"Uh…"
Toshiro was momentarily taken aback by her question. What does she mean by 'Why you?' Besides me, who else would have come all the way to Kirigakure to save you?
As he looked at her cold face and felt the sudden chill in the air, Toshiro couldn't tell if it was from the strong wind or Pakura's icy demeanor.
"In any case, I'm technically your savior. I'm not expecting any grand gestures of gratitude, but…"
Seeing her expression grow colder, Toshiro couldn't help but grumble inwardly. I really shouldn't have meddled this time. I should have just let her die at the hands of the Kiri Ninjas.
What he didn't realize was that Pakura's first reaction upon seeing him was disappointment. The comrades she had hoped would come to her rescue were nowhere to be seen. Rasa, whom she wished might have a change of heart and sent an ANBU from the Suna to save her, had not appeared. Instead, it was this irritating guy. How could that not leave her feeling desolate?
"Hello!"
"What's with this woman? Am I really that bad of a guy to be saved by? Who is she giving that sour expression to?"
As Toshiro watched her expression darken further upon seeing him, he wasn't about to indulge her. Sure, she was beautiful, but she wasn't some naive girl who did not know the realities of the world.
"Right…"
Pakura, lost in her thoughts after realizing that the one who saved her wasn't a comrade from her village, was momentarily absorbed in her own world. It wasn't until Toshiro's words broke through that she snapped back to reality.
She instinctively began to apologize for her earlier attitude, but halfway through, something dawned on her. Her expression grew even darker.
If he's the one who saved me, then what does that mean…
Suppressing the anger building inside her, Pakura softly asked, "Did you alone save me this time?"
"Of course, who else but me would come to save you, idiot!"
Toshiro, oblivious to the shift in her demeanor, continued, "If it weren't for my exceptional medical ninjutsu, you'd be dead by now! With injuries like yours, there are fewer than ten people in the entire ninja world who could have saved you! You should be thanking me properly as your savior!"
"I really should thank you properly," Pakura replied in a tone so calm, it was impossible to discern her emotions.
"Go to hell, pervert…"
Without hesitation, Pakura, ignoring her weakened state, threw a punch directly at Toshiro's face. The force of her attack carried the weight of sworn hatred, as if she intended to kill him.
"Hey! What's gotten into you?"
Toshiro, quick to react, easily dodged her feeble punch, avoiding her strike entirely.
Seeing her hesitation, Toshiro couldn't quite grasp what she was thinking.
"Is it a common trait in Sunagakure to treat your savior like this?"
"Shut up… you're not allowed to mention Suna's name again!"
Toshiro's words seemed to strike a nerve, and Pakura's attacks grew more frantic. However, her weakened body couldn't sustain the effort, and after a few rounds, she was left panting.
As her breathing became labored, Toshiro couldn't help but notice the rise and fall of her chest, which caught his eye. Reflecting on the situation when he had treated her, he finally realized the source of her anger.
When he treated Pakura, her clothes were too damaged to wear, especially since the Kiri Ninjas had primarily targeted her back. The bloodstains made them unwearable, so changing her clothes had been necessary.
Toshiro wasn't a saint, and he had taken a small, perhaps unavoidable, advantage of the situation. However, he had maintained a certain level of professionalism, knowing that her life had been hanging by a thread.
He still couldn't bring himself to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state. At the time, he thought that simply catching a glimpse would make the trip worthwhile.
At the moment, Pakura was wearing just one of his undergarments, which was already loose on her. Given the size difference between them, any larger movement from Pakura threatened to reveal more than she intended.
When wearing a kimono, Toshiro would wear an undergarment beneath it, usually made of silk. This garment served to keep the kimono warm, absorb sweat, and give the collar a fuller appearance. It also prevented the silk from becoming embarrassingly wet.
Now, Pakura was wearing one of these white undergarments, much shorter than the traditional long version, just barely covering her hips. With every movement, more of her figure was revealed, making the scene increasingly provocative.
"Damn bastard!"
Seeing the gleam in Toshiro's eyes, Pakura felt a mix of shyness and frustration, accompanied by waves of dizziness.
She gritted her teeth, frustrated that her weakened body and lack of chakra prevented her from activating her bloodline limit. If she could, she would show him just how much she had grown over the years.
Suddenly, he caught her attempted whip kick to his head, feeling the smoothness of her leg under his palm. Toshiro glanced at her long, elegant legs, their pale skin almost glowing, and couldn't help but notice the way her clothes shifted, revealing hints of what lay beneath.
Her skin, soft and flawless, seemed out of place for someone from the deserts of the Land of Wind—more like a delicate rose blossoming in the desert.
"Let me go!"
She struggled as he held her calf, her face flushing with a deep crimson. Combined with her fierce expression, she had a unique allure that stirred something within Toshiro. The thought that she wore nothing under the white undergarment but a pair of black underwear made the air around him feel hotter.
Especially when he remembered helping her change clothes, the sight of her bare upper body nearly unleashed the beast within him. She was wearing nothing but breast patches...
"I'll kill you!"
Pakura's face was a mix of fury and embarrassment, her emotions running wild. If she had an exploding tag in her hand, she might have seriously considered taking both of them out.
Although Toshiro had saved her, he hadn't sealed her chakra, opting instead to take away her weapons and anything else that could be dangerous.
"Hey, hey, hey! Don't get so worked up! You're still recovering—try to stay calm!"
Noticing her hand instinctively reaching toward her lower back, Toshiro, who knew exactly what that gesture meant, felt a twitch at the corner of his mouth. He decided it was best not to argue with her and instead waited for her to cool down a bit.
Otherwise, he feared her injuries might worsen, and that would only complicate things further.
"Come on, you're not really that delicate, are you?
Seeing Pakura struggling to locate her weapon, her frustration grew, and she suddenly collapsed backward. Toshiro quickly stepped forward, catching her in his arms.
"Thank goodness… she's not unconscious!"
Originally, Pakura had been precariously balanced on one foot, with Toshiro holding her other leg. In her weakened state, she lost her strength momentarily. When she realized she was now cradled in Toshiro's arms, her last bit of clarity slipped away.
Their position was undeniably suggestive—one of Pakura's long legs was still held by Toshiro, while his other arm supported her waist. Her entire body was limp, leaning heavily into his embrace. It was as if she was relying solely on his grip on her calf and the support at her waist to keep from falling.
To an outsider, it might have appeared as if the two were engaged in an intimate dance, like lovers.
Relieved that Pakura was still conscious, Toshiro exhaled deeply. Since she hadn't passed out, there was no immediate danger.
"You… you… bastard!"
