Chapter 142 - Kokabiel's Confidence

"If I remember correctly, this should be the territory of the Gremory Clan."

Jeanne narrowed her eyes, looking in the direction the aura of the holy swords was coming from.

"That guy, Cao Cao, sent me here but told me to stay calm and not attack Devils. I have no idea what he's up to," Jeanne complained to herself.

"However, being here means my family probably wouldn't trouble me."

Thinking of this, Jeanne laughed; the pressure from her family urging her to marry was really suffocating.

"For now, I should still belong to the Church," Jeanne looked again toward the direction.

The fact that she had joined the Hero Faction was still a secret; even her family didn't know about it.

"Let me see what's going on."

Jeanne flew toward the source of the holy sword's aura.

In a certain dark corner of Kuoh Town...

"Oh? The aura of the holy swords."

The black wings on his back receded as Kokabiel slightly raised his eyes, looking in the direction of the holy sword's aura.

"Are they exposing their aura to attract me?"

"It looks like they've prepared a trap for me."

As an veteran who survived the Great War, Kokabiel saw through their intentions at once.

"Valper Galilei, how is the analysis?" Kokabiel was not in a hurry; he withdrew his gaze and looked at a figure.

Wearing a lab coat and having a chubby figure, this was Valper Galilei.

In the past, he led the Holy Sword Project and caused a tragedy in the Church, killing dozens of children.

"The analysis of the holy swords is almost complete," Valper replied.

Beside him stood three stray exorcist holding holy swords.

"Almost? Is it possible to fuse the three holy swords?" Kokabiel asked.

"Three?" Valper said embarrassedly. "According to my research, at least four holy swords are needed for the fusion to be stable."

"If there are fewer, the fusion will be unstable, and the power released during fusion will be too small to achieve the expected effect."

"It's enough to fuse them," Kokabiel nodded. "As for the power of the fusion, it's not important to me."

After the holy swords were fused, the energy released would be enough to turn Kuoh Town into ashes.

However, for someone like Kokabiel, there are many ways to destroy this town.

"Haven't those holy sword wielders been exposed? Can't you go and capture them?" Valper asked.

He was a research fanatic, and this plan involving the holy swords was Kokabiel's.

However, now Kokabiel was making him give up on obtaining the rest of the holy swords.

Flaws in his research were truly unacceptable for a madman like him.

"Those mice from the Church have always been sneaky, but tonight they're so high-profile—they must be working with the Gremory brat," Kokabiel glanced at Valper displeased but explained.

"Otherwise, they wouldn't have the guts to reveal their whereabouts so blatantly."

"Oh? The Maou's sister?" Valper said cautiously.

"Yes, thinking of their hair makes me feel like throwing up," Kokabiel nodded.

"The most important thing is that Gremory brat is the woman of the Red Dragon Emperor."

"Since those mice and the Devils have reached a cooperation, Red Dragon Emperor shouldn't sit idly by."

"Red Dragon Emperor? A troublesome fellow," Valper agreed.

"It's undeniable that the Red Dragon Emperor is quite strong. If I want to snatch the holy swords in front of him, even I will have to put in some effort," Kokabiel said.

"In that case, the projects need to be adjusted," Valper said helplessly.

He really wanted Kokabiel to go and seize the holy swords, but he didn't have the courage or the strength to ask him out.

Even though Kokabiel was explaining patiently, Valper knew in his heart that a kokabiel is using him.

If he really angered Kokabiel, he'd probably be killed directly.

At that time, there would be nowhere to go.

"How much time is required?" Kokabiel asked.

"About twenty hours or so," Valper estimated for a moment and then said.

"Twenty hours? I see," Kokabiel squinted his eyes, glanced in the direction from which the holy sword aura came, then withdrew his gaze and closed his eyes.

Valper instructed those stray exorcists to take the three holy swords into the research lab and began working.

"Hey, Xenovia, is there any movement?" Irina looked at the sky, and found that there was no sign of Kokabiel.

"Looks like we failed," Xenovia looked at Mahiro. "Do you need us to continue?"

"No," Mahiro shook his head. "I didn't expect Kokabiel to be so cautious and indifferent to the holy swords."

In the anime, Kokabiel directly grabbed Irina's holy sword.

The aura of the holy swords has been released for such a long time; if he was going to notice, he would have by now.

With Kokabiel's methods, even if he was on the other side of Kuoh Town, it would only take a moment to come here.

He hasn't come for such a long time. Either he has left Kuoh Town, or he noticed but doesn't plan to come.

Of course, the first possibility is less likely; after all, Kokabiel is a maniac and won't give up until his goal is achieved.

"Maybe he guessed you were here, so he didn't come," Rias guessed.

Irina and Xenovia both put down their holy swords and the aura of the holy swords converged instantly.

"After all, you are Red Dragon Emperor. Even a Fallen Angel Cadre needs to be wary," Xenovia nodded, agreeing with Rias's point of view.

"We still need to find him," Irina sighed.

They had originally thought that with Mahiro, the mission would be easier.

Unexpectedly, Kokabiel didn't plan to show up.

"Eh?"

When everyone was about to leave, Mahiro suddenly looked over.

'Kokabiel didn't come, but someone else did.'
