The battle was long and messy. Eris had already disappeared to who-knows-where, and Sebastian was left poking his dagger in random directions. It only connected half the time, to make things worse. In the other half, the blade of his dagger was met with a squeak of metal on metal. There was a dull pounding in his head, all his senses sharpened in anticipation, and his throat was dry. When was the last time he drank water?
Oh yes. The time he had been in the cottage with Jylan. The same Jylan who he has ended up punching
Sebastian shook his head free of the thoughts, which, for some reason. made his heartache, dodged a blow behind the head from the nearest attacker, and then threw his arm back kung-fu style (sisi would be proud), and punched the, no pun intended, backstabber in the head. Hurrah.
Sebastian stopped momentarily to
Then, someone grabbed his head from behind. Another pair of hands wrestled the dagger out of his grip, and it landed on the dry soil, and there it lay, gleaming. Sebastian's eyes widened, and then he realized the hands grabbing his head were wearing a ring. A very familiar ring, at that. A ring that had the crest of the royal family.
oop. What a plot twist.
So the people behind him were the infamous advisors.
Sebastian sighed.
Welp.
We knew this would happen.
Sebastian was taken to yet another room, with a knife held to his throat. He knew this room, since he had tried, and failed, to enter it many times. And of course, after its owner passed away, it had been left untouched for many years.
It was his father's room.
The curtains were closed, and the carpet had a few cigarette stains in it. The whole room stank faintly of alcohol, which blurred his thoughts slightly, even though the scent had faded with time. In the fireplace were ashes - a certain clump of the ashes was likely from the card he had made all those years ago. In total, it was a dark room, although it was sparingly decorated, it didn't look fit for royalty at all. Instead, it looked like a home decoration project gone wrong. Sebastian gulped. The things coming back to him were not pleasant memories, but…
"Why are we in my father's room?" Sebastian asked. One of the advisors smiled, and said,
"Prince. Why do you think we killed your parents?"
Sebastian was silent. He didn't want to answer - and even if he did, his mouth was somehow frozen shut the moment it mattered the most.
"Well. They were no use to us anymore. Even though your parents were part of Oculus, they stopped serving their purpose after a while. So we killed them. Boohoo."
Sebastian was silent. Oculus. He stored it away in his mind for later. Then, he spoke, trying to keep his voice steady and emotionless.
"Why are you telling me this?
The advisors now chuckled. Not just one or two of them - all of them, together. The curtains were still shut, painting Sebastian's face in a wash of dim rays. Even without meaning, his face looked miserable.
"Well, of course, we want you to join us."
