Chapter 113 - Ravel Phenex

Chapter 113 - Ravel Phenex

"Hey, human, what are you doing here?"

Ravel showed up at the playground with her group of peerage members and, spotting Mahiro, questioned him directly.

Mahiro glanced at her briefly before looking away, choosing to ignore her.

"Hey! I'm talking to you, human. Didn't you hear me?"

When Mahiro didn't respond, Ravel snorted, clearly annoyed.

But he still couldn't be bothered to acknowledge her.

"You're ignoring me?"

Ravel felt a surge of anger. As a proud lady, she'd never been treated with such disregard. Her family always held her in the highest esteem.

Now, being ignored by a mere human really pissed her off.

"Yeah, and so what?" Mahiro replied casually without even glancing at her.

Ravel was taken aback. They were enemies, and this wasn't exactly the place for friendly chit-chat.

The only reason they hadn't started fighting yet was because the game hadn't officially begun.

But Ravel couldn't help but be curious about Mahiro. Despite being human, he probably had the power of a High-Class.

Even though he was human, he had the guts to accept a challenge from the Phenex Clan and fight against her brother.

Especially now... The smart move would've been to hide and wait for the right moment.

Yet, Mahiro stood openly on the playground, not giving a damn.

To most people, his actions seemed irrational, even downright stupid.

But he did it all without hesitation.

"Ravel-sama, there's no need to waste time talking to this human. The game's about to start, and in a few minutes, this guy will be history," Isabela spoke up from the side.

"Yeah, you're right, Isabela."

Ravel nodded. They were on opposing sides, and since he didn't show her the respect she was used to, there was no point in wasting time if she couldn't get the answers she wanted.

"Hey, human, the game's about to start. I'll pretend I didn't see you, so you'd better go hide."

She was about to leave but gave Mahiro a warning before she did.

Mahiro found it odd, glanced at the blonde girl, and suddenly laughed.

"What's so funny, human?"

Ravel was baffled by his sudden laughter. She couldn't figure out what he found so amusing.

"Nice to meet You, Ravel Phenex."

"I'm Mahiro Toma," he stated, then added, "But I guess this introduction is kinda pointless. You probably already know my name, right?"

His info should've been on Riser's table by last night at the latest.

"Oh, a mere human knowing my name? I'm almost impressed," Ravel said arrogantly. "But why should I care about your name?"

"It's not too late to know now," Mahiro replied. "I'll even let you call me by my name."

Ravel felt that continuing to talk with this human would only lead to frustration. He had zero respect for nobility.

Allow her to call his name?

Shouldn't she be the one saying that?

Who's the noble here?

"Whatever! Who cares!" she huffed in displeasure.

Mahiro chuckled and shook his head. Her earlier comment about letting him leave had made quite an impression on him.

In the end, she was just girl without much depth in her thoughts.

"Why haven't you left yet? You don't have much time to prepare," Ravel reminded him.

"What the hell do I need to prepare?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

She was left speechless by his attitude.

"You're the most arrogant human I've ever seen. And you're so careless against our Phenex Clan," she said unhappily.

"If you guys were up against a Low-Class Devil, would you be cautious?" Mahiro shot back.

"What?" Ravel looked at him like he'd lost his mind, then said contemptuously, "To deal with a mere Low-Class? We'd crush them without a second thought. Why would we need to be cautious?"

Mahiro nodded, giving her a look that said, "Exactly," then went back to being calm.

She was initially puzzled. She couldn't figure out why he'd brought up that example, but after a moment, something felt off. She thought about it but couldn't quite put her finger on it.

"Ravel-sama, this human is comparing us to a Low-Class," Isabela whispered.

Ravel, who had been confused, immediately caught on. She pointed at Mahiro angrily and shouted, "You dare compare us to a mere Low-Class? Don't bullshit us, human!"

Mahiro shrugged. "I'm just stating a fact."

"You're too damn arrogant," she said, feeling slighted as she clenched her fists. "When the game starts, I'll show you how strong our peerage is and make you regret what you just said."

Seeing her reaction, Mahiro smiled.

It wasn't a mocking smile; he just found the contrast amusing. Ravel's current behavior didn't match her appearance at all.

"Ugh, what an unpleasant human," she snorted in displeasure but then remembered she had come here to ask him a few questions, not to argue.

"Why did you agree to a showdown with us?" she asked suddenly.

"Shouldn't you be asking yourself that?" he responded.

Ravel felt a bit awkward, knowing that the Phenex Clan wasn't going to let him off easily.

"Actually, someone asked me a similar question before," Mahiro finally replied. "Because You're too weak!"
