Chapter 140 - Rias: What Are You Planning To Do With These Two?
Fallen Angels operate at similar times as Devils, mostly coming out at night. It's not that they have a weakness to sunlight like vampires; it's more about staying hidden from the public eye.
After all, to most ordinary people, supernatural creatures are just legends. If they were exposed, it could cause unrest and even affect the balance among the three factions.
Since the Great War, the forces of angels, devils, and fallen angels have heavily relied on the human world to continue their lineages.
If something major happens in the human world, it would greatly impact all three factions.
"After completing the mission, we should be able to contact the church directly and pay off the remaining debt," Irina said, looking at Xenovia with a smug expression.
She felt pretty clever for thinking this through.
Hearing this, Xenovia was already tempted.
Their previous funds had been used up because Irina bought a counterfeit painting. Moreover, due to Irina's carelessness, they lost their IDs and other important documents.
If they wanted to stay in Kuoh Town, their situation would be very difficult.
After all, they're devout Catholics and wouldn't do anything illegal or interfere with ordinary people without a good reason.
Especially with Kokabiel in Kuoh Town—they hadn't found any trace of him yet, and it was still uncertain whether they could complete their mission.
"Alright," Xenovia nodded. Agreeing to Mahiro's request wasn't the best option, but it seemed like the most practical choice for now.
Once they overcame these difficulties, she and Irina, as the Church's holy sword wielders, could easily pay off the remaining debt.
"We agree," Irina said confidently, holding her head high.
"Great, come with us," Mahiro smiled slightly.
These two still needed some guidance, and he was really looking forward to the expressions they'd make when Kokabiel told them the God of the Bible was dead.
After completing the paperwork, Mahiro and Rias took the two out of the police station.
"Darling, what are you planning to do with these two?" Rias asked, walking beside him.
"I'm not sure about Kokabiel's target. But it's probably you or these two holy sword wielders," Mahiro explained.
"Keeping these two idiots by our side—even if we can't lure out Kokabiel, we can keep an eye on them and prevent them from causing trouble in Kuoh Town."
"Are you planning to use us as bait?" Irina asked.
Mahiro and Rias didn't hide their conversation, so the Church duo naturally overheard.
"That's one way to put it," Mahiro nodded.
"So you're still going to interfere with the Holy Sword matter?" Xenovia said with a conflicted expression.
The current situation was a bit different from when they were at Kuoh Academy not long ago. Now that they were under someone else's roof, she'd lost her previous bravado.
"Even if we don't intervene, Kokabiel will probably come after us. And as I said before, this is my territory, and I won't let you or the Fallen Angels cause trouble," Rias said calmly.
"That's true..." Irina hesitated.
"Let's not dwell on that for now. Let's get you something to eat," Mahiro waved his hand.
After leaving the police station, he'd heard their stomachs growling; who knew how long they'd been hungry.
Hearing this, Xenovia and Irina immediately showed grateful expressions.

"Delicious! It's been so long since I've had Japanese food; I didn't expect it to be this good!" Irina exclaimed.
"This is amazing! Irina, the food here reminds me of Sister Griselda's cooking back at the Church," Xenovia added.
At the dinner table, Xenovia and Irina devoured the food, chatting between bites.
Faced with a table full of dishes, the two had completely lost their composure. Their so-called restraint had vanished, replaced by sheer hunger as they turned into big eaters.
Under the surprised gazes of the restaurant staff, Irina and Xenovia finally cleaned up all the food on the table.
"This is so embarrassing! Being saved by devils—I think the end of the world is coming!" Xenovia's expression suddenly turned gloomy.
"Oh Lord! I've sold my soul to a devil! Please don't blame us; it's all for our faith!" Irina clasped her hands and closed her eyes in prayer.
"You two, did you forget that we just rescued you from the police station?" Rias said, rubbing her temples. "Don't you think it's a bit late to be saying that now?"
"Eh? Oh, right. Sorry, the food was so good I forgot," Irina said sheepishly, her guilt evaporating as she stuck out her tongue playfully.
"Me too," Xenovia added, embarrassed.
"Alright, let me ask you something. Since you arrived in Kuoh Town, have you tried unleashing the aura of your holy swords to lure out Kokabiel?" Mahiro asked.
"Never thought about it," Xenovia shook her head.
"Kokabiel is too strong, and if we confront him head-on, our chances of winning are slim," Irina explained.
"So our plan was to find the stolen holy swords first. If we could retrieve them without alerting Kokabiel, that would be ideal. If not, our last resort was to destroy them."
"Hmm, that approach makes sense," Mahiro narrowed his eyes. It would be best if they could lure out Kokabiel as quickly as possible.
"I'm not sure, but if we release the holy sword's aura, it would certainly make us stand out," Xenovia nodded.
"Are you suggesting that Xenovia and I release the holy sword's aura?" Irina asked, looking at Mahiro suspiciously.
