Soul-eating ugly lady. Miss Odette was kidnapped in complete darkness. The cursed lady made her lover die.
The shrill chants filled the streets of the city of Sawyer. When boredom sets in, children will flock to contribute their voices to sing. Through the window made of Douglas Fir wood, these blue eyes try to count the children running around.
"Miss Odette," said a maid, causing her head and long wavy hair to turn.
"Mr. Sherburne would like Miss to come into the living room."
Odette has no interest at all in fulfilling Sherburne's wishes, aka her biological father. However, it seemed like this servant was very persistent. Still standing beside Odette with an intimidating look.
A sigh could be heard from Odette. "I'm too lazy to go there. If it's important, just bring my eyes as a representative."
"Unfortunately Mr. Sherburne also wants Miss's complete body, not just her eyes," said the servant in a lazy tone.
Correct. Who is the servant who doesn't dare Odette? Even train drivers sometimes have no ethics. That's how bad they treated Odette all this time.
"What's so important that your master wants me to come?" Odette's body began to walk out of the room.
"Lady Aleda is waiting there."
Odette's footsteps immediately stopped. Aleda? She was a matchmaker who was originally just an ordinary nobleman, then married one of the princes. Luck does not stop the heart from being greedy. Aleda uses the reason for the match to gain connections and fame.
"Why is Lady Aleda here? Did she come for Alice?" guessed Odette, her sister, who was weak and sickly.
"Mr. Sherburne wouldn't be so heartless as to let Miss Alice go."
So, his goal is Odette.
"The last one, isn't it enough?" asked Odette with annoyed eyes.
An arranged marriage with a fellow Count's family, but Odette's lover has been suffering from a strange illness for a long time. Once he died, Odette became the main suspect. Cursed Miss, that's her nickname.
"Sherburne isn't afraid of being hit by new rumors?" said Odette, walking again.
This servant immediately glanced sarcastically at her, because of the impolite words that came out of her mouth. Everyone in Count Sherburne's residence was amazed. After almost dying from a fever, Odette becomes a different person.
This type of teak wood door is starting to be touched by hand. Using a small force to push, until the middle room appeared on Odette's retina. Sherburne, Ella and Alice sat facing Lady Aleda who was sipping a cup of tea.
"Odette, you've come. Come and say hello to Lady Aleda," asked Ella, Odette's stepmother, acting friendly.
Instead of obeying by painting a smile on Aleda's lips. Odette actually got rid of Alice who was busy trying on jewelry on the table. Sherbune glanced angrily as Alice's frail young body was cornered on the chair.
"Odette," Sherburne scolded, his lips trying to smile.
"Ah, it's okay, sir. Looks like this isn't the first time Miss Odette has behaved like this," Aleda quipped.
"Just make a long story short. I'm here on a message from His Highness Crisiant to propose to Miss Odette," said Aleda, giving out her purpose very quickly.
Not just Odette. But, all of the Count's family widened their eyes in surprise. Crisiant is the second prince who currently serves as crown prince. In disbelief, Odette slapped her cheek, it hurt of course and it turned out this wasn't a dream.
"Why does the crown prince want to marry me?" Odette asked and it seemed like the other families were waiting for Aleda's answer.
***
"Crazy! That Crisiant wants to marry me just because I'm beautiful."
That's what Odette grumbled dozens of times when she heard Lady Aleda's confession. In the middle of a night without sparkling stars. After Lady Aleda left, Alice continued to cry, as if her eyes were a fountain that never ran out of stock. Sherburne's fingers stroked his beloved daughter gently, as if Alice were a jewel that once stroked would shatter.
"Father! Just let me marry the crown prince," and that's what Alice whined every time.
Sherburne shook his head. "No, my child. Being the crown prince's wife is not a good thing. His Majesty Crisiant has many concubines and they are all petty. I don't want my father's favorite child to become a concubine."
Odette pointed to herself. Still a Sherburne child too, you know. However, it seems that her father only cares about Alice, who always looks pale.
"But I want that title Father! I have loved His Highness Crisiant for a long time."
Odette smiled. "How about we switch roles? I'll be Alice and you'll be Odette."
Alice was tempted for a moment. However, as soon as she saw Sherburne's angry eyes, Alice immediately cried and hugged her father's body.
"Nonsense! How can Alice be compared to you brute!"
And Alice's negotiations to become a concubine were unsuccessful. Odette's name has been recorded as Crisiant's new bride, and there are only two days left of the wedding. I don't know the reason for this sudden and hasty wedding.
But, what's clear. Odette couldn't sleep tonight. Her blue eyes once again stared through the window, but this time there was only the wind roaming freely in the middle of the quiet streets of Sawyer town.
"Tch, marrying a man I don't even know. That's not in my life dictionary at all," said Odette.
Casually. Odette took out a colorful scroll from under her bed. Ah, let Odette explain. Tonight she will escape through the balcony with several blankets tied together, as an impromptu rope medium.
Odette's impromptu escape event was a success. Even if you have to leave quietly when the guard changes at the front gate. Odette is now running freely on the streets of Sawyer City. However, behind there were many feet running around with their mouths screaming.
"Look for Miss Odette and see you!"
Bad! Odette, who was trapped, decided to sneak away and enter one of the horse-drawn carriages which was standing still without a driver. Odette breathed a sigh of relief when the group of guards who were looking for her had passed by.
"What are you doing, Miss?"
Odette's eyes rose. She found a handsome young man in soldier's clothes. Odette could find several bloodstains on the clothes.
"Oh, I'm running away. My father sold me while gambling," said Odette slowly but carelessly.
Until this man's forehead wrinkled. "You don't look like you want to run away, but to build a house to be exact."
Odette automatically glanced at the items she was carrying in a large bag. Of course, it contains clothes, make-up tools and assets to live on for several years. However, Odette was more concerned with the sound of the guard approaching again, until she cursed in the middle of the carriage.
Hazel eyes glanced out. "Are they looking for you?"
"Yes sir. So please hide me," asked Odette in a low tone.
One thing that made Odette stare in surprise. This man had just opened the carriage door wide, causing the guards' eyes to glance when they heard the sound.
"The person you are looking for is here."
"You're crazy," Odette cursed quietly, but her eyes were bulging with anger.
But, that only lasts a few seconds. The reason was that Odette was already whining when the guards approached. Then forcibly pulled her body back to the residence.
"My treasure!" Odette exclaimed while glancing at her bag which was still in the train.
"Let us take care of it. Take Miss Odette back to her room," said one of the head guards.
However, the man's eyes stared at Odette's departure, who was trying to struggle to be let go. "Odette."
It wasn't until the driver opened the carriage door again that the man's eyes turned away. "Your Highness Crisiant, shall we go back now?"
Instead of answering, Crisiant asked the question, "What is Miss Odette like?"
Crisiant's personal bodyguards began to put aside their swords to use only their hands and counting. "Miss Odette is ugly. She is shorter than her sister. Her skin is filthy, like an apple that has been split and left exposed to the air."
Crisiant grinned. "Damn. Which bastard started that rumor?"
"Yes Your Majesty?"
"She's beautiful," muttered Crisiant, his eyes falling on Odette's back, which was still struggling from the guard's grip.
