Chapter 130 - Koneko's Determination
"People from the Church?"
Rias's face turned worried instantly. She quickly walked over to Asia and Koneko, looking them over carefully before asking, "Are you both okay? Did they hurt you?"
The Church, an organization under the Angels, has always been at odds with devils, with the hostility going back to ancient times.
After the Great War hundreds of years ago, this tension only got worse.
If it weren't for the aftermath of the war and the need for supernatural beings to stay hidden, clashes between the Church and devils would still be common.
"We're fine, President," Koneko replied, shaking her head.
"What happened, Koneko? You and Asia were out shopping with friends, right? How did you run into members of the Church?" Akeno asked.
"Yeah, Akeno-senpai," Koneko confirmed.
She explained that while she and Asia were out shopping, they ran into two Church members wearing strange clothes.
The Church members recognized Koneko, which led to a brief confrontation. No fighting, but some harsh words were exchanged.
"What did they look like?" Mahiro asked.
"One had short blue hair, and the other had blonde hair. They seemed around our age," Koneko said after thinking for a moment. "Oh, and the blue-haired girl had a weapon wrapped in cloth. It looked like a sword."
"Still, I could feel a strong aura from it. It made me uncomfortable."
"If I had to guess, that weapon is probably a Holy Sword," Mahiro thought aloud.
Based on Koneko's description, the Church members were likely Xenovia and Irina.
Mahiro considered the situation further.
He had just dealt with the Fallen Angels, and now Holy Sword wielders were here. If he was right, the next issue would be with Kokabiel.
He thought these events would take longer to happen, but everything was moving much faster than he expected.
Was this because of something he did?
First Cao Cao, now the Holy Sword wielders—everything was happening so quickly. Or maybe it was just fate? Either way, they would handle it.
"Holy Swords?" Akeno repeated, surprised.
"You met two Church members with Holy Swords? Those are important people in the Church," Rias frowned but trusted Mahiro's words. "Why would they suddenly come to Kuoh Town?"
"I don't know," Koneko said, shaking her head. "They seemed like they were here on important business, but they didn't say much."
"They did mention they'd be visiting Kuoh Academy tomorrow to meet you, President."
"They're coming to meet me?" Rias frowned again. "They must have something important to discuss."
Entering enemy territory.
Nowadays, both sides tried to avoid open conflict whenever possible.
But now, members of the Church were coming into Gremory territory to meet her, a devil.
This was definitely unusual.
"Whatever it is, it's probably not good news," Akeno sighed, glancing at Mahiro.
"Is Kuoh Town some kind of magnet for big names? We've got Holy Sword wielders from the Church, the Red Dragon Emperor, a Longinus user—Dimension Lost and the True Longinus," Akeno continued.
"Each one is more dangerous than the last. And now, they've all shown up in Kuoh Town within a short time. Makes you wonder what's drawing them here," she said.
"Whether it's something big or not, we've got more trouble on our hands," Rias sighed.
"Asia, you've been quiet. Are you okay?" Mahiro asked, looking at her.
"No... I'm fine, just a bit tired," Asia murmured, head down.
After hearing Mahiro's words, she forced a smile, lifting her head.
But her eyes, usually full of life, looked dull.
Her sweet face, normally bright with a cheerful smile, seemed lifeless.
"Something happened, didn't it, Koneko?" Mahiro asked with a sigh.
Koneko wasn't the type to speak openly, but her attitude showed something was wrong.
"Those Church members called Asia a witch. They said being with devils was a betrayal of her faith. They even said she deserved to die," Koneko said angrily. "They said a lot of awful things!"
"What?! How dare they talk to my friend like that!" Rias's expression turned furious.
"They don't seem like people you could get along with easily," Akeno added, narrowing her eyes.
"In that case, we'll need to 'welcome' these guests properly tomorrow," Rias said with a dangerous glint in her eyes.
These Church members had entered her territory and insulted her friend.
"What should we do? They're part of the Church. Should we have the police lock them up for a few days as dangerous individuals?" Mahiro asked with a smirk.
Rias's eyes brightened as she considered the idea.
She wanted to teach them a lesson, but a direct conflict with the Church could escalate into a bigger issue between the factions.
But using human authorities to give these Church members a small punishment? That could work.
"Mahiro-kun, you're terrible!" Akeno teased with a grin.
"I didn't say anything," Mahiro shrugged, sitting beside Asia.
"Mahiro-kun, do you think I don't deserve the life I have now?" Asia asked quietly, her voice tinged with sadness as she noticed Mahiro sitting down next to her.
"I don't know what exactly happened in the past, Asia," Mahiro said softly, pulling her into a gentle hug.
The simple gesture seemed to snap her out of her sadness. Her expression became flustered, and with a faint blush, she started to cheer up.
She glanced up at him but didn't pull away.
