Chereads / Hated By The Alpha / Chapter 17 - The witch sister

Chapter 17 - The witch sister

"Let me go," Audrey snapped.

"No." He replied simply, tightening his hold on her slim waist.

Audrey was exasperated.

He was unbelievable. She didn't know how to react anymore.

She couldn't help but wonder if he was bipolar - saying this and doing that, giving hot and cold signals.

She could not believe the man before her was still the same man who acted like a devil towards her, he was still a devil, but it was safe to say he'd toned it down a little bit, probably because he believed she wasn't Audrey and mostly because of the mate bond.

He still hated her, that was an obvious fact, but he tolerated her to some extent; an act he considered a favor to her given that she was just but a useless human.

Remembering the kind of person he is changed her mood instantly.

She turned off the stupid mate bond switch that was messing with her brain, ready to light him up if he still refused to release her.

Seeing as Audrey went quiet all of a sudden, Alpha Lake smirked to himself thinking the mate bond had overwhelmed her and rendered her speechless.

"You're quiet, little kitten. Caving in a..." "Get off me!" Audrey harshly pushed against his chest.

The elevator shook vigorously tearing them apart and the lights instantly went off, plunging them into darkness, but both could see given they were werewolves.

But Audrey needed to make him believe she was scared and couldn't see in the dark.

"Oh my God, we're stuck! I can't breathe! I can't see! What happened?" Audrey dramatically slid down the elevator floor, clutching her chest and breathing heavily.

She needed to do this, if not he would suspect she was responsible for the electrical malfunction.

Alpha Lake was still trying to understand what happened when he saw Audrey breathing heavily on the floor, panic set in immediately, he didn't know what to do, on a normal day an elevator malfunction wouldn't make him break a sweat, but right at that moment, sweat trickled from his head down to the side of his face.

'Was she claustrophobic? Afraid of the dark? Asthmatics?' A lot of ideas ran through his head and at that moment, as sad as it was for him to admit it, he realized he was down bad for the little human before him.

"Are you okay, Catherine?" He asked helplessly and went to squat beside her, but before he could reach her, the lights came back on and the elevator started working again.

"I'm fine, I'm fine." Audrey quickly stood up and moved to the other side of the elevator. She almost shot herself in the foot.

She had no option but to restore the electricity, if not, she would have been engulfed in the arms of her enemy, all in the name of care and support.

And mate-bond.

Alpha Lake watched her scrutinizingly, there had been something weird about her from the moment he first saw her, but he could not help but notice that the weirdness kept increasing as day went by.

He was about to say something when the dinging sound notified them of their arrival.

"Alpha," A huge guy in a red fitted t-shirt stood beside the elevator with his bald head bowed to his Alpha.

'Here we go again.' Alpha Lake just responded with a slight negligible nod that would be missed if you didn't pay attention.

He walked out of the elevator with Audrey following behind and completely ignoring the huge guy.

That was her plan; to ignore every werewolf that was from the Grey Blood Pack, especially those that worked directly for the Alpha.

The huge guy looked at Audrey strangely, something did not sit well about her toward him.

He would mention it to his Alpha after the meeting, he was a security officer after all, and it was his job to prevent Danger from happening if he foresaw it.

"Alpha, Alpha Malachi has been waiting for three hours." The huge guy informed, following behind them.

"He would wait more." Alpha Lake said assertively.

"Yes, Alpha." The huge guy replied.

For some reason, Audrey did not like the name 'Malachi' she felt bitter towards it for no damn reason.

She hoped she wouldn't get to meet him, if she reacted this way to his name, she feared what she would do if she met him.

Audrey slowly lowered herself onto the black chair she had been asked to occupy by the Alpha.

It was a big meeting room, with a big opaque glass table at the center of the room.

Black chairs were neatly arranged around it and people were already seated, the only vacant seats were the ones at the head of the table.

