Once I make it outside, I look around to make sure no one is out here with me, crouch down, let the warm night air enter my lungs, and quietly scream "What the fuck" with an exhale.
I stay like this for a minute and stand back up. I cross my arms over my chest feeling a shiver come over me and just stand there with my thoughts for the next several minutes.
I turn around to go back inside and right there in the flesh is the man I have been trying to avoid since I laid eyes on him tonight. He's standing fifteen feet away from me with his hands in his pockets looking at me.
"Millie…" Funny or X, whatever the fuck his name is today, says.
Whatever he was about to continue with is interrupted by the back door opening revealing Ghost, Adria, Penelope (who finally has a shirt on), that guy Slim I think his name is, and a couple of others I haven't seen before coming outside and walking towards X to stand next to him.
I get a quizzical look from about half of them. Penelope goes up to X and snuggles under his arm.
I can just strangle her right now for how vindictive she is.
Adria speaks up full of curiosity "well, well, well and who do we have here?" she emits power just in her stance.
One arm is full of tattoos while the other is bare. Her long black hair is to one side, she's wearing skin-tight jeans and a cropped shirt showing off her stomach.
"Don't waste your time on that one Adria, she's a prude." Ghost says in an offending way.
Every single one of them laughs, even X. They're huddled in a group while I'm standing here on the outside while they laugh at my expense.
I'm overwhelmed with humiliation, and fuck X for joining in, he's the snake everyone told me that he is.
Adria lifts a perfectly shaped eyebrow and looks me dead in the eye and says "I'm always up for a challenge."
Ghost shrugs his shoulders and takes a sip of his drink.
Adria walks over to me with a strut in her step and I'm frozen as she approaches me.
Everyone is watching the show with curiosity about what she'll do next. I'm shocked when reaches me and starts kissing my neck. I look to X who is now staring at me, and then Adria slowly moves her tongue from my neck to my ear and bites on the lobe. I'm feeling extremely uncomfortable by all of this and what she says next makes my blood run cold.
"Look at my man one more time and I'll make sure those weird little eyes of yours can't see again."
I'm stunned, I break eye contact with X and look down at my feet.
"Are we clear?" her tone is threatening.
I give a weak nod and move away from her touch. I ignore the fact that there's a group of people staring at me as I walk past them. I feel his gaze on me but pretend that I don't.
I open the door to the club and hear them laughing again as I walk through and into the club to escape this nightmare.
I need to find Steph. I need to get out of here right now.
I look everywhere but can't find her, after minutes of searching I spot Alina so I make my way to her, bumping into people as I go.
"Hey honey, everything okay?" Alina asks when I approach her.
"Not really, I'm going to head back to the room but I can't find Steph anywhere, can you tell her I left if you see her?" I ask.
She rubs my arm in a comforting way and says "Of course".
I wave her off and leave the club.
I practically run to the elevator not caring if I look stupid anymore, I'm way past that point now. Once it opens, I get inside, wait for the doors to close, and let a stream of tears run down my face.
The doors reopen to my destination, I wipe my face clearing away salty tears just in case anyone is lingering in the hallway. Luckily, it's just me when I walk down the hall, I unlock the front door of the suite and let myself in.
I immediately walk into the bedroom and pull out my backpack stuffing things in it. I don't care what I have to do, I'm leaving first thing in the morning. I'll search for cheap motels and figure the rest out as it comes.
After about fifteen minutes of frantically stuffing things in bags, I hear the front door open.
"Steph, I'm in here!" I shout.
I need to tell her my plan and hope she understands.
The bedroom door opens and to my utter surprise, it's not Steph who walks through the door.
I'm completely frozen by the man who stands before me.
"How did you get in here?" I ask in surprise.
"I kinda own the place.." X says shrugging his shoulders.
"Shouldn't you be at the party with Penelope on your lap and your group beside you making fun of me?" I say with attitude.
He lets out a deep breath and says "Sorry about that."
I shake my head writing him off.
"And I wouldn't be expecting Stephanie any time soon," he adds.
How would he even know that? Did he plan it that way? Is he planning to hurt me after all the shit I stirred with him and keeping Steph locked up somewhere?
I'm starting to spiral my thoughts and freak out.
"What do you mean?" I ask warily.
"She's staying with Julian tonight," he says dryly.
