing the right thing, Margaret."
Ada heard the strange voices from her dream, she was accurately aware of her surroundings but she was unable to talk or move, her body felt like it was filled with lead.
She guessed something had happened to her, probably from the attack by the vampires which led to her being unconscious.
She was kind of happy. She survived, she was glad to be alive, but she had to find a way to wake up. She needed to know where she was and start making her escape plans.
"Don't worry, Margaret, I'll report her condition to the Alpha myself. Just focus on getting her to wake up." The beta informed Margaret and walked out of the room.
"Hey, girl,"
Ada was standing in the middle of a large clearing when she heard someone talk to her.
"Who was that?" She asked, turning to check if there was any other person present in the lonely clearing.
"Over here, Ada." This voice sounded different and very close behind her.
Ada quickly turned around, but, nothing prepared her for what she saw.
A pure white wolf was standing beside a girl who was exactly like her, but she noticed something off. The girl had red-shot eyes and long fangs protruding, with hair reaching below her waist and her nails perfectly manicured in red. And, instead of her black mid-back hair length, hers was below the waist and looked more silky.
"Who are you?" She asked, taking a step away from them.
"We are you, Ada." The wolf replied.
Ada could understand the part of the wolf, it was probably her dormant wolf, but, who the hell was that vampiric-looking bitch?
"She..." Ada pointed at the girl, "Is me?" She asked, eyeing the girl skeptically, how could this be? She was a wolf, not a vampire, she hated vampires. This was probably a silly dream playing with her brain because she was unconscious.
"Ada, we are your wolf and vampire sides, we are here to help you. You're dying." The girl said.
"Then let me die! I'll never become a vampire, never!" Ada said and turned around to leave.
"Don't you want to take your revenge anymore? " the vampire girl asked, halting Ada in her retreating steps.
"What do you know, you're a vampire, after all, you would never turn against your kind," Ada replied hotly.
"Yes, she is a vampire, and she's a part of you, just like I am. Now, stop being stubborn and listen to us." Her wolf said.
"Don't judge a book by its cover. Daxton is a wolf, but look how he treats his kind. Just as not all wolves are good, so it is in the vampire clan. There are still people who would be the black sheep of the family," The vampire girl said calmly,
Ada reasoned what the vampire girl said and saw sense in it.
"So, how did I become a vampire, and how am I dying as you said?" Ada asked, folding her arms.
"You don't have much time to be here, you're about to be awakened. But, all I can tell you is that, we'll be here for you when you need us, we just came to heal you, you were deeply wounded, almost dead," The wolf said.
"At least tell me how I became a bloodsucker!" Ada asked impatiently.
"We'll remain dormant to save you from the Alpha, he'll kill you the moment he finds out you're a vampire and a wolf. You are a threat to him. You'll find out about everything soon." The vampire girl and the wolf walked towards Ada and hugged her while the wolf used her head to rub affectionately on her leg.
"What are your names again?" Ada whispered.
"I'm Red," The vampire girl said.
"I'm Ava." The wolf said.
Before Ada could reply, she felt a cold compress on her forehead, and she saw her wolf and vampire disappear into the thin air.
"No, no, wait!"
"Shh! It's okay child, don't move." Ada heard the familiar voice beside her, and she felt a hand hold her down by the shoulders.
Ada managed to open her eyes with the excruciating headache, through her blurry vision, she saw a middle-aged lady, sitting beside her on a stool, the room was so small, she thought it was a cell, but the tiny window, the barely-there bed and the small table by the corner made her believe it wasn't a cell.
"Where am I?" She managed to ask with her dry throat. Coughing afterward.
"Here, drink this. He would be here anytime soon. Behave," The old lady offered her water in a dirty-looking cup, but she didn't have a choice, her throat felt like a heated desert.
"Thank you, ma'am. But, who's com-"
"Shh, he's here." The woman said, shushing her.
