AN : This chapter mostly has rambling about chakra, sage chakea and using it to improve one's body and mind. If you want, you can skip it.
**Several months later**
In Toshiro's home at the Uchiha compound, some unusual sounds emanated from the dojo on the right side of the courtyard. This area, once a clean and empty space for children's practice, had transformed into a cluttered and crowded makeshift laboratory.
Toshiro was in this crowded room, meticulously studying a document in his hand. The room was filled with cages of various sizes, each housing white mice. This old house had now become Toshiro's research institute, and these mice were his experimental subjects. Immersed in his role as a research expert, he pored over his research report with great interest.
...
Since returning from the Forgotten Island, Toshiro has immersed himself in these experiments, striving to successfully use the sage chakra to activate the body. Without any guidance, he had to explore everything slowly on his own. One careless mistake could lead to irreversible consequences, resulting in terrible, unimaginable changes instead of increased strength.
For this experiment, he purchased a large number of mice, dividing them into eight control groups. He divided his sage chakra into eight combinations: fire, wind, lightning, water, earth, yin, yang, and yin-yang. Each attribute group consisted of fifty mice, on which he conducted physical activation experiments. Finally, he ingeniously performed an experiment on the combination of yin and yang sage chakras.
The experimental results were eye-opening for him. He hadn't expected many of the mice activated with the five elemental attributes of the sage chakra to go berserk. According to the data, he surmised that the problem might be due to the mismatch of their inherent attributes. For example, using the wind attribute sage chakra to activate a fire-attribute mouse's body had a probability of causing it to go berserk. When the attributes matched, there was no berserk reaction.
The yin and yang attributes had different effects. The yang attribute significantly increased the size of the mice, with some growing as large as cats, reaching nearly 30 centimeters. This suggested that the yang attribute sage chakra greatly benefited the body, but the mice couldn't control it, resulting in inevitable growth to accommodate more energy. Fortunately, there were no berserk incidents.
Conversely, the yin attribute of the sage chakra didn't alter the mice's size but drastically changed their intelligence. Not only did their daily activity levels increase, but Toshiro also observed that a special mouse began to exhibit curiosity about its surroundings as the yin attribute sage chakra continued to activate its mind.
The berserk subjects exhibited horrific transformations. They didn't just go mad; bizarre tissues grew on their bodies. Some mice developed large tumors on their necks, which slowly grew into another head, identical to the original, resulting in a particularly grotesque appearance.
However, the experiments with Yin and Yang attributes were more promising. Unlike the elemental attributes, these two were relatively mild and didn't cause any berserk incidents. The changes were primarily in physical and mental energy, which was good news for Toshiro. If no better results emerged, he would likely choose one of these two attributes.
The subsequent experiments involved transforming his own sage chakra into Yin and Yang attributes and synthesizing them, hoping for unexpected results. As a transmigrator, he had heard the concept of the Yin and Yang combination countless times. Now, he had the chance to try it himself.
Despite the effort and the materials, the experiments hadn't yielded significant results. He began to doubt his choice.
---
On this day, a member of the Uchiha Guard in a green vest came to Toshiro's house, calling out loudly. The guard's uniforms were similar to the Konoha Chunin vests, distinguished only by the security force logo on the inner base coat.
At that moment, in Toshiro's specially cleared room for experiments, three Toshiros sat cross-legged. He was practicing the body activation he had experimented with for three months, using the Yin-Yang combination plan that had failed countless times.
Despite the failures, an inexplicable stubbornness and memories of his past life supported his persistence. He used the combination of 1:1 Yin and Yang attributes, hoping it would work.
To his surprise, the results were gratifying. With sufficient mental power and control, he began to activate his body. The shadow clones transformed the Yin and Yang attributes, while his main body synthesized and controlled these energies, allowing them to flow and dissipate gradually.
Although it took countless efforts, it was undoubtedly worth it.
Every ninja experiences slightly different results from chakra activation due to their unique talents. However, by the time a ninja reaches Toshiro's age, the methods for enhancing their strength are quite standardized. On one hand, they diligently train in ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu while constantly exercising to increase their physical and spiritual energy, thus boosting their chakra. On the other hand, they increase chakra through diet, rest, and the natural energy released by their cells to target specific enhancements, such as vision, smell, strength, speed, and reflexes.
However, each activation is done sparingly due to the significant energy consumption and the limited availability of chakra. Comprehensive improvement through body activation is unattainable solely with the energy generated by the human body. As a result, most ninjas enhance themselves incrementally based on their immediate needs, leading to slow progress and evident weaknesses that can be easily exploited.
Only Jinchūriki, benefiting from the chakra released by their tailed beasts, achieve substantial enhancements. Successfully cultivating Sage Mode has provided Toshiro with incomparable benefits, freeing him from choosing between enhancing his strength, speed, or reflexes—now, he could have it all.
During his first attempt, with two shadow clones transforming his condensed sage chakra into Yin and Yang attributes and passing them to his main body, Toshiro began activating his body. He carefully mixed these energies, controlling their flow and dissipation through his tendons and nerves.
He experienced an unprecedented sensation, like a long drought meeting sweet rain or dry wood encountering a raging fire. It felt like soaking in a hot spring, a warm feeling enveloping him, reminiscent of being in the womb again as life began to grow slowly. This sensation affected not only his body but also his spirit, which seemed to undergo a baptism, shedding anxiety, irritability, gloom, and other negative emotions, leaving him peaceful and pure.
This feeling occurred because Toshiro had been relentlessly extracting his own cellular energy over the years. Since he began training his chakra six years ago, physical training, shadow clone learning, and ninjutsu practice have consumed his chakra, causing his body and spirit to bear the side effects. Though his body was still growing, he hadn't felt it yet, but once his physical development plateaued, these issues would surface.
With the addition of natural energy, his chakra had increased dramatically, alleviating the strain on his body cells and spirit. The positive feedback was undeniable. Strengthening oneself through an external energy infusion was far superior to relying solely on internal potential.
Looking at his two shadow clones and hearing the shouts outside, Toshiro collected his thoughts and opened the door.
"It's Inahori-san. What brings you here?" Toshiro asked, seeing the visitor.
He knew Uchiha Inahori by reputation. Along with a few others, Inahori was nicknamed "Idiots" of Uchiha by netizens in his previous life. One day, they would confront Itachi, accusing him of murdering Shisui and demanding explanation, only to be quickly defeated by a 13-year-old Itachi using only taijutsu.
"In broad daylight, why are you still at home with the door closed?" Inahori questioned as he entered.
Toshiro rolled his eyes internally but kept his composure. "I'm practicing 'physical activation' and didn't want to be disturbed," he explained.
This was common knowledge among ninjas above Chunin rank. Toshiro had been staggering his patrol time and using shadow clones to maintain appearances, familiar with such tactics from his previous life. As long as there were no unexpected incidents, he could focus on his training.
In his new regimen, except for the unshakable morning meditation, he had stopped weighted running and other physical training. With a more efficient training method, he was freed from endless physical exertion. His current training felt more like a path to immortality—creating shadow clones to help transform the sage chakra and then using his main body to activate his own. By meditating daily, he could enhance his strength effortlessly, although some maintenance training was still necessary.
"Is that so? Never mind then," Inahori replied, dismissing Toshiro's explanation. "Fugaku-sama has a mission for you on the frontlines. Come with me."
With that, Uchiha Inahori spoke to Toshiro in a businesslike tone, indicating the importance of the mission ahead.
