Chapter 109 - Satan Lucifer

Chapter 109 - Satan Lucifer

Underworld, Satan's Territory.

"What's the status, Grayfia? How's Rias doing?" Sirzechs asked, leaning against his desk, resting his chin on his hands, and giving her a small smile.

"I passed on your message," Grayfia responded, standing in the center of the room, looking sharp and serious. "Both sides agreed to settle it with a Rating Game."

"This was my father's idea. Might seem a bit unfair to Rias, but it's the only way to keep things peaceful," Sirzechs sighed, nodding.

As Satan Lucifer, he could've shut this whole mess down with a single order, but his position didn't allow for that.

Ever since Sirzechs took on the title of Satan, he had to put some distance between himself and the Gremory Clan, even changing his name from Sirzechs Gremory to Sirzechs Lucifer.

As Satan, he had to play things fair, or risk pissing off the other nobles, even when it came to his own family, the Gremory Clan. And honestly, this time, it looked like the Gremory side had screwed up.

"But, Sirzechs-sama, the ones actually facing off won't be Rias and Riser, but that human boy and Riser," Grayfia added.

"Wait, what? What happened? Tell me everything," Sirzechs asked, genuinely surprised but clearly intrigued.

This was a curveball. In his head, it was supposed to be Rias and Riser fighting, with the human boy either watching or fighting as part of Rias's peerage. He didn't expect this.

Still, as Satan, very little truly surprised him--this was just a mild interest.

"Here's what went down..." Grayfia started, recounting what had just happened at ORC.

Three minutes later, she finished.

"I didn't think Riser would be such a stubborn bastard," Sirzechs sighed. "But it sounds like he's a little scared of Mahiro, which is why he pulled this move, dropping all that noble bullshit."

Devils were supposed to keep their cool, beat their opponents with class, and restore their dignity. For Riser to throw that out the window just to deal with a human seemed weak.

"Grayfia, what did you think of that kid?" Sirzechs asked.

He knew Riser's strength well enough. He also had some basic info about Mahiro, brought to his attention just the night before. Based on that, Mahiro should have zero chance against Riser--especially against Riser and his peerage. It seemed like a suicide match.

Was this just youthful stupidity driving him to say yes?

"Personality-wise, he's more level-headed than most his age, and he thinks things through long-term," Grayfia explained. "For a human, his strength is off the charts. You could even call him a genius."

"Oh? Didn't think you'd give him that much credit," Sirzechs said, surprised. Grayfia was usually tough with her opinions, so this was a big deal.

"If nothing else, Mahiro fits Rias better than Riser," Grayfia agreed.

She had tested Mahiro with her own aura, even if just for a second. The fact that he didn't even flinch earned him her respect.

"Seems like Mahiro isn't just acting on impulse," Sirzechs mused with a grin.

"From my point of view, he's not impulsive. If he accepted this fight with Riser, he must believe he's got a shot," Grayfia said.

"By the way, Grayfia, how did he respond to the message I asked you to give him?" Sirzechs asked, remembering something.

"His exact words were, 'I'm not going to give up, and I'll become Gremory's son-in-law,'" Grayfia said, quoting Mahiro word for word.

"Hahaha, bold as hell," Sirzechs laughed. "Seems like Rias has better taste than her dad."

"Well, she is your sister," Grayfia responded with a slight smile.

"Grayfia, keep a close eye on the fight between Riser and Mahiro. Make sure no one dies," Sirzechs instructed after thinking for a bit.

"Are you planning to step in?" Grayfia asked, surprised.

"Only to prevent any major accidents in the Rating Game. That's in the rules, right?" Sirzechs answered with a smile.

Mahiro was Rias's choice, so naturally, Sirzechs, as her brother, felt like he had to help a little. Even if the Phenex Clan found out, what were they gonna do? Accuse Satan Lucifer? He'd just be following protocol.

Sirzechs, who had already screwed up by letting his sister get betrothed to someone she didn't want, wasn't going to let the guy she actually chose die at the hands of Riser.

"Understood. I'll take care of it," Grayfia said, bowing slightly before leaving the office.