The weak wooden door was pushed open, and in came her worst nightmare; Alpha Daxton.
Behind him was a doctor, judging by the white coat, glasses, and stethoscope around his neck, he was a doctor.
She went still, comprehending the whole situation. So, they did survive the vampires, and now, she was here in the Dark Moon Pack. She was now officially his slave.
She decided not to let him see how badly his presence affected her temper.
The atmosphere in the room came down to zero degrees. Everyone was on edge, they feared being in the same confinement as the Alpha.
"A-alpha, I-i was just about to-to come and t-t-tell you that your s-slave has woken." The old lady stuttered, bowing her head as she spoke.
"Get up, slave!" He commanded,
Ada wanted to resist, but she decided against it. Whether she liked it or not, she was now his slave, and if she wanted to be able to execute her plans of murdering him and escaping, she had to behave, just like the lady had suggested. Behave and not draw the attention of the devil to herself.
"Careful," The old lady held Ada up.
Ada had painstakingly managed to stand up, but she lost her balance.
"Unhand her, Margaret." He said coldly.
"Yes, Alpha." Margaret let Ada go at once.
She swayed from left to right but managed to steady herself.
He scoffed at her attempt to appear strong.
"You're expected to resume your duties tonight," He spoke, "Margaret will show you around and assign your designated duties to you." The hatred could be heard in his speech.
"Yes, master," Ada replied.
She noticed the doctor and Margaret look at her strangely, but she did not care, she hadn't done anything wrong...yet.
Alpha Daxton watched the girl as she swayed from left to right, looking like she would drop dead the next second, but she managed to hold still. He smirked. Game on!
She still had some fight left in her, he was more than happy to subdue it.
In his years of owning slaves, none has ever called him master, they were always eager to call him their Alpha, but this slut was here, indirectly telling him that he was not worthy of being her Alpha. He would so break her.
"Umm, Alpha, if I may speak?" The doctor said timidly, pushing his glasses back in place with his finger.
"Speak, Maurice." Alpha Daxton said coldly.
"Um, I don't think it's okay for her to work tonight. She had just awoken from a week's coma, and her body was still weak. She needs to sleep tonight, for her system to come back in place. I mean, It's just a suggestion Alpha," Doc. Maurice said.
"She works tonight." Alpha Daxton said in an unquestionable tone.
"Yes, Alpha," Margaret replied on Ada's behalf when she saw that Ada didn't look like she was ready to respond any time soon.
"She seems fine, Doctor. See, even the wound on her wrist has healed perfectly. My herbs worked just fine." Margaret held up Ada's hand, showing her wrist to the Alpha and Doctor.
"About that, I'm sorry, Ms. Margaret. It wasn't your herbs this time." Doc. Maurice Pushed his glasses back and opened the file he was carrying.
"Alpha, I noticed something strange when I was testing her blood. She was not supposed to survive such a ghastly wound, most wolves' would not survive a night with it, but she survived seven nights, she's completely healed, and may I remind us that she's also...wolf-less." Doc. Maurice spoke and eyed Ada suspiciously.
"What are you?!" Before they could stop him, he already had her by the neck, lifting her off the floor, strangling her.
"Speak! What did you do?" He barked at her face.
"Let, me go!" She squeezed out the words the best her strangled throat would let her.
She'd rather die than tell him what she was.
"Um, I don't think she knows, Alpha. I found a strange trait in her DNA, I couldn't identify what it was, it seemed like it was hiding on purpose, and it was very strong. But it is dormant for now, and, it will be for a long time." Doc. Maurice explained.
"But whatever it was, was what saved her, and healed her. Not the herbs," Doc. Maurice looked at Margaret, making sure she got the message.
"Ugh!" Ada exclaimed as Alpha Daxton suddenly released her without warning,
Landing her on the hard floor.
"Margaret, you know what to do." He said with an underlying warning.
"Yes, Alpha,"