Audrey wondered why the other end of the table was missing a chair, then she realized that it must be the chair that was placed beside the Alpha's chair, then; why did he want her to sit beside him? This was his company, they were enemies and, she knew nothing about this damned meeting.

Was he trying to humiliate her? She felt the scrutiny from their gazes; hostility, curiosity, threat, hate, admiration? She looked beside her from where that feeling came from to see who could possibly admire her in the Grey Blood Pack, and there sat Andrew, beside the Alpha, smiling dreamily at her.

"Hi," She whispered, smiling back at him.

He was about to say something back at her when Alpha Lake cleared his throat, drawing every attention to himself.

"Andrew, let's see what you prepared." Alpha Lake said calmly.

Andrew broke his silent communication with Audrey and stood up, moving over to the projector to display his work.

Audrey paid attention and wrote down everything she heard.

She had known Andrew was cool, but she never knew he was this smart, he just climbed higher in her respect bar. Alpha Lake was pissed.

He had thought that making Andrew give his presentation would break the communication between him and Audrey, but it seems like Andrew was presenting his work to her.

They kept looking at each other and Audrey kept giving him encouraging nods as if she were the CEO, she even went ahead and gave him a thumbs-up.

Andrew finished and walked back to his chair, elated. He was giddy like a kid and he made up his mind to go after Audrey(Catherine), maybe the moon goddess saw how in love he was with Audrey and gave him someone exactly like her.

"I'm sorry, Alpha, but I thought she was dead? How is she here? Is she a witch? Immortal?" A strange girl asked from beside Andrew.

Audrey had not taken cognizance of her before, but now, she looked at her squarely and was marveled by what she saw.

The girl was trying so hard to look like her - like the formal Audrey. It was obvious she used cheap dye on her hair to make it red, and the green contacts she fixed did not fit her at all, she looked like a beat-up version of Annabelle; and, she was on the plus side.

In conclusion; she looked nothing like her.

"Hey, Janeth, mind your words," Andrew warned, but it seemed like his warning only fuelled her up.

"Mind my words!? Haha" She laughed hysterically.

"You think I don't know you have a crush on this bitch, oh and I'll let you in on some secrete, you're not the only one on that boat, even the Alph-ah!!!" She screamed so loud, holding her hands beside her ears as she fell rolling on the floor, pushing her chair down with her as she went.

"Aarghh!!! Make it stop, please!" Janeth screamed like it was her last.

Audrey just sat there, observing quietly. She saw everyone lowering their head from the strong aura emanating from the Alpha.

He was using his power to break her will but because he channeled it only to Janeth, others only felt the heavy Alpha command that was coated with rage.

"Are we done?" Audrey placed her hand on Alpha Lake's lap under the table.

He instantly snapped out of his rage, blinked his wolf away, and turned to Audrey, surprised at how a single touch from her could calm him down, not even a bit of rage was left in him.

"Yes." He replied calmly, placing his palm over her hand that was still resting on his lap.

He liked the feeling, he loved that she took

too initiative to touch him, Regal was over the moon.

He looked over to Janeth who was still crunched over on the floor.

"Take her away, she should never be seen on this territory again."

"Yes, Alpha." Andrew bowed his head to the command.

He wondered why it was always him that had to do the dirty work. He took a deep breath and carried the now-retarded girl out of the meeting room.

"No! No! I'm not the one who should be banished, it's her! It's this bitch, Audrey! It's me who loves you, Alpha. Not her, she's a witch, a bitch!" Janeth shrieked like a banshee.

Audrey slowly withdrew her hand from Alpha Lake's hold. She couldn't help but imagine if this was just the way he had emotionlessly ordered Andrew to dispose of her.

He was still the wicked and heartless Alpha after all. It wasn't as if she was supporting Janeth's actions, but at the end of the day, she was just a girl who had a crush on her Alpha.

But she was unfortunate to like a heartless monster.

'But what were all those comments about Alpha Lake and Andrew having a crush on me? And why was she trying to look like me?' She shook her head, Janeth must have stoned herself to death before coming for the meeting.

