Chapter 25 - Physical Proximity

Cassia's gaze was fixated on the scroll. Her movements as she drew the enchanted scroll were very delicate and soft. Despite his best efforts to focus on the magic scroll, Leo couldn't help but take a few looks at her absolutely beautiful face.

The soft light of the candles danced across her features, the way her brows furrowed in concentration, and the way her soft pink lips moved silently as she cast the spell. It was hard to believe that someone so ethereal could exist in this world.

A man's best appearance comes from concentration, and the same is true for women. Cassia's body was generating a charm that compelled Leo to approach her.

Cassia drew really nicely at first. She had probably practiced this section on her own several times. But all of a sudden, things got a little harder as the rune count increased.

Leo could not help but scowl as he saw each rune she added to the scroll. He could now identify the difference between the normal enchanting method and his old enchantment technique.

To put it simply, the old magic technique was introduced through the common enchantment approach. Consider the following wild explosion rune: Leo was aware that Cassia was presently drawing significantly fewer runes than there were in the Wild Explosion rune!

Since a lot of runes had been lost, the current enchantment technique was not perfect. Because there was no right way to work with the power, many enchanters had to find a different way to get it to work. This method reduced the spell's impact, but it was still possible to draw it this way.

Cassia was now confronting this type of predicament. Because there were so many lost runes, the skill needed for enchanters has increased significantly. If there were any mistakes, they would have a significant influence on the entire rune, maybe breaking it completely.

Cassia's face began to sweat somewhat as she reached eighty percent completion of the rune drawing. It was not because of a lack of her soul energy, but rather a loss of control over the entire rune. The Wild Explosion rune was known for its extreme volatility and explosive properties.

"It is over! It's over!" Cassia moaned in her heart, "This time, I failed again. Problems always arose at this stage."

Just as she was about to give up, a warm hand rested on her shoulders, and she felt a comforting presence pass over her, stirring her heart.

A thin hand extended out in front of her. Leo took a little amount of liquid and swiftly created a rune, which he then placed on the blank scroll. The rune, which had before been practically unmanageable, suddenly became steady again.

"Don't be anxious; continue!" Cassia heard Leo's soothing voice in her ear. The hand that had just rested on Cassia's shoulder was undoubtedly his.

Cassia's eyes immediately lit up when she saw that Leo had stabilized the Wild Explosion rune, which was on the verge of failing. The ancient enchantment technique was really wonderful!

Suddenly, the positions of the two had become extremely awkward. She relaxed in her heart, and her delicate finger continued to glide, making the rune and drawing. Leo, who was by her side, was assisting her in filling in the gaps by planting a rune in strategic spots every now and then, ensuring that the entire rune was stable.

The two were able to work together well, and because they were concentrating on the scroll, Leo and Cassia were both oblivious to the fact that the gap between them was getting smaller and smaller. It appeared as though Leo was wrapping his arm around her shoulder, giving the impression that they were hugging each other.

The Wild Explosion was successfully drawn not long after that, with a spectacular burst of light appearing on the scroll!

"Ah! Finally, we got it!" Cassia excitedly shouted.

Her excited shout suddenly awoke them, who had been immersed in enchanting. Upon realizing their physical proximity, Cassia's face suddenly blushed a bit. She had hardly ever experienced this level of closeness with a young man before.

Leo, who had just woken up, apologized many times and whisked his arm away from Cassia's shoulder.

"aa.. I.. am sorry. I was just trying to finish the enchantment scroll and did not mean to do anything," he said.

Being told this by Leo, Cassia's face became ever more red, and she somewhat embarrassedly said, "It's no problem. I want to thank you. If it were not for you, then I am afraid that this time would have been another failure. This is the first time succeeding, even after drawing so many times."

"I just felt like failing like this would be too wasteful, so I couldn't help but make a move," Leo replied, sounding somewhat embarrassed.

The two of them had a tacit agreement that they would not discuss the recent event, despite the fact that it had been recorded in both of their hearts.

"Oh yeah, was that the old enchantment skill you used with the runes you just used?" Cassia inquired.

Leo gave a nod, saying, "Ah. Actually, Miss Cassia, you are far better at drawing runes than I am. The runes are the root of the issue. Because the rune you are using has a lot of gaps in it, even the smallest error can cause the rune to collapse. Essentially, I just filled in the blanks that you left."

"Ooh, that's how it is, huh. The teacher seemed to have spoken accurately. I still have a lot more practicing to do." Seeming a little confused, Cassia said. The response she received from her tutor and the president of the Enchanter Guild was that her skill level was insufficient.

Listening to Leo now, that's exactly how it was. Naturally, there wouldn't be any issues if she had mastered the rune and made no mistakes.

Seeing Cassia's lost look, Leo couldn't help but feel a swell of pity. He suddenly said: "Actually, I can teach you a few runes. You also know that the ancient enchanting skills greatest strengths are their integration and stability. As long as you can practice using those runes enough, from then on, it will help your ability to draw runes."

Cassia glanced up at Leo, surprised, and asked, "Can you really? Your master will not reprimand you or anything?"

Why would Cassia not want to learn those runes? However, it was not so easy to speak aloud. After all, many things were secretly passed on. Right now, Leo actually said he could teach her, and of course she was surprised and excited.

"There's no problem. My master is quite tolerant and did not counsel me in any manner. Just teaching you a few runes shouldn't be difficult." Leo grinned and said,.

Leo finished speaking and waved his hand, a piece of soul energy condensed on his fingertip. "Miss Cassia, I will show these runes for you a few times. Pay close attention."

Leo sketched out a trace of crystalline rune lines using his fingertip motion. Because it was a demonstration for Cassia to watch, his speed was very slow, making sure that Cassia could see clearly.

"This, could it be this is the Void Drawing Rune skill? Leo, your talent is too amazing!" As Cassia watched Leo draw the rune, she shouted in surprise.

Leo did not answer and instead grinned. He proceeded to draw his rune in the air, while Cassia suppressed her amazement and focused on Leo's activities. This was a terrific learning opportunity that should not be missed.

Cassia had decent talent. After Leo had drawn it a few times, she had memorized the rune firmly in her mind. The next step would just be practicing and applying it.

"Leo, you said you drew another two Wild Explosion scrolls, right? Could I buy it from you? I want to return and experience it a bit more." Cassia said.

"If you want it, then just take it." Leo simply took out the other two scrolls and gave them to Cassia. This time, not only did he reap a middle grade iron grade sword with a price of over ten thousand taels of gold, but Cassia had also told him about the matter of the ancient enchanting technique. Compared to that, two Wild Explosion scrolls were not worth mentioning. Leo was grateful for the opportunities he had.

Cassia puckered her lips in a smile, gently teasing her hair. With a charming look, she said, "How can that work? Freya gave Amorith the sword. I can not take advantage of her. As for the matter of me reminding you, you just taught me about runes. In the end, I have taken advantage of you."

Although Leo insisted on giving it to Cassia for free, in the end, Cassia still bought each scroll for 1,500 taels of gold each, buying both Wild Explosion scrolls for a total of 3,000 taels of gold.

In reality, there probably wasn't a single enchantment scroll that had been drawn using the ancient enchantment technique in all of Stellaria City. If Leo sold it publicly, he could fetch a high price, but it would also come with risks. Selling it to Cassia was a good choice due to her genuine interest in learning and practicing the ancient enchantment technique.
