Chapter 147 - Sona!?

Chapter 147 - Sona!?

The reward for the quest remained the same as before, and Mahiro was quite satisfied.

He had noticed that ever since the dimensional world was unlocked, the reward points in the main world had been replaced with lottery draws.

The reward points were directly ignored.

This change in rewards was quite beneficial.

In previous main quests within the Highschool DxD, the reward points were only one or two thousand—far too low compared to the dimensional world rewards.

Now, with everything being replaced by lottery draws...

"But right now, I don't even know where this Kokabiel is hiding," Mahiro frowned.

"System, can you locate the mission target?"

Mahiro asked.

He remembered that in the system's first quest, which required him to defeat three stray devils, he was able to spend points to locate them.

This time, he also needed to find the target. He wasn't sure if it would work again.

[For one thousand points, you can search the current location of the target]

The system responded.

"One thousand points? That's not bad," Mahiro smiled.

He had expected the price to be over five thousand, given that Kokabiel was cadre-class fallen angel.

"Search for me," Mahiro ordered.

A moment later, the system provided the location.

After seeing the result, Mahiro's expression turned a bit strange.

Because he knew this place.

"These Fallen Angels really love hiding in churches," Mahiro said, shaking his head.

The last time he dealt with Asia's problems, the Fallen Angels were hiding in a church on the outskirts.

This time, Kokabiel was also using a church as his hideout.

Mahiro wondered whether these Fallen Angels still held some form of faith after their fall, or they chose churches to mock the heavens as an act of revenge.

Either way, they always seemed to end up in churches.

Now that he had the location, Mahiro directly used teleportation magic.

On the outskirts of Kuoh Town, an abandoned church stood alone on a hillside.

Suddenly, at the foot of the mountain, a magic circle appeared, and Mahiro emerged from it.

"Huh?"

When he appeared, Mahiro noticed something odd. Instead of being near the church, he found himself at the foot of the mountain.

"Error?" Mahiro muttered, puzzled.

Then, Mahiro's gaze shifted to the middle of the mountain.

"A barrier? No wonder," Mahiro narrowed his eyes.

An invisible barrier surrounded the church, and it appeared quite advanced. This barrier had blocked the teleportation magic.

After all, teleportation magic wasn't powerful; it was just a basic spatial spell.

It was only natural to be blocked by such a barrier.

"Well, I'll just go up."

Mahiro quickly began walking up the mountain path toward the church.

As he walked, the sky above the church seemed to swirl with chaotic colors, and an overwhelming sense of pressure loomed in the air.

The closer he got, the heavier the oppressive atmosphere became.

Then, Mahiro saw it.

On the roof of the church stood a large cross.

And on that cross, Sona, who had been captured by Kokabiel, was nailed to it.

Sona's hands were pierced by spears of light, pinning her to the cross in a pose reminiscent of Jesus, the Son of God.

Mahiro didn't recklessly rush in. After a quick glance, he confirmed there were no traps around.

He immediately used Shunpo and appeared next to Sona.

"Sona."

Mahiro lightly patted her cheek, calling her name.

"Mahiro..."

Sona, who had her eyes closed, slowly blinked them open and managed to whisper his name with great difficulty.

"It doesn't look too serious," Mahiro said, smiling.

He then used his Mystic Eyes of Distortion, absorbing the spears of light that had pinned Sona's hands.

With the light spears gone, Sona fell weakly from the cross, and Mahiro caught her in his arms.

"Thank... you..." Sona said hoarsely.

"Let's heal you first," Mahiro replied.

He began using primary healing. While it wasn't as effective as Asia's, it still worked quite well.

Sona's injuries were worse than Tsubaki's, with several burn marks left by the power of light on her body.

It was clear that Kokabiel had attacked her head-on, resulting in such severe injuries.

"Watch out!"

Suddenly, Sona gasped and tried to push Mahiro away.

Above them, a massive spear of light descended toward Mahiro.

Its size far surpassed anything Mahiro had seen.

The power within the spear of light was enough to flatten the entire area surrounding the church.

But just as the huge spear of light made contact with Mahiro, it disappeared.

"This little trick can't hurt me," Mahiro said calmly.

"Really!"

From above, a voice rang out. Though the words conveyed regret, the speaker's tone was filled with amusement.

The once bright sky darkened, and the moon, which had already appeared, seemed to glow even brighter.

In front, a black figure hovered.

With black hair, black wings, a luxurious black robe, and blood-red eyes that gazed down contemptuously, the figure exuded immense pressure.

This was no ordinary Fallen Angel.

There was no doubt about it was Kokabiel, the mastermind behind this incident.

With a cruel smile, Kokabiel looked at Mahiro and Sona.
