That was when a lady entered his line of sight. Due to his blurry vision, he couldn't see much.
He blinked, trying to see clearer. Who knew the grim reaper was a lady?
The woman bent down in front of him, placed a hand on the knife wounds on his stomach and the world paused.
Woosh!
Ezra's vision turned clear as if he had been pulled back from the road to the afterlife.
He looked up to see the woman smiling down at him and couldn't help but shiver.
The smile wasn't exactly what one would call friendly and it put what looked like fangs on display.
If he had any doubts that she was the grim reaper, it disappeared.
The woman's hair was as dark as the shadows, framing a face with a beauty that was out of this world.
With eyes as red as blood and full sensual lips, she was like every man's wet dream. Coupled with her fangs, she looked like the devil.
Dressed in a tight, low-cut gown, every curve of her voluptuous figure was highlighted.
Ezra's eyes drifted down to her breasts. There was no way they were real. They were the kind of breasts wars were fought for. In fact, people would move heaven and earth just to grope them for a few seconds.
"Am I going to heaven or hell?" He blurted out without thinking. "Because you're kinda sending mixed messages here."
"No, Ezra Matten." The grim reaper stared at him with a serious expression. "You will be going to neither heaven nor earth. It isn't your time to die."
Ezra blinked at her, looked down at his bleeding stomach and looked up at her again.
Was she a doctor?
"My name is Olivia and I am your redemption." The grim reaper- no, Olivia smiled coldly. It was oddly beautiful. "Choose now. Death or an eternity with me?"
"You'll save me?" He asked, glancing down at his wounds. He was still bleeding out but somehow, he wasn't dying.
"Yes. All you need to do is be with me forever."
Ezra's eyes narrowed. Even on the brink of death, his mind worked to tell him that nothing was ever free.
Why would she come to him specifically to marry her? Something was not right.
"What's the catch?" He asked.
Olivia blinked as if she had not been expecting the question.
Maybe she hadn't because what able bodied man in their right mind wouldn't accept spending eternity with a smoking hot beauty like this?
"You don't get to ask questions, Ezra Matten. This is your one chance to live after death. Will you take it… or leave it?"
Ezra knew the only answer to this question. Olivia was the one in a position of power and the alternative was death.
"Very well." He nodded. "I choose to live."
"Good choice." Olivia nodded before producing a perfectly typed twenty-one paged official document. "Sign here."
"Sign? You never said anything about signing." Ezra grabbed the document from Olivia's hands. He was a lawyer. He knew better than to sign just anything. "What happens if I sign?"
He scanned the document himself to see different clauses such as a blood clause, a secrecy clause, a marriage clause and even clauses on… vitality creation?
What he was reading painted a pretty interesting picture.
He looked up at her. "Are you a vampire?"
Olivia raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow. "What did you think I was?"
"The grim reaper." He said seriously. Only her hand on his stomach was keeping death at bay. Anyone would have made the same mistake.
She stared at him, her red iris spinning lazily in her eyes.
"You've got two options here, Ezra. Option one, you take my offer, I turn you into a vampire and you become mine forever."
"Become yours forever?"
"Yes."
"Can you expand on that?"
Olivia tilted her head, frowning at him. "Is that really important? You're choosing between life and death here."
Ezra could sense that she was hiding something but what could he do? Her offer was better than dying. "Can I take a few minutes to really look through this contract?"
"No." Olivia said. She wasn't even trying to smile anymore. "It's now or never. This is your only chance at cheating death. Will you take it or not?"
Ezra took a few seconds to think about it before deciding. "Where should I sign?"
Olivia flipped to the final page and pointed to the spot. "Here. Just a thumbprint is enough. Use your blood."
Ezra glanced at his wounds. Blood had finally stopped flowing out. He hesitated before dabbing his thumb and reaching out for the document.
"STOP!" A loud voice called out.
Ezra and Olivia's heads snapped to the end of the alley where a lady walked out of the shadows.
With red eyes identical to Olivia's, her white hair fell down to her waist.
As she moved towards them, her every movement radiated sensuality. She was dressed in a very tight crop top that might as well be suffocating her modest breasts to death.
On her tiny waist was a micro skirt so small, it might as well be a figment of the imagination.
Her hips curved like a bend at a formula one racing circuit. Even Ezra who was at death's door could feel himself stirring at her hourglass figure.
If Olivia was the grim reaper, this woman was the goddess of pleasure.
"Don't sign it, Ezra." She said as she walked closer "I'll tell you what it is."
