Chapter 2 - Heaven or hell?

"you have no idea how much your father resents your mother. Since you are going to die, I'll tell you a secret." The girl said. She walked to Esmeralda's side and crouched to the ground "the night your mother died. We all stood by her side. It was your father's hand pushing the drip button till the analgesic in her drip overflowed her heart and she died"

Her words acted like knives stabbing Esme's heart. Her eyes grew wet, her chest felt stuffy not from the stick in her lung but from the feeling of hurt and betrayal. She felt betrayed. She felt angry. The heart she once used to love this girl before her was now filled with resentment. Unlike the sky thundering with no rain, her eyes let loose the water it was holding.

"You all would not get away with this. The law would catch up with all of you" she would have said her family would deal with Keisha but then which family? Her father had a new family. She was reduced to a ghost in the house her mother and grandparents built with their sweat. Now if she died, no one would even look for her. They were all in on this after all. All she had left was the law. She could only hope someone somewhere would take up the law against these people.

"Law?" Keisha chuckled, then her chuckle turn into laughter. She laughed so hard Esmeralda thought she had suddenly become a stand up comedian.

"Law?" She stopped laughing and asked again "you think your Galatea family name is all we have? Your family is no where near our backing. We could kill your entire lineage yet the government would fold their hands and say nothing. No one would dare go against the Adler family" She whispered the last line into Esmeralda's ear.

Esme stared at her with a deep gaze. Looking at the young lady, she deeply regretted her past years. How did she not know, she was dealing with a snake?

"Enough talking. I should end your life. Your death is more profitable to me than your life. The mere sight if you erks me" she waved her hand at the guards. Three hefty men walked forward towards Esme sprawled on the floor

She panicked "no_no! Don't touch me!" She yelled still they paid no heed to her words. They lifted her off the floor like a piece of rag. With bloodshot eyes, Esmeralda stared at Keisha. Her hatred for the girl and everyone she had mentioned sprang up from the depths of her heart. If only she had a way, she wanted to see this girl die along with her. She wanted her dead for the betrayal she had done to her.

"I promise you would suffer! You would reap ten times of what you have done for me. Even if it's the last thing I do. I would wipe your blood on my mother's grave!" She shouted like a maniac.

The look in her eyes spooked Keisha for a second. She took a step back in alarm but then remembering the girl in question was half dead, she suppressed the fear and took a step forward.

"Maybe in your second life. But in this life I win and you lose. Toss her over the hill" she ordered the guards.

Second life?

How lovely would it be if she got a second chance to life. She didn't want any other life, she wanted this exactly same one so that she could pay back the betrayal she and her mother had suffered.

If only she got a second life...

"I can't die now" she said to herself as her body was tossed in the air.

She absolutely could not die now. Who would take care of her grandmother? What would be her fate? Would this heartless bunch kill her off like they had done to her? Just the thought alone made her unwilling to die. She had a lot she wanted to do. She was supposed to get married to the love of her life. She was supposed to live a blissful life and take over her mother company like they had planned.

She can't die now!

She was unwilling to die now!

Her eyes caught a glimpse of the beautiful young lady that had walked to Keisha's side before she fell further.

Her eyes were cloudy but she could recognize that face and that figure even if she turned blind.

Angel?

That was the last thing she thought before her body hit the hard rocky ground. The sharp rocks stabbed into her body. Her skull smashed open from the impact. Her hair began to ring. The view in front of her eyes blurred completely turning into a bright white light.

Was this it?

Was this death beckoning unto her?

Beckoning... something was beckoning. Gently pulling her froward, tugging on her body like a vortex

"Esme!"

"Esme!"

A thin sharp voice poured into her ears. The tugging increased. With a jolt Esme opened her eyes. Her eyes stared at the white ceiling above her. The plain white colour looking ethereal and heavenly.

"am I in heaven" she thought.

"I wish you were" That thin voice replied and a red haired head stuck itself into her view. Esme's first instinct was to slap it away.

"Ouch!" The figured was knocked to the ground and let out a Yelp. Esme sat up immediately. Waiting to see the goblin that had picked up her soul after she died.

The figure crawled up from the ground slowly. Its fair humanoid hands moved and pushedthe hair away from its face.

"Seriously tell me if you have plans to kill me!" Georgia complained rubbing her injured waist. She glared at the girl seating on the bed and staring at her with a blank expression.

Esme sat there and and stared at the girl with wide eyes. Shock and disbelief making a chaos in her mind.

How was this possible?

Seeing this girl alive and well was really shocking, after all she had watched her take a bullet to her heart and die with blood flowing out of her mouth like chocolate on a chocolate fountain. Her lifeless body turned cold in a minute under her grip and her pretty eyes went lifeless. Yet now she was seating fine, looking beautiful as she remembered her to be.

Esme chuckled bitterly "this must be heaven"

Yes this must be it. She must have died and gone to heaven so she got to see Georgia again. The two of them were kind beautiful souls after all, they did deserve heaven.

Georgia rolled her eyes "does heaven look like this abandoned slave cabin? I honestly do not understand how a heiress like you sees nothing in living like a pauper. I mean look at this place! Your family treats you like a slave"

At the mention of the room. Esmeralda finally looked round her. The view she saw was no different from where she had lived during the years her mother had died and her stepmother had taken over the house. The striking resemblance made her frown. The room was small and shabby. To congested with the loads that apparently did not fit into the size of the room. The wall paints were peeling off, the ceiling at the corner of the room had obvious water marks from the leak in the concrete.

Esmeralda frowned once more.

Was this heaven or hell?