"This meeting is adjourned." Alpha Lake announced coldly. He took Audrey's hand and left the baffled audience.

Everyone was speechless, with multiple questions about Audrey running through their mind, but they dared not make a comment, they were not as stupid as Janeth.

"Maverick, send Malachi to my office." Alpha Lake ordered the huge guy who stood beside the door.

"Yes, Alpha."

'Maverick.' Audrey noted.

Audrey was bored, she wanted to go home already, but there she was, sitting on a black sofa, idly scrolling through her iPad.

Alpha Lake sat behind his table, watching her quietly. He wondered why she hadn't questioned him on why everyone called him 'Alpha.'

Did she honestly not care about anything that concerned him? He imagined what could be going on in that little head of hers, he knew she was not comfortable about everyone accusing her of being Audrey, even though he was guilty of that too.

'Knock! Knock!'

A knocking from the door drew his attention from her.

"Come in." He said.

The moment the door opened, Audrey felt it;  the bad energy, the curse flowed in with the cursed, foul, pungent, and rotten smell of decaying matter; and unfortunately, she was very familiar with that smell.

It was black magic, her younger sister's black magic.

Seems like this is where her story gets interesting.

She knew Enissa was reincarnated since the dark witches were still roaming around. Now, her story was about to get clearer.

The two guests had sat in front of the Alpha's table.

"Good afternoon, Alpha. This is my secretary, Enissa. I know you don't like unwanted visitors and I'm sorry for bringing her, but we'll be making a little travel from here so she tagged along, haha" Alpha Malachi explained, trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere.

Audrey didn't like the old man, he talked too much and his curse smelt rotten.

She wondered why her sister had cursed him with infertility. He was oblivious to the curse, of course, poor him.

She watched Enissa who was way older than her now, old enough to be her mother, she reincarnated earlier than she did.

She watched as Enissa smiled seductively at Alpha Lake, her clothes were almost non-existent.

Her black leather skirt was just below her butt, and the plunging v-neck was almost revealing her hard nipples.

She tried to cover up her witch scent because she knew she would be killed the moment any wolve scented her ugly smell, but Audrey could still scent it perfectly.

Her spell was weak.

Audrey rolled her eyes, some things never change, even after centuries.

"Don't worry, Alpha, I won't disturb..."

"Get out." Alpha Lake stated coldly.

"Huh? I..."

"Get out Enissa, don't provoke the Alpha." Alpha Malachi warned sternly.

Enissa grumpily stood up, before she walked out, she sent Audrey a nasty stare before flipping her dark long hair over her shoulder and walking out.

"I'm sorry about my secretary. It won't happen again." Alpha Malachi apologised.

"It won't happen again, Malachi, because, this is the last time you'll be coming to my company." Alpha Lake stated.

Audrey felt the withheld anger from 'Malachi' before he even spoke, he didn't like Alpha Lake's reply.

"I've been requesting this of you for a year now, Alpha. Please reconsider."

"Your records are not clean, Malachi. There's an outstanding case on human trafficking between you and the government." Alpha Lake pushed a file towards him, it was boldly stamped; DECLINED.

"I can't supply arms to someone with your potential. We're done. Leave." Alpha Lake said with a definite tone.

Audrey could still remember the weird connection she felt toward Malachi when he stared at her before leaving the office.

She didn't like it, it gave her goosebumps.

She idly stirred the chicken soup on the stove while her mind raced with different thoughts.

When they came back, she had rushed out of the car and went to the office to drop everything she went out with; she came back to the condo and took a shower, then decided to make some chicken soup for dinner.

She didn't know the whereabouts of the Alpha, he must have gone off to do some Alpha duties.

Just when she was about to dish the soup, she felt his presence in the house, she felt it getting closer till he came into the kitchen and stood right at her back.

She pretended like she wasn't aware of his presence and kept on dishing the soup.

"Are you not curious about today?" He asked.
