Chapter 1 - 'Ekko Needs His Watch Fixed' by 'Sparta10' <Arcane: League of Legends>

World : Arcane: League of Legends

Crossover : No

Link : https://archiveofourown.org/works/35348395?view_full_work=true

My opinion : One of the best Arcane fanfic for me. Well I mean I haven't read much of Arcane fanfics but still this one is the top on the list. Jinx and every other character's personality is portrayed nicely. You should definitely give it a read.

Words : 49,903

Chapters : 21

Summary : Ekko resets time during the duel with Jinx on the bridge. He doesn't rewind to a few seconds ago but rewinds to a few years ago pulling a very unhappy Jinx with him.

Now not only Ekko but Jinx have been thrown back in time. Ekko with the knowledge of the future and Jinx with the body of Powder.

OR: A time-travel fix-it featuring Ekko and his slightly unhinged partner in crime Jinx/Powder.

Chapter 1 : Ekko

He blinked, it felt different. He didn't smell the salty air that usually accompanied the bridge. Nor did he feel the weight of his preferred weapon but the wooden sword he had crafted out of scraps many years ago. He held a watch, not his watch, but a watch Benzo gave him to tinker with when he was a kid.

He was in the old arcade. He could already picture the old punching machine behind him and the shooting range that would be somewhere to his left.

Ping!

His vision cleared, he was distracted, Ekko glanced down at himself. Surprised by a splotch of pink paint on his scrap metal chestplate rather than a bullet hole.

When he looked up his heart felt like it would force itself out of his chest. In front of him stood Powder. Scrappy clothes and tin pot helmet. He remembered this moment just as he did not even seconds ago. He and Jinx facing off on the bridge with the memories of Powder teasing him flashing in his mind.

That moment was washed away. This wasn't a memory, everything in his mind screamed at him that this was real.

This was not Powder. Gone was Powder's teasing smile and giggles. Standing in front of him was Jinx, her mouth frozen stiff, her eyes wide and looking just as surprised as he was.

One second ago they were ready to kill each other, or atleast Jinx was. Ekko thought he was too but his thoughts were conflicted. Now though, with whatever the hell just happened, his thoughts were scattered.

Jinx though, well, she was used to scattered thoughts. And Ekko suffered for it.

Suffered as much as one would expect from getting punched by an 8 year old girl. Ekko stumbled clutching his nose. It was bleeding but after years of fighting he wasn't about to be caught off guard again even if he had the body of a kid.

He blocked a bony knee from being buried in his gut and retaliated with a vicious swing of his fake sword which caught Jinx across the face, sending her makeshift helmet skidding across the floor. The girl fell and cupped her cheek where a rapidly forming bruise started to show. Ekko pressed, trapping Jinx across the throat with his wooden sword, punching her across the face as she struggled to break his hold.

Although they were both children Ekko had been able to pin Jinx to the floor with his body weight. He raised his fist to smash her face in but he hesitated. Under him was Powder. Her eyes glistened with tears. Her small face was marred with a large bruise and bleeding under the nose. This was Jinx but it was also Powder.

Shit.

"What the hell!" Ekko nearly jumped.

Simultaneously he and Jinx turned to the door of the arcade. It was Vi, but younger of course, his brain was finally catching up. There was also Mylo and Clagger. He would have forgotten their faces if it wasn't for the mural that they painted over the years. That was gone now, along with his home, and his people. But the tree was still there and he would rebuild.

His thoughts hurtled back to the present when his already bruised nose received another blow, this time from Jinx's forehead, who had taken his moment of distraction to counter-attack. Ekko rolled away from Jinx holding his nose again.

Vi rushed by him to check on Jinx while Mylo and Claggor crouched by his side.

Mylo waved a hand in front of his face, the asshole was looking quite amused. Claggor helped him sit up.

"You good little man?" Claggor asked as soon as Ekko was back on his feet.

He only nodded. He saw Vi wipe the blood off of Jinx's face before turning to him, her gaze angry.

"The hell were you guys doing?"

Mylo snorted. "They're kids Vi, fights like this happen."

Vi huffed, shaking her head. "But-"

Mylo cut her off. "We fought all the time when we were kids Vi."

"Enough." Vi turned her angry look to Mylo. "They aren't us, it's Powder and Ekko."

Mylo only shrugged. "They're growing."

Ekko didn't hear Vi's response to that. He was too focused on Jinx, who was looking at the group in front of her like it was the first time she had seen them in years. Or at least it was years since she had seen Mylo and Claggor. He recognized that look on her face. It was the same face he saw when he ambushed Silco's goons on the cargo ship. It was vacant, seeing something that was never there to anyone else. The expression she had before she exploded.

Jinx hopped up and ran. Darting past the still target dummies and out the back door.

"Shit" Vi muttered before turning to Mylo and Claggor. "I'll take her to Vander, you guys get Ekko to Benzo. Let's meet under the bar later."

Claggor nodded. "You got it Vi." Claggor nudged Ekko into walking. "Let's go see Benzo, little man."

Shit. Again. Maybe his head was not all caught up. Benzo. Benzo was dead, but not anymore. Shit. Tears dripped down his face. He felt numb, barely feeling the pat Claggor gave his head.

He tried to control his breathing but at this point it didn't matter.

Every wish of turning back time and changing everything came crashing through his head. They were all alive again.

His tears have dried and his thoughts were still racing when they entered Benzo's shop. His eyes were glued to the ground afraid that if he saw Benzo again he would start crying again.

"What happened?"

Shit. It didn't work.

Benzo's voice brought all those memories back again. Of the shop, of growing up, of better times. The tears came again.

"C'mon kid, let's clean you up." Benzo said to him, softly laying a hand on his shoulder. Ekko couldn't stop himself from burying into Benzo's chest, the tears coming faster and faster. "What happened?" Benzo asked softly again.

Ekko could only shake his head into Benzo's chest. His tears wouldn't stop.

He could feel Benzo's sigh. Whether it may be in disappointment or whatever else, Ekko didn't care.

All that matters is that Benzo was here, warm and alive. Vi was younger, Mylo and Claggor were alive, hell even Jinx came back with him and he couldn't find it in himself to care. He was back, by whatever miracle, magic or something else. He would rebuild his tree, his life, everything. He promised to himself that the mural he so often looked at when he couldn't sleep would have far fewer faces on it than what it had before.

But that was for later.

For now all Ekko could do is close his eyes and hope this feeling never went away again.
