Chapter 103 - Who's the Devil?
"Bluff!"
Riser snorted.
Even though Mahiro's words made him a bit cautious, Riser wasn't going to show any weakness. The guy had already stolen his fiancée--if he backed down now, he'd be a joke.
He came here to wipe away the humiliation, and he wasn't about to signal retreat.
"But you believe it, don't you?" Mahiro said, sounding casual.
"FUCK!"
Riser's eyes narrowed. This guy had no shame.
Why couldn't he just shut the fuck up?
Did he really need to blurt out everything to make him look bad?
Riser's murderous intent spiked, his tone even icier. "If you were trying to waste time, congrats. You did it. But that's it."
"The only reason you're still breathing is because I've let you."
"I never saw it that way," Mahiro shrugged. "You just talk too much."
"Humph."
Riser's anger flared up again. Mahiro's gaze was like saying, "Can you even call yourself a devil?"
"Your time's up. Even as a Devil, I can't stand a lowly human provoking me again and again."
Riser pretended to sigh. "But hey, be grateful for my mercy. I won't deal with you personally. You're beneath me. Other than your big mouth, there's nothing worth noticing about you."
"If I dealt with you myself, it'd only hurt my reputation."
Riser waved him off.
"I'll let my peerage handle you."
His gaze shifted to a petite girl from his peerage.
"Mira, deal with this human."
"Riser!"
Rias glared at him, her eyes full of anger.
"Rias, you gonna let me handle this?"
Riser looked at her like she was beneath him, then glanced at Akeno and the others. "Or are you planning to go to war with me here?"
"I'm down for that, actually."
Riser's eyes were dead serious. "But do you really think your peerage can go toe-to-toe with mine? Or that this school can handle us tearing each other apart?"
His words were a clear threat.
Mahiro patted Rias on the shoulder.
"It's fine."
Rias didn't hesitate. She got the message and stepped aside.
She trusted Mahiro's strength.
That was enough for now.
"Not bad, human. Seems like you're not just talk--you've got some guts."
The blonde girl in the light purple dress eyed Mahiro curiously.
That was Ravel Phenex, Riser's little sister.
Riser rolled his eyes at her. Was this really the time to admire the enemy?
"Mira, teach this human a lesson," Riser barked.
"Yes, Riser-sama."
A girl dressed like a ronin from the Edo period stepped up, holding a staff.
Mira got into her stance, looking at Mahiro like he was just an object.
Mahiro glanced at Riser with a smirk. The third son of the Phenex Clan was cautious, as expected.
But instead of doing the dirty work himself, Riser hid behind the bullshit of "noble decorum," letting his lackeys fight for him.
Smart move--he could test Mahiro's strength without risking anything.
Two birds with one stone.
Mira launched herself forward, a gust of wind trailing behind her as she closed in fast.
Just as she was about to hit him with her staff, she lost sight of Mahiro completely, everything going blurry.
BOOM--!
A huge force slammed into her gut, sending Mira flying into the wall.
COUGH--!
She slid down, coughing up blood.
"Mira!"
"Human, how dare you!"
"You took her out with one hit?"
Riser's peerage glared at Mahiro, some ready to jump in.
BANG--!
Mahiro moved again, taking out another opponent with barely any effort.
"Who's next?"
Mahiro's cold eyes locked onto Riser.
Riser was shocked.
He didn't expect Mahiro to be this strong, let alone bold enough to think about attacking him directly.
Who's the Devil and who's the human now?
Isn't this human a bit too fucking strong?
"Bold!"
"Human, you better not think about laying a finger on Riser-sama!"
Before Mahiro could move, Riser's peerage members were already standing in front of him.
"Perfect. Come at me all at once--dealing with you one by one is a waste of my time."
Mahiro said calmly.
"Just because you beat two of my pawns, you think you're strong? Human."
Riser scoffed. "If you're with Rias, you should know pawns are the weakest pieces in a peerage."
"So that's why you're hiding?"
"Because of them?"
Mahiro glanced at Riser, his eyes calm but clearly mocking.
"Hiding? A mere human doesn't scare me."
Riser sneered, "But I'll admit, you've surprised me."
Taking out two Middle-Class Devils with one hit, Mahiro's strength was at least at the peak of Middle-Class, if not already High-Class.
What made it worse was that Mahiro still wasn't showing his full power.
Riser couldn't read him, and that only pissed him off more.
Suddenly, Riser wasn't as eager to fight.
"But human, you're still not strong enough to talk big in front of me!"
Riser grinned darkly. "You want a group fight? I'll give you one."
In an instant, the air thickened with demonic energy.
A magic circle appeared in the middle of the room and a powerful aura filled the entire club, engulfing everyone in the room.
