The next morning, the woman woke up Sebastian, who had barely been able to sleep a wink, and Jylan, who had slept like it was the last night of his life. As they both came downstairs, rubbing their eyes, the young girl looked at the two.
"Mister, you have eyebags." The little girl said, drinking milk from a glass as Sebastian sagged into his chair. Jylan chuckled and patted her head, and then whispered to her, "He always has eye bags." The little girl's eyes grew wide and she said, "Why?" Jylan winked and whispered something to her, and Sebastian leaned forward to cover her ears. "Don't fill the child's mind with propaganda." He hissed, and Jylan pouted. "You always ruin my fun, Sebas." Then the gray-haired woman came in and handed them each a shovel with her worn hands.
"There's some flower beds that need planting." The woman said, and they each took a shovel and then went outside. Jylan sat down on the grass, where there were a few lines marked as to what they had to dig up, and Sebastian sighed loudly, sitting down as well.
"So, until we can get some money and find our way back …" Jylan started, and Sebastian nodded, poking the tip of his shovel into the grass. Jylan did the same, and finally, Sebastian accidentally catapulted dirt into the air, splattering on them both.
"...You are clumsy, My Prince." Jylan laughed, further smearing the dirt on his nose so that it was a single brown streak. Sebastian watched, and said, "It'll take more effort to wash it off if you do that." Jylan shrugged. "I don't care. It's fun."
Curious, Sebastian tapped a speck of dirt onto his nose. Jylan watched, seemingly trying not to laugh, which instantly made Sebastian frown, which only smeared the dash of dirt on his face further. "Do not laugh at me, butler."
"But you're so funny~!" Jylan said, holding his shovel out, and Sebastian took the hint and tapped it with his own, a sort of secret handshake. Yes, everything was imperfect and uncertain, and there were a few times where he simply felt like giving up.
Yes, indeed, he was happier than he ever had been.
