The next week, it was officially April 16th, also known as Jylan's birthday. Sebastian, who, in the gap where they had been apart, had started mournfully at Jylan's resume for who knows how long, and had thus memorized his date of birth, height, and all that stuff. Kinda weird, but I guess you do you, Sebastian. Anyway, our MC took a break from making (or, in this case, dyeing carpets - Jylan was the one who sewed them), to do something else, but still related to fabric. This was quite confusing for Jylan, who, in those two years, had been so caught up in grinding paperwork that he had worked even on weekends, forgetting birthdays. Sebastian didn't, though.
The whole day, he shut himself upstairs, with a book about sewing, and spent multiple grueling hours pricking his finger. Ouch. My condolences, dude. Pricking yourself with needles hurts. Anyway, while Sebastian was sewing, but not exactly sewing - a book can only teach you so much, and even though Sebastian was a fast learner, his stitches looked almost on par with Jylan's, there were still a few mistakes that would have sent the butler into ultimate emotional damage. For example, one thread was loose and sticking at an angle out of the fabric in a small loop-de-loop. The butler would have fainted if he saw this, especially since it was a rookie mistake.
Anyway, You might be curious as to what exactly this prince was making in the first place. And the answer was - dolls.
Yep. You read that right. Dolls. Remember the old Valentine's gifs from many many chapters ago? Yeah. Those types of dolls. Sebastian was carefully sewing together the body of a set of Valentine's dolls. One had purple hair and amber eyes, along with a small scar that was made with brown thread. One doll had chocolate brown hair and light green button eyes. One had chestnut brown hair and green eyes. Currently, it was a small collection of three - every disguise Jylan had worn so far. All of the dolls looked a bit untidy, but after Sebastian cut away the spare threads and wiped the dye away with a square of cloth, they looked like something you'd find at an ordinary market. Not so bad for 7 hours of work, that too with no breaks. Finally, Sebastian paused, raised a pen in the air, and gently scrawled the word "Jylan" on the backs of all the dolls. Hurrah. Then he gently placed them side-by-side in a small box, threw some wrapping paper over it, and added a random romantic quote he had found in a book.
All done.