"Is she okay?" I ask just as weary as my last question.
He chuckles "Yes Millie, she's fine."
I grab a couple more items and stuff them into my backpack while he just stands there in the doorway with his arms crossed. I really don't want to be anywhere near him right now or ever again for that matter. He tricked me into thinking he was someone he's not and then had the audacity to laugh at me like a prick with his friends after I opened up to him last night.
I turn away from him and act like he's not there.
"What are you doing?" he asks in a more curious tone.
I keep myself turned away and say "Look, first of all, I'm sincerely sorry for insulting you time and time again, I had no idea who you really were. Secondly, I shouldn't have even opened my mouth to you Saturday night or any other night since. I shouldn't have come here in the first place it was a stupid idea on my part. And third, I've pissed off your girlfriend and…" he stops me from continuing my rant.
"And we're counting again…" he says annoyed.
I shake my head and don't look his way keeping my back turned to him.
"Fine, in a nutshell, I'm leaving in the morning. I don't want any trouble with anyone here. I'll save you the mess, you can keep the gun that's in the back of your pants where it is because I'm going to just die of humiliation anyway." I say matter of fact.
He walks over and sits on the side of the bed where I'm standing off to the side rummaging through my backpack looking for nothing but just wanting to keep my hands busy.
He's looking at me but I don't dare look at him, I keep my head down.
"How do you know I have a gun on me?" he asks curiously.
"My dad was a cop" I whisper. "I know guns well and how to spot them." I continue with my whisper.
He nods, "Interesting."
He takes my hand out of my backpack and my skin instantly heats up just like it did the night before.
"Don't go," he says sincerely.
I finally look into his eyes with confusion. He recovers the weaknesses he just showed by clearing his throat and letting go of my hand.
"I mean, it's like you said, you can't afford to stay at a motel for a month."
I shake my head and look down again "I'll figure it out" I say.
"Why? Because you found out who I am? Yesterday you were willing to meet up with me, talk and insult me, and now you're scared of me?" he says in almost one breath.
I look up at him again, "Yesterday was yesterday, and today, you're a man I need to stay away from for more reasons than one."
He furrows his eyebrows and says "I'm listening…give it to me straight."
I groan and look up at the ceiling. "You're dangerous, and not just because I'm afraid you'll hurt me but everyone else in your group will, whether it's physical or any other way to keep me clear of you or this house. Your girlfriend made that clear tonight. I'm not trying to come in between you or anyone else, I don't belong here X." I explain.
He nods understanding, "You're right, you don't belong here and that's not meant to be a bad thing. Adria is not my girlfriend no matter what anyone says or thinks, yeah, maybe I only have sex with her but that's because I trust her to not stir up unnecessary drama or accusations against me, more than the other girls here, I'm not into relationships. As for you being threatened, it's simply just a threat. No one does anything without me ordering it first or they're out." he says.
I roll my eyes because that's exactly what Adria was doing tonight and he hardly even sees that. He lays himself down on the bed with his arms tucked under his head and his biceps are making me stare. His shirt has risen a bit from extending his arms and it showcases a sliver of his abs. I completely understand why every girl drools over him.
"Why didn't you tell me who you were?" I ask quietly.
He raises an eyebrow and looks up at the ceiling thinking for a second.
"Well…at first I thought you already knew and were just playing stupid to talk to me, but then I realized that you really didn't know, and it was refreshing. It was nice to have someone be real with me, talk shit to me, and not know who I was and tiptoeing around me," he says.
I understand where he's coming from but it doesn't change the fact that I need to stay far away from him.
"Unpack your bags, Millie, it's not a plea it's an order." he says but in a calming way like it is in fact a plead."
"I don't know," I say with uncertainty.
I look at him lying there with a puppy dog face just like Julian's earlier to Steph, "Okay but if something happens again I'm out." I say confidently.
"Deal," he says and sits back up.
His phone starts ringing and picks it up while still looking me in the eyes.
"What is it Tank?" he asks dryly.
"I'll be right there." and he hangs up.
"Duty calls?" I ask.
"Something like that," he replies.
He stands up and walks to the door, but before he walks out he turns back around, looks at me, and then says "And just for the record, the only girl I wanted sitting on my lap tonight was you."
And with that, he leaves.
