The slave ships were surprisingly clean. All of the slaves were loaded into cells below deck, but at the surface at least, the ship was clean, and there were many innocent-looking crates and boxes littering the storage rooms.
"It's weird they just let us walk in here." Sebastian mused, helping Jylan climb up a few steps.
"Maybe it's because of the blindfold. I must look like a pirate." Jylan replied.
They continued throughout the ship until Sebastian spotted what he assumed was a trapdoor to the bottom deck. Jylan also stomped on the ground, and a dry echo followed.
"It's hollow," Jylan confirmed.
Sebastian opened the latch to the trapdoor and peered down it. There was no light, only pitch darkness. Luckily, there was a lantern right next to the door. Sebastian grabbed the handle and said,
"Let's go, Jylan. I guess it's now or never." The butler smiled and slipped through the hole, seemingly not even needing to tell where he was. It appeared his other senses were making up for the loss of sight. Sebastian tried to stop the oil in the lantern from spilling as he also climbed down.
In the pitch darkness, the lantern illuminated the shadows of their faces, and, most of all, Jylan's blindfold. It was a red color, which was shining against his skin. Almost instantly there were a few shouts of alarm. Yep, there were human people here. Jylan carefully wrapped a hand around the nearest bar of a cell seemingly trying to find out where he was or how close the bars were.
"Hello, everyone. I'm sure those cells are uncomfortable. Would you like to come out?"
