Chapter 127 - My Name's Cao Cao
On the bustling shopping street, a young man dressed completely differently from everyone else suddenly appeared, stopping five meters in front of Mahiro.
As he showed up, an unusual mist filled the area, making it seem like the whole space was covered in grayscale.
As the fog spread, the surroundings began to change. The busy shopping district suddenly went silent. The people and buildings vanished, swallowed by the mist.
"Is this... a different space?" Rias and Akeno tensed up.
"He managed to pull us into another space without us noticing," Rias said cautiously.
"This ability is really strange," Akeno added.
"Nice to meet you, Red Dragon Emperor," the young man greeted Mahiro with a polite smile.
"And you are?" Mahiro frowned, eyeing the young man. His attire looked familiar, but he couldn't place it.
"I haven't introduced myself," the young man said apologetically. "My name is Cao Cao."
"Cao Cao?" Mahiro connected the dots. "Isn't he the leader of the Hero Faction?" he thought. "He's showing up already? In the anime, he was supposed to appear later. Why is he here now?"
But Mahiro wasn't too surprised. The storyline was just that—a storyline—and his actions had already changed it. Unexpected things were bound to happen.
"That name... it's from a powerful figure in the Three Kingdoms era," Akeno said.
"With a name like that..." Rias frowned.
"My ancestor was indeed a hero from history. I'm just a descendant who inherited his name," Cao Cao explained.
"Quite the big deal," Rias sneered.
The guy had suddenly appeared, blocking their way, and used some weird method to transport them without them noticing. Definitely not good.
"Compared to you all, it's not worth mentioning," Cao Cao said, though his eyes lacked humility.
Indeed, if he was just a descendant of Cao Cao, he was inferior to Rias and Akeno's lineage.
"So, what do you want?" Mahiro asked flatly.
Cao Cao—the wielder of the strongest Longinus, the True Longinus. He had strength comparable to a Satan; even Azazel had suffered against him.
Plus, the mist around them was likely caused by the Longinus "Dimension Lost." In other words, there were at least two Longinus wielders present.
In the anime, Cao Cao was part of the Khaos Brigade and one of the most dangerous characters. But Mahiro wasn't worried. If he had to fight, he wasn't afraid, even if they had two Longinus users.
His only concern was Rias and Akeno.
"I heard about your feats and wanted to pay you a visit," Cao Cao said with a light smile.
"I didn't know this was how people usually meet. Are you sure you're not here to cause trouble?" Mahiro eyed him.
"I had no choice. My identity is a bit special, so I needed to meet you in a special way. Please forgive me," Cao Cao replied.
"So, what's next? You went to all this trouble; it can't be just to say hello," Mahiro said indifferently.
"As expected of the Red Dragon Emperor," Cao Cao smiled. "I've formed a team of descendants of heroes, and I'd like to invite you to join us."
Mahiro didn't expect Cao Cao to invite him to the Hero Faction.
"I'm not a descendant of a hero; you might be disappointed," Mahiro shook his head.
"Our team isn't just descendants of heroes but also humans with the potential to become heroes," Cao Cao said calmly.
"In my view, the Red Dragon Emperor who defeated Riser Phenex in one blow without using Longinus—such aptitude rivals the great heroes of old."
"Thanks for the compliment," Mahiro said lightly, "but I'm not interested in your team."
"Deciding so quickly—isn't that hasty?" Cao Cao narrowed his eyes.
"Some things don't require much thought," Mahiro responded coolly.
Hearing Mahiro's blunt refusal, Cao Cao's expression turned cold.
Being a descendant of Cao Cao, he had the attitude of someone who didn't tolerate disobedience.
"What, planning to fight me here?" Mahiro shrugged.
He was curious to see how powerful Boosted Gear paired with Apollon was.
Even if they had two Longinus users, he wasn't too worried. But he didn't want to use it unless necessary.
Besides, he wasn't sure he could keep Cao Cao here. With "Dimension Lost," Cao Cao could escape easily.
Cao Cao stared at Mahiro but then calmed down. "If I intended to use force, what would you do?"
Suddenly, Cao Cao's aura erupted, and a powerful pressure spread out.
"Maybe I'd kill you right here," Mahiro said coldly.
"You're as strong as I thought." After a moment, Cao Cao withdrew his aura and said, "I just wanted to meet you this time. Sorry for any rudeness."
Mahiro chuckled lightly, neither accepting nor rejecting the apology.
"I sincerely hope you'll consider joining us," Cao Cao continued. "We've gathered many like-minded people. Besides me, many descendants of heroes have joined."
"I can't reveal their identities now, but you'd be surprised."
"Trying to mimic your ancestor and gather talents?" Mahiro shook his head. "Unfortunately, I don't see a leader's charisma in you."
"Besides, a small Hero Faction can't contain me."
"Oh, I didn't expect you to know about us," Cao Cao was surprised. "You're more mysterious than I thought."
He looked at Mahiro, pondering his next move.
"Let's leave it at that for today." Finally, Cao Cao decided not to push it. "But I believe you'll choose to join us in the end."
"After all, you are human."
With that, Cao Cao's figure faded away, wrapped in mist, and disappeared before them.
After he left, the fog dissipated quickly. They found themselves back on the street, the lively sounds returning. People around didn't notice anything unusual.
