(It's 5 chapters a day now since I finished the series and now just have like 60 chapters sitting in my computer)
Lei's castle, or at least, what used to be her castle, looked quite normal on the outside. It had a gray, misty color palette, with lots of hues of misty gray and bright teal, and many pointy high spires that waved to her from the sky.
No, it was what was inside the tower that really terrified her.
Her room had been a small attic, with only a small mattress in one corner, where she was given books on all kinds of subjects, and depending on how well she studied, the amount of food she was given was decided. Of course, if she answered poorly or took too much time, there were beatings as well.
But Lei, ever persistent, had refused to bow to these cretins. Which was why she had slowly started leaking information about her kingdom to the enemy empire - The Kingdom of Lekan - which was how she had met Chris, and soon enough, she had left all that behind. She didn't ever want to return. And she wasn't supposed to, either, but now everything was …
and even worse, she had left behind perhaps the only person who could have helped her…
Sighing, Lei walked up to the familiar castle gates. There was a familiar blue-uniformed guard at the front, and Lei politely bowed to him, and then said, "I'd like to become a maid." The guard frowned, and then said, "Do you have an education, Ma'am?" Lei nodded. The guard asked a few more things, writing them down on a piece of paper, and then handed it to her. Lei took it and folded the paper neatly, and then the guard gave her room keys. "Sleep here tonight for now. Tomorrow you'll take the test for qualification."
Lei nodded and took the keys, also putting them in her pocket, and hurried down the halls. The guard watched her go, and muttered to himself,
"She didn't even ask for directions, as if she's seen this castle before…"
