"I'm glad you asked." X laughed. "Ezra Matten!" He spread out his arms as if he wanted to embrace Ezra from where he stood. "I wanted to say thank you."
"What?" Ezra asked in confusion. Out of everything he'd been expecting, that wasn't it. He eyed X in suspicion. What was he trying to pull?
"I know, right?" X laughed, a carefree sound. "This definitely wasn't what you were expecting. But seriously. I mean it. Thank you."
"I didn't know you would kill him. If I did, I would've helped you. Dude was a bastard. I'm glad he's gone."
Ezra frowned. He still didn't believe X. Who knew if the masked man was lying through his teeth? "I thought you two were close." He said.
"Close?" X scoffed. "Of course not. Y and I were brothers, yes, but only in the most unfortunate sense of the word. The man was insufferable, arrogant and worst of all, he actually enjoyed it!"
"Enjoy what?" Ezra moved closer, his eyes on X. The man wasn't making sense.
