It's difficult to admit you were assaulted.

Because of the fear of the stigma attached,
Fear that no one will believe you were attacked.
Fear of how they'll react; if they'll judge you.
If they'll understand, take your words as true.
But choosing to keep your pain a secret,
Might be a decision you live to regret.
Denying yourself help won't do you any good,
It'll just but further reinforce your victimhood.
Hiding only adds to the feelings of shame.
Talk, set yourself free of the shackles of self-blame.
Reach out to someone you can trust, but be selective.
Find someone empathetic, calm and supportive.
Someone to help you work towards self-reclamation.
Challenge your sense of helplessness and isolation.
Get help, join an online or local support group,
It'll help get you off that torturous emotional loop.
