Chapter 16 - In the Flesh

Cordelia paced forth following the blood trails, barely avoiding hitting anything on her way, with the boost in her speed from her set of clothes.

Unbeknownst to her, several patterns had formed behind her back, radiating from her clothes, closely resembling the form of a large, fierce white wolf.

Due to the form of the wolf, no monsters approached her and fled in fear, allowing her to close the gap between her and the unknown injured person even faster.

Juder, however, had to move around very carefully as his body was laced with blood and still bleeding, inciting the monsters around for a hearty meal of his flesh.

'I can't even wait to recover,' Juder knew his situation better than anyone and hence, continued to increase the gap, even if just slightly.

If nothing goes wrong, the two would finally meet.

Unexpectedly, nothing actually got wrong as Cordelia inched ever so closer to the injured person.

'These blood drops... They are fresh...'

She didn't have the knowledge or skills to discern something like that.

The only reason she thought it to be fresh was because the blood still flowed and the amount of it decreased.

'Most likely, he or she, somehow stopped the bleeding but their movement caused some wounds to reopen and blood oozed out.'

Cordelia didn't know anything about the one she chased as the distance between the dying man and her was too great for her to hear his words. She had only heard him mumbling something.

Tsk

'I wouldn't even be chasing you, whoever you are, if you weren't going to the Hidden Piece.'

'If not for it to be too much of a coincidence and wanting to ask you, would I have strayed from the path to follow you?'

Cordelia already knew that she had strayed slightly from the path to the Hidden Piece to chase the injured.

Like a festering wound, she wouldn't leave without getting a suitable answer that satiates her regarding the matter.

Cordelia target place was straight north and then slightly west, but she had traveled north-east because of the battle noises.

After leaving that place, she moved in the western direction with slightly going south. However, the injured she started to chase strayed her to the north-western path.

This became a cause of concern for her as the Hidden Piece existed in that direction, just more northward than westward.

'I even have to search for the place in the northwest around the landmark of a rocky hill.'

Cordelia felt frustrated by the situation and even thought of ignoring the injured person yet her cautious side along with slightest glimmer of hope in order to figure out which part of the novel she transmigrated into led her to chase after the unknown person.

'I don't care who he or she is, I am definitely going to beat them until I am satisfied before getting my answers.'

Alas, her thoughts of thrashing the person were destined to just remain thoughts as she finally caught site of someone in the ends of her vision.

'There!' Cordelia exclaimed inwardly before fervently chasing after the person she saw in her vision.

Rustle

Whoosh

'Shit!' Juder cursed as he heard the rustling of bushes and aound of the whistling wind behind him, causing him to give it a last push to increase his pace.

"Where are you running to!?" Cordelia shouted in rage as her emotions ran wild at the scene in front of her.

The injured person who she couldn't see much of tried to increase the distance with their last struggle, but she could see the blood drops increasing.

'Your wounds are just reopening, idiot! And I am not here to kill you or something.'

Cordelia couldn't just shout that, could she? And even if she did, who'd believe her in this situation?

Certainly, not the one running for his life.

However, a look of surprise flashed his eyes upon hearing the voice. 'A woman? Since when did Adrian start to hire women?'

Juder, unfortunately, knew all too well about his cousin and his tendency to indulge in women, disregarding any voice or pleas of rejection.

'No! He wouldn't send a woman, but then why is she chasing after me!?'

Suddenly, and incredulous thought appeared inside his head as he thought of something, 'Could it be...?'

"Stop chasing after me! You pervert!" Juder shouted in retort with a voice that sounded as if he got molested.

Well, his shout caused Cordelia to nearly stumble on her path and hit the ground before she barely regained her balance as veins throbbed on her forehead with a distribing smile on her face.

"Who pervert? You fucker! You pervert! Your entire family pervert!"

Cordelia wasn't one to back off when it comes to hurling insults, especially when she was called a pervert out of the blue. 'What the fuck is wrong with this man!? Why so narcissistic? Is he some Young Master or something?'

Unfortunately, neither knew how their first meeting would spural out as Juder ended up stumbling at his insult. 'No one has ever called me a pervert! What's wrong with this crazy woman!?'

Alas, this time, he couldn't outrun her as directly skidded past him and made sure to press his shoulder, preventing him from getting up.

'Now that I take a closer look at him...'

'Black hair, red eyes with a defiant look irrespective of his situation...'

'Is he an idiot?' Cordelia wondered in awe at his defiant look as if he didn't fear her despite him being severely injured and her being faster than him.

However, Cordelia barely controlled her breathing from going out of control as she had exhausted all her stamina and the air in her lungs to reach him.

'If he did not fall, I might've run out of stamina.'

While controlling her breathing, she observed him.

His body was drenched in blood, but whose? That was unknown.

His white T-shirt had cuts in several places, making various wounds visible, and the black pants were in a similar condition while his shoes were totally crimsoned.

Despite his battered condition, his charm was very much visible, causing Cordelia to question her standards.

'But why does he seem familiar?'

Cordelia wondered while observing him even more carefully before something seemed to have struck in her mind.

'Black hair, orange-crimson eyes, extremely handsom with an athletic build giving off an air of nonchalance even in the face of death...'

Just as the thought crossed her mind, she unconsciously let out two words, "Juder Bayer..."

Despite his slight surprise and shock, he affirmed rhetorically with a mocking bow, "In the Flesh."
