Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: The First Trial: Part 2

They slipped into the passage, their senses heightened. The air grew colder, and an ominous growl echoed through the corridor. A massive shadow beast, its eyes glowing with malevolence, emerged from the darkness, blocking their path.

Malachi felt a surge of adrenaline. "Lilith, Azazel, flank it. Belial, you're with me."

As they moved into position, the beast lunged, its claws swiping through the air with lethal intent. Lilith darted to the side, her dagger slicing through the creature's shadowy form, while Azazel chanted a spell that bound the beast's movements. Belial, laughing maniacally, hurled bolts of dark energy at the creature, each one exploding on impact.

Malachi seized the opportunity and charged forward, his blade cutting through the beast's core. With a final, echoing roar, the shadow beast dissolved into the ether.

Breathing heavily, the group pressed on. The hidden passage led them closer to the center of the maze, where the Infernal Key awaited. As they approached, the walls began to close in, and the path became a gauntlet of traps and illusions. But their determination and unity saw them through each obstacle.

Finally, they reached a circular chamber bathed in a sinister red light. At the center, atop a pedestal, rested the Infernal Key, its surface shimmering with dark energy. Malachi stepped forward, grasping the key and feeling a surge of power course through him.

With the key in hand, they retraced their steps, navigating the maze with a newfound confidence. As dusk approached, they emerged from the labyrinth, triumphant and exhausted.

Morgath awaited them at the courtyard, his expression inscrutable. "Well done," he intoned. "You have proven yourselves worthy of continuing your training. But remember, this is only the beginning. The true challenges lie ahead."

As the shadows lengthened and the day gave way to night, Malachi, Lilith, Azazel, and Belial stood together, ready to face whatever the Infernal Academy would throw at them next.
